Pleased your DH listened @PickAChew - mine's the sort that would say 'it'll be fine and I'll just fill up tomorrow'! Which he did and had to fill up at Wolsingham this morning (working nearby) and said it was a bit of a worry when the fuel tank was at 0 before finding a garage!

I've never understood the fascination for boy racers and retail parks/industrial estates, especially when the shops and businesses are actually open!

Hope your DS' driver gets him to and from home ok this week!

We have fuel if he does run dry. He's already chauffeured by the company boss (and doesn't share a ride because that didn't really work out - his echolalia gave away exactly how much it wasn't working out because we, and his teacher, were regularly treated to a transcript of what happened, complete with voices and everything) so can't be sent up the chain.

I don't know if they still do it, but there used to be huge gatherings of young guys with their modded VWs in B&q car park, some evenings. They were actually pretty well-behaved, all the times we saw them, so genuine enthusiasts, rather than pillocks like this one, this morning.

MrsEWeatherwax · 27/09/2021 20:07

Can anyone remember when all the boy racers use to park at Arnison centre after 9.00pm at night . Just a sea of supped up cars. Then they were chased away.
It was a sight to see. Did feel sorry for them because where else can you go and show off your Corsa.
We filled up at between Witton and Langley, I was down to quarter of tank and didn’t want to live dangerously.

Florelei · 28/09/2021 18:19

Hi everyone. Sorry I’ve not been on in a while.

I went to the Arnison at lunchtime and Sainsbury’s petrol station was shut. Apparently Tesco and Morrison’s in consett are both out of fuel. There is plenty of petrol at our local garage in Lanchester though.

This weather is awful!

Apparently plawsworth and Langley Park got deliveries this afternoon, too.
MrsEWeatherwax · 29/09/2021 17:04

Apparently, plawsworth the cars were queuing on the A167. No queues now, but they have probably run out of petrol. Augments a plenty on local Facebook.
Felt very autumnal this morning going to work, can’t believe it’s October this Friday.

Someaddedsugar · 29/09/2021 20:48

I hope by the end of the week it's all calmed down a bit!

The weather seems to have changed overnight from summer to autumn - we had the heating on this morning!

It’s bloody freezing and pissy
Did any one go to the festival of thrift?
I’m toying with bishop food festival on Sunday but I know it will be chokka

Someaddedsugar · 01/10/2021 20:24

@lifelongfrugaleer it's horrible outside isn't it. It's so cold here tonight!

I didn't go this year - did you? And was it worth going if you did? I definitely want to go next year.

Wayne Hemingway was part of the Innovation Festival that we host at work last year and his talk was really interesting re innovation and an ever changing world.

No I forgot about it,

Florelei · 01/10/2021 21:37

Hello! I’ve just been out for a lovely meal at the Pavillion at Iveston. The food is so good there!

It’s definitely feeling like winter is coming

Someaddedsugar · 02/10/2021 09:33

I love the Pavilion @Florelei!

We went to the Greek Guy at Fram for a takeaway last night and it was lovely - made a nice change as we often get pizza as it's DS' favourite.

Today feels very wintery doesn't it!

It's been so dark, this afternoon.

Finally made it to broom House Farm, yesterday. Just had some utterly delicious chicken thighs, for dinner. Not cheap but so tasty.

Someaddedsugar · 03/10/2021 16:46

It's been a much nicer day today hasn't it!

What did you make with your chicken @PickAChew?

A bit of a random question, does anyone know of any dance classes for 4 year olds? DS would really like to try dancing and so I said I'd try and find a class however all that I've found so far are quite formal ballet classes and given his age I think he needs something more informal to start with where it's more for fun if that makes sense!

I've looked at Razzmatazz at Pity Me but the times just don't work for us annoyingly!

DH is trying to revive his rusty and rudimentary cooking skills, so he made a Meera Sodha channa Dal and I made an Atul Kochar squash and green bean curry. We had those with rice (that I managed to overcook because too many things demanded my attention at once!) and a thigh each (they were huge) on the side. Ds2 had his with chips, of course.

We tend to have curry weekends, these days. I made a lamb chop curry for DH's birthday, on. Friday, and I'm about to make a Madhur Jaffrey chicken and spinach curry that we'll have with the rest of the Dal.

We're having broom House sausages tomorrow night, mind!

PickAChew · 03/10/2021 17:16

These will be going in the curry. Crispy fried onions!

North East thread 5: The one where we move to Chat!
Someaddedsugar · 03/10/2021 18:44

Those crispy onions look amazing @PickAChew - and your weekend menu sounds perfect!

We're big fans of the BHF sausages. We usually have sausage sandwiches for breakfast on a Saturday and theirs with red onion are our favs!

If you are local to Sacriston @Someaddedsugar there is dance class on at the Fulforth centre on Saturday morning. The dance school is called Northern Star school of dance. Brilliant class they do tap and disco etc.
There is also a dance class at Chester le Street above where Miss elephant is.

Someaddedsugar · 03/10/2021 20:11

Thanks for the Sacriston recommendation @MrsEWeatherwax I'll have a look at that - it sounds perfect!

I want to go for dinner at your house PickAChew. Nobody in this house like curry unless it’s curry sauce from chip shop!
Would have been a lovely day today if it hadn’t kept raining on and off.

MrsEWeatherwax · 03/10/2021 20:26

@Someaddedsugar the start time is 9 am to 10am which with a small child probably isn’t that early Grin. Thank goodness for teenagers Wink

myrtleWilson · 03/10/2021 20:27

Making curry here too - butter chicken (Maunika Gowardan) and paneer, kale, saag (Meera)
If anyone was in Durham city last night I apologise for my dancing Grin - DD messaged me from work to see if we could meet up for cocktails once she finished. We did, we ate, we imbibed, we danced, frequenting the food pit, Blue Eye and Revs. It was so lovely to see her happy and not overwhelmed with her eating disorder - plus she appears to know about 90% of people in Durham!

Someaddedsugar · 03/10/2021 20:28

Grin oh how I miss the days where I thought 9am was early!!

OP posts:
Someaddedsugar · 03/10/2021 20:29

@myrtleWilson how lovely! Dancing and cocktails are always a good idea! Hope you and DD had a lovely night!
