@MrsEWeatherwax that’s really frustrating,. Rowlands Gill isn’t far but Lanchester was almost doorstep.

Someaddedsugar · 23/09/2021 06:11

Thanks @littlefaith I’ll give CLS Boots a try today!

That’s a shame about Lanchester. I wonder if the Traveller’s Rest car park in Witton would have been an option although they’re often busy with cars too.

@mseweatherwax I'm hypermobile and all my joints are pretty knackered. My flu jab, last winter, was badly placed - too high and I felt it scrape bone - and I ended up with a sore shoulder joint and collar bone for over a week. Both covid jabs made it flare up again. I wouldn't mind, but that was one of my less problematic joints, until then!

MrsEWeatherwax · 23/09/2021 15:16

That sounds really painful, @PickAChew.
You would think the jabber would know what they are doing.

MrsEWeatherwax · 23/09/2021 15:21

Went to the city today, silver street looks so sad and I didn’t realise how many shops had closed in Prince Bishop’s.
Superdry is already closed Shock. I knew it was closing but that was fast. Not sure if Mountain warehouse is closing too.
Won’t be long before it’s not worth visiting.

PickAChew · 23/09/2021 15:30

@MrsEWeatherwax

That sounds really painful, *@PickAChew*. You would think the jabber would know what they are doing.
I think she was already on her 20th of the morning, just after 9sm, and had the general air of being sick of life.
PickAChew · 23/09/2021 15:32

And I wouldn't be surprised if mountain warehouse closes. They've just extended the one in the arnison centre.

MrsEWeatherwax · 25/09/2021 11:25

I saw the one at Arnison was closed for refurbishment, so it’s open again. It’s not a shop I go in much.
I saw in the CLS that B&M have the velvet initial stockings and sacks. Anyone want a initial checking just ask?
The wind seems to have dropped today. Definitely felt autumnal the last couple of days, re the amount of leaves everywhere.

PickAChew · 25/09/2021 14:22

It's expanded into the old carphone warehouse store.

MrsEWeatherwax · 25/09/2021 23:13

Just been today and still didn’t notice Blush.
Wilko have the Christmas stock out!

Someaddedsugar · 26/09/2021 17:56

Does anyone know of a petrol station that's open? I need to buy fuel after drop off tomorrow and couldn't find anywhere this morning!

Went to see the moon this morning - it's fab! Did you get evening tickets @MrsEWeatherwax?

Durham was lovely and busy with all of the students starting/returning. A lovely weekend for arriving too!

Fenwick's' Santa on the roof event goes on sale on Thursday for anyone who's looking for a Christmas event.

On the local Facebook page no where had petrol. None Sainsbury’s, Esso (CLS) BP, plawsworth(167) and the roundabout Witton/ Langley.
Someone who works at Plawsworth said she would post when they have fuel. Good luck 🤞🏻, it’s ridiculous isn’t it. People filling up when they don’t need to . Who would think panic buying would cause shortages. There is no shortage of fuel.
Glad you enjoyed moon, it’s brilliant isn’t. I was so impressed, I’m telling everyone to go and see it.
I haven’t booked I’m just going to go after 3.00 pm beginning November, should be dark enough for me anyway.

MrsEWeatherwax · 26/09/2021 18:12

Someone said Stanley had petrol and near thinford.
They had the road blocked this morning at Esso garage CLS.
Other than work I’m going to use the bus.

MrsEWeatherwax · 26/09/2021 18:16

I hope they put the Fenwicks window on Facebook again.
I’m also not bothered that the Newcastle Christmas market isn’t coming as I hated it. Just stalls and stalls of expensive tat.

Someaddedsugar · 26/09/2021 18:27

I know - and it's so annoying when you actually need to fill the car up. I was going to go on Friday when I was at Sainsburys but the whole place was chaos with people trying to get to the garage and I'm that daft that I didn't realise what was going on at first and didn't fancy sitting in a queue that didn't seem to be moving. Almost wishing I'd joined the queue now 😂.

It's the people who have to drive to work that I feel sorry for - it must be a nightmare for tradesmen who are self employed and have to drive to their customers. If I can't find anywhere tomorrow I'll just get the bus to pick DS up so it's not the end of the world.

I hadn't thought about going to the cathedral in the afternoon once it gets a bit darker. I might do the same and have an early finish from work one day!

I hope they do the window this year too! I'd think if they did last year despite everything then they will this year?

Someaddedsugar · 26/09/2021 18:28

I wonder how many people who aren't from the north east watched the window on Facebook? It must be a good marketing piece for Fenwick's surely!

The shell garage in Darlington was sold out last night t had petrol this morning do deliveries are trickling through. I realise that’s no good for Durham. Though they should also restock

MrsEWeatherwax · 26/09/2021 19:05

People are still queuing at Esso at CLS. So not sure if they have petrol or not. Might be worth a phone call.
Yes, must have great publicity for Fenwicks. The shops are good enough for a weekend away for adults and children. Newcastle for me is a better shopping day out than Metro.
I love seeing what’s available at Halloween/ Christmas for children to do. I miss mine being that little. It goes so fast in a blink of an eye and they are young adults.

MrsEWeatherwax · 27/09/2021 14:16

@Someaddedsugar apparently Sainsbury’s have petrol no diesel. Hope you get sorted.

Someaddedsugar · 27/09/2021 14:30

Thanks @MrsEWeatherwax! I couldn't find anywhere this morning so will pop to Sainsburys on the way to pick DS up on the off chance they still have some! I'm hoping the panic has died down and it'll be back to normal soon!

OP posts:
MrsEWeatherwax · 27/09/2021 14:34

Me too, I don’t normally fill up until my petrol light comes onBlush. Surely if everyone just bought normally it would be fine. But good luck 🤞🏻

PickAChew · 27/09/2021 15:06

The Sainsburys queue was stopping the boy racers from getting their brekky from McDonald's, this morning!

MrsEWeatherwax · 27/09/2021 15:59

Now that’s a disaster! I quite like a McDonald’s breakfast, the hash browns are good 😋.

Someaddedsugar · 27/09/2021 16:18

I never fill up until the petrol light has come on either! I know that's bad too!

I managed to get some from Sainsburys - they've had to put staff on manning the entrance to turn away diesel owners and I felt really sorry for them. Thankfully my petrol light was on when I turned up as I didn't want them thinking I was panicking!

I think I prefer Greggs to McDonalds for breakfast 😂. Having both of those and Costa in a row is like heaven on a morning!

PickAChew · 27/09/2021 16:34

Dh's petrol light came on after a jaunt down to teesside on Thursday. I instructed him to fill up that evening, even if he had already done more driving than he's been used to for a while and had been stuck in tailbacks on the A181. Thankfully, he listened to me, for once!

The boy racers had driven through a cordon. DH dropped me off in the markses car park because it was persisting it down and I was buggered if I was walking in. Some clapped out Golf came round the corner with the cord trailing from its bonnet with an old audi hard behind it. When dh picked me up, he said he'd seen a car dragging a cone along the road and ended up having to get out and move it out of the way, when it snapped off.

Pillocks.

I'm hoping ds2's taxi driver doesn't run out of diesel.
