Tomorrow I change my life

I'm 30, a single mum to 3 and have the following list of diagnoses:

Autism

Depression

Anxiety

Psychosis with auditory and visual hallucinations

PTSD

Hypermobile ehlers danlos syndrome

Psoriatic arthritis

Rheumatoid arthritis

Subrapubic disfunction

De Quervains tenosynovitis

Fibromyalgia

Binge eating disorder

I use a walking frame to help me mobilise and I am currently 19st 10lb.

Ive joined weight watchers, have a load of healthy snack options in.

I plan on getting between 6 and 8 thousand steps a day (have been slowly working up from 2000 for the last year)

I'm going to start keeping a journal and mark all appointments in a diary.

I'm going to do some gentle yoga every day, even if I only manage ten minutes.

Come cheer me on, join me in changing your life, or simply wish me luck.

Massive well.done to you! I really feel like something has shifted in my head at last and I'm ready to tackle this.
I need to be healthy. I have 3 glorious children who deserve a mum to be proud of.

Absolutely! And they have a lovely mum who should be very proud of herself - and much less restricted by her weight. (I’m saying this in an “I’ve been there” way, not a judgy way!)

I know exactly what you mean. My current weight is hell on my joints, which are bad enough without the weight. Plus I'm at risk of diabetes and heart attack. I deserve to be healthy

Oh dear! I know that feeling well! I hope you’re okay! Maybe you’re pushing yourself a bit too hard too fast. You do have to build muscle strength up slowly.

I only put my hoodie on Grin my shoulder does like to play silly beggars. That and my hip.

Same… understand. I ended up in a neck brace from blow drying my hair once. (Ultimate blonde injury!)

Ouch!! How is it feeling now??

Did you do anything in particular to get your steps up today??

HerRoyalRisesAgain · 07/09/2021 06:11

Still very sore but manageable.

I have rheumatology at 10, then off to my mums as she lives around the corner from where my appointment is.

Only DS1 up at the minute. We're having a cup of tea before I wake the other two rebels Grin

Oh and nothing in particular for steps, unless I fancy wandering here there and everywhere in hospital again Grin

I remember roaming the hospital in labour and that was what got baby moving. I'm sure they won't mind a bit of step counting!

Has my rheumatology appointment. They're changing my pain meds from dihidrocodeine and naproxen to Amytryptiline and Celebrex. I've also had a steroid injection today so hopefully that will bring some relief.

DD and DS2 are at their dads tonight so just ke and DS1 again. We've had cottage pie, tidied the house, ivw done my yoga and I've been keeping my journal. It's nice to see that there is good in each day, it's helping to reframe my thinking. Even when things are stressful, there's something to make me smile.

Well done you are doing amazing. I was really inspired by the book Feel Great Lose Weight by Dr Chatterjee. It has a really simple and straightforward approach to making small sustainable changes to diet and lifestyle. If you don't want to buy the book his podcast is great 😊

I got stung by a wasp on the school run, then went tingly all over, hot and sweaty and breathless.
Luckily there's piriton at the kids school for DS2 and that's done the trick to make me feel better. Still sore now though.

I also spoke to a lovely woman today who is helping me with nutrition and making better choices. She has sent me some really helpful things so everything is going good on that front.

DD started knitting club today. I've bought her tiny kid needles to use and gave her a bit of yarn to practice with.
She'll also be doing hockey and first aid.
DS2 has joined a music club where he'll get to try out lots of different instruments and make noise!
DS1 is doing football, basketball and rugby

Tomorrow I change my life

Hi again! Just checking in to say you’re doing really well! Pity about the stupid wasp though!!! So pleased you’re finding so much joy around you. Also speaking to the nutritionist is brilliant!!! There are so many different types of diets and if you don’t know exactly what you’re doing, it’s easy to miss out on nutrients or not get the results you want. However, I wanted to ask you about the yoga. I know you’re hypermobile. Have you checked that what you’re doing is safe for you? It’s really easy for hypermobile people to injure themselves doing stretching exercises like yoga - especially if unsupervised. You might benefit more from gentle home weights to strengthen your muscles and bones. (I have Ehler’s Danlos Syndrome and yoga is on my “No” list.) The walking is brilliant and you should be super proud of yourself.

I've been doing Jeannie di Bon as recommended by someone here. She does special EDS exercises.

Promised DD and DS2 I'll take them to the park today after school.
