If it wasn’t bad enough he didn’t jump, he was pushed!

I'm going to stand up for Mary Anne Hobbs! Any time I do think her playlist is getting a bit pretentious, she'll suddenly throw on some full-on metal and I love she knows her stuff. BUT the style of her show and her voice are so much better suited to lazy hungover weekend mornings somehow. I still don't really think of her as a weekday DJ and miss her in her old slot.

Said it upthread already but am amazed at the amount of people on this thread still not over the big reshuffle. I thought it was just me. It's been years, people Grin

DismantledKing · 13/09/2021 21:09

Both Mary Anne Hobbs and Iggy Pop have voices that really, really get on my tits.

IntermittentParps · 14/09/2021 12:14

@Atalune

Bring back George lamb and his laminator
I thought I was the only person on earth who didn't hate George Lamb Grin He used to really make me laugh, and he was surprisingly sweet sometimes, to callers who were nervous. He did start making bitter and twisted comments when they moved him to early weekends though, although I suppose you can't 100% blame him for that.

Mary Anne Hobbs and her metal makes me turn off the radio. Fucking racket at about 10.30 am. Has no one told her she's not on late nights any more?

HalfBrick · 14/09/2021 13:31

Can't abide MAH, she sounds like she's reading a bedtime story, continuously. And the music is pants.

hellswelshy · 14/09/2021 16:18

Yep agree with the comments 're MAH. She plays alot of stuff just not suited to mid mornings! Either heavy metal or quite hard-core dance! I mean come on, leave that till the evening Confused

Berkeys · 14/09/2021 16:42

Liz Kershaw needs to go! Annoying in all ways.
I much prefer Mary Ann Hobbs.

Just shows you cant please r everyone. I love it!!

IntermittentParps · 14/09/2021 17:27

Liz Kershaw needs to go
Sorry to repeat myself, but – I thought she HAD gone? She doesn't do that Saturday slot any more, does she? has she been shunted off to some obscure night slot?

I know this thread is old but for anyone who is still missing Shaun - he's started a new radio show funded by fans on Patreon. It's £4 a month for a live weekly show. I'm not an expert on Patreon but it's called Shaun Keaveny's Creative Cul-de-sac if anyone is interested.

Just listened to the first test broadcasts and it's like being reunited with a long lost friend.

Best Xmas present ever 😁

SirYawnsAlot · 11/04/2022 06:02

Revisiting thread to see what Shaun is up to, thanks FrauleinSchweiger, might check out his new podcast.

I wondered how people are finding radio 6 now or Radio Charles as he seems to be enthusiastically steering the ghost ship with Chris Hawkins in the dinghy behind.

I rarely listen to it live now, the few times I've tuned in it seems to either be bland presenting or a rave marathon.
I just use catch-up for my favourite 6 DJs.

Anyone else?

BernardsBum · 11/04/2022 06:26

I agree SirYawnsAlot I hardly ever listen to 6 these days.
I feel a bit lost, because it used to be one of my default stations, and I've not found anything to replace it.

Hope the link works:

SirYawnsAlot · 21/04/2022 07:06

I know, it's hit and miss now. Thanks for the link, will check it out.

I have surprisingly warmed to Craig Charles afternoon slot, he's played some brilliant music and is energetic and keeps the mood going for me when I start to flag after lunch 😀Still struggle with MAH, and did find the recent stand in slot by Blessed Madonna excruciating! 6 music seem to think that everyone in the music business is suited to radio, but listening to her, I can say it's not true!
