I didn’t hear the bombshell but couldn’t listen as I would have found it too sad at work. I can’t believe he was told to go! When Steve Lamacq, Giles Peterson and Tom Robinson are on air…oh my word.

I think Craig Charles or OJ Borg would have been great replacements for Steve Wright in the afternoons on R2.

Yes I m also gutted. I usually switch off as soon as I hear Craig Charles's voice. If anyone finds out what Shaun Keaveny is doing please let us know.

I seriously think it is the new tory stacked executive board and CEO. The death eaters have well and truly moved in. He's never been shy on Twitter about the current state of affairs and since Brexit, imbecility and hate speaks loudest.

I really liked his breakfast show. Wasn't as keen on the afternoon. I think it got a little bit stale when it went to afternoons but I did love middle aged shoutouts (I was one of the shoutouts ha ha). I do feel like I've grown up listening to him as we got our first digital radio in 2003 and he took over from Phill Jupitus not long after. I also liked the open arms and franks floor fillers. I didn't hear him say it wasn't his choice but that's when I went to collect DD from school. I like Craig Charles but don't understand why they would replace him with him. Keaveny is much better IMO

I just went on bcc sounds and listened to that speech he gave. So emotional. I will miss him.

On the 6Music Facebook group they reckon there was a tweet about him going to Virgin. Very sad. It's about time Steve Wright was replaced, not Shaun Keaveny. Loved Lammo's goodbye to him yesterday.

I've loved listening to Shaun over the years and will miss him. I started listening to him on XFM all those years ago and onto 6music. Great presenter; I'm gutted he's left and even worse he was pushed. Sadly, I wasn't able to listen this afternoon but have just listened to his farewell speech.

@ Lottapianos I loved him in the mornings too, perfect start to the day. Funnily, I loved LLs slot when it after Shaun's, but I can't warm to her earlier morning show

It's sad that he's gone but I did prefer his breakfast show. I heard his bombshell too and was really surprised.
I did wonder if they'd asked him to move time slot and he wasn't keen? Surely he had one of the station's biggest audiences?

Feel like a lone voice here but he's always been my least favourite 6 presenter. I do think it's awful that he was axed though :( and really worrying if they are running down 6 again, I must listen more, get the numbers up!

Gutted he's gone too. Only listened in the school holidays but love his show. I love Craig Charles too, his Saturday evening show is my favourite on 6 Music, but I don't think they were thinking of the listeners when they decided to get rid of Shaun K.

You could tell it wasn't his decision by the things he was saying in the weeks leading up to it.

Gutted he's going. I have only discovered him since being allowed to wfh and have always listened to his afternoon show since. Not a fan of Craig Charles

He was such a good fit for the breakfast slot and I also preferred it to the afternoon show... thought it was just me. He wasn't quite as grumpy and I never quite got used to it. I mean... doing birthdays??!

The whole station's not been the same since that last reshuffle, interesting to hear that's a bit of a consensus! Will be good to hear him pop up on R2 if that's true though, I don't really do commercial radio.
