Tell me about something you've bought that you dont think you can live without now. Something that isn't essential to your everyday life, doesn't have to be luxury but just something that's made a difference to your life.

I recently got a small handheld vaccum as my main wasn't working so I got a cheap one till I could research on a good one anyway its really helped with back problems as I'm not having to lug it up the stairs.
Also I had a bit extra this month so wanted to get something practical to make life that little bit easier, any suggestions?

The Ordinary AHA/BHA peeling mask. Holy crap, the first time I used it I felt like I looked years younger. I use it only occasionally now, but it's still amazing for my skin.

I keep ice packs in the freezer for migraines, rashes, bruises, general injuries etc - I need them a LOT!

Not that cheap (£35), but for my migraines I bought a set of Migralens sunglasses. Green tinted. Unbelievable, I wish I'd bought them years ago. I've spent the whole day by the sea today in blazing sunshine and with them on plus a big floppy hat: no migraine. Life changing for me.

My kindle was under £100 when I bought it. If/when it breaks, I'll get one of the new waterproof ones, which will be more than £100 unless I happen on a good offer.

Also my wireless earbuds. I got some really cheap ones to see if I would use them and that I could look after them - I'm notorious for losing things like that, or never bothering to charge them, but I use them all the time to listen to podcasts while walking, running, cooking and doing housework etc. The first cheap ones broke after about 18 months, so I've now bought some slightly better ones, that were still only about £30. We're not talking Apple prices here.

Industrial ear mufflers, like the kind workmen wear. About £10 and I cannot be out them, I am sensitive to noise, so if you’re not, probably less useful :)

Mrstwiddle · 05/09/2021 20:20

Be “without” them

Prescription sunglasses (Specsavers, so reasonably priced)

Nice bedding - it makes such a difference

A couple of Bluetooth speakers and a subscription to Spotify

Posted about this on S&B but a springy things for removing facial hair.

I used to go to the salon for a top lip wax and would always have something else done because otherwise it seems like a waste of effort so would spend 2 hours and £100 every few weeks. Now I do it at my desk and save the time.

A shiatsu back, neck and shoulder massager.
I'm pretty sure I have piriformis syndrome and it brings some temporary welcome relief.

Eye mask with built in headphones. I have tinnitus and also sleep really lightly so this helps me fall and stay asleep. When I worked nights it was a godsend!

I think I need this! Where did you buy it from please?
moralcompass · 05/09/2021 20:33

Electric heat pad.. have it plugged in and on my bed all the time so as soon as I get in I pop it on and it's so soothing. Has an automatic timer so goes off itself. I often lie down during the day just to enjoy the relaxation

mim321 · 05/09/2021 20:35

Electric blanket under my bed sheet. I love it

Boot and shoe dryer. Dries even the wettest boots in 20 minutes, cost £30 and I no longer have eau de sweaty rugby boat permeating from my radiators.

mim321 · 05/09/2021 20:35

Boot even

AudreyTattoo · 05/09/2021 20:36

Trying to find it for you @CovidCorvid! It was in John Lewis and I'm 95% sure it was a little under £100. It's a one cup model, which really only does espresso and milk. Perfect for me!
