If it wasn’t bad enough he didn’t jump, he was pushed!

I'm in mourning here too.
Still haven't forgiven them for moving Radcliffe and Maconie to weekends.

I used to have 6Music on all day when it was Shaun, Lauren and then Mark & Stuart. They were like my friends Smile. Always had to turn off Steve Lamacq especially when he was in his "Idles" phase!

Can't abide Mary Anne Hobbs or Craig Charles so I shall now only be listening at the weekend.

Bloody bastards Angry

However I do love RadMac of a weekend now, they got me through too many early starts with DCs. Gutted they're losing an hour off their show. Love Huey whenever we're driving somewhere on a Sat morning.

Lammo I'm just starting to appreciate as someone I've been listening to almost all my life. Not really my taste (although it made me laugh when they had that cheesy pop day and he steadfastly refused to join in Grin). Also my DC started naming things Steve after him in some kind of unexpected imprinting situation so I'm quite fond of him now Grin

Have name changed. Seems appropriate.

I’m gutted too.

I do think they are intentionally running it into the ground. The weekend lineup is terrible now, and the music is far less of a mix than it used to be.

Steve Lamacq is well past his sell by (and completely stuck in 1995). If anyone should have been moved on it’s him.

I came on to say exactly this, so that saved me some typing!

Yes, Shaun has a chance to use this to his advantage I think and already seems to have a few irons in the fire. Hopefully he'll do well out of it soon enough. Lammo I've been listening to for around 30 years Grin

We're his listening figures down?

ImitationofBeing · 11/09/2021 11:18

I don't get the management logic of getting rid of him to put in Craig Charles unless they are into Northern soul music of which CC appears knowledgable.
Its becoming bland with no personalities....
Off to play with my radio dial.

He's stood in for that slot before and done well I think. He does have personality and is a bit of a star name - not sure who else they could have brought in. They have a lot of safe pairs of hands on 6 that are good enough but not hugely entertaining. Katie Puckrick might have been good maybe?
Charley50 · 11/09/2021 12:21

Yes I think Craig Charles will play a playlist, rather than his northern soul tunes.

midsomermurderess · 11/09/2021 13:12

It sad to hear he's been pushed out. I really liked his morning show, not so much his afternoon one. I was so sad when Radcliffe and Maconie were moved.

Cheesypasta · 11/09/2021 21:56

@RavenT

Gutted he's going. I have only discovered him since being allowed to wfh and have always listened to his afternoon show since. Not a fan of Craig Charles Sad
I have also discovered him in the last 18 months while working from home, and after a while I massively warned to him and will really miss the show. I do like Craig Charles so that's better than it might have been. But I would be very inclined to switch to Shaun if he found another station on which to do afternoons. Real shame he was pushed out.
wiltonism · 11/09/2021 22:00

I HATE STEVE LAMACQ

there I feel better.

MsWalterMitty · 11/09/2021 22:02

I now have no reason to listen to 6 music 😔

It was Jarvis and Shaun that drew me in.

Shaun did cover for Liza Tarbuck recently on R2.... maybe we’ll hear him more over there?.... Imagine if he replaced Steve Wright! That would be amazing!!

Cheesypasta · 11/09/2021 22:08

Imagine if he replaced Steve Wright! That would be amazing!!

I'd love that and would definitely tune in. But I assume Steve Wright knows where the bodies are buried, he seems so difficult to dislodge from R2

Cheesypasta · 11/09/2021 22:09

Oh and he's covering for Liza Tarbuck again on 25 September.

MsWalterMitty · 11/09/2021 22:10

It’s like Simon Mayo on R2 all over again

Fab!! Thanks for the heads up 🙂

The awful partnership with Jo Whiley really was car crash radio. Poor Simon Mayo. I loved that show. It kept me company on horrible motorway journeys back from work.

For those who are angry at the axing of Shaun Keaveny there is a petition to reinstate him here. chng.it/8PFpWPStmS

SirYawnsAlot · 12/09/2021 05:55

He made a comment about his 2 week holiday being enforced and before he took it he started putting in long silences after songs then laughing which became tiring. It sounded like he was striking back at the management.

I always thought he sounded awkward when he had to speak to fellow female presenters, he was on after (Lauren?) and was saying things like - you don't like it when I start moving around in the studio when you're on air do you ? - He sounded goady and if he was trying to distract her on air while being smug about it and she sounded tense.

Saying all this I enjoyed his show and it will be missed.
Craig, you have to be in the mood for as someone said he does play a lot of Northern Soul.
Ezra Furman played some interesting stuff on his fill in as did Cillian Murphy. Huey and Iggy can't be on enough. But for daytime, he's left some big boots to fill.

I’ve signed it but I remember doing the same for Simon Mayo but nothing changed

Newhorizon21 · 12/09/2021 08:17

@SirYawnsAlot I've picked up what I thought was tension between Shaun & LL, however, when I've heard them talking I thought she was the unpleasant one, who knows really, other then them...

Newhorizon21 · 12/09/2021 08:40

@SirYawnsAlot I agree about Huey, & Craig - when he's calm, his funk soul Saturdays make great listening. I love Iggy. I miss Tom Robinson too, he has a magic touch

Nitgel · 12/09/2021 08:43

Shaune's show irritated me so much was like a kids programme and irritating repetitive.

I will bloody miss Robert Elms though on weekdays radio london. Listened to him for years and so perfect for london.
