Apparently the queen is considering taking legal action to stop the verbal attacks on the royal family.

@DottyHarmer

Oh, I think Harry likes the “colonial” thing very well. I think a general “Africa” is ok in this regard because it is a continent and no one is talking about any specific country. People talk about “Europe” and “South America” - it’s indicating a general area.
So you think it's fine to perpetuate bigoted language because you've decided Harry would approve? Bizarre.

It's not like he's spent time in Liberia or the DRC is it?

SprayedWithDettol · 23/08/2021 09:56

If ever there was more of a reason for a republic then it is now. All this nonsense over some, quite frankly, unremarkable but hideously behaved people, who by fortune of birth, have rights far beyond the average person, is madness.
I don’t give a fuck about any of them and whilst the Queen has dedicated her life, in the main, to ‘service’, her judgement has been more than iffy at times.
An elected, non political, HOS would be our best option and remember, they can only serve a fixed term . Can I suggest JK Rowling as our first president? 😉

KidneyBeans · 23/08/2021 09:57

Thanks @BringBackThinEyebrows

Yes a saw the Oprah interview but that was months ago. If there's been nothing since then why the sudden media frenzy around legal action now....?
Has anything else actually happened?
The timing seems convenient if not

I’m confused why “Africa” is bigoted language. It is a continent. Maybe one can have issue with how, why and where continents were drawn, but that would also apply to the other continents too. It’s not as if someone has suggested Harry go to Rhodesia……

I guess it's the context 'He could have renounced his place in the LOS and moved to Africa ( where he seemed so happy) '

Which bit of Africa? Where did he seem so happy? It's not all one homogeneous place

“Ever since I came to this continent as a young boy, trying to cope with something I can never possibly describe, Africa has held me in an embrace that I will never forget, and I feel incredibly fortunate for that.”

Quote from Harry .

HM - if you're reading this, and want to start a gofundme page to silence the gruesome twosome, I'll chip in.

@BrilloPaddy

Don't worry you are already paying? It's 2 for the price of 1 - you get to pay Andrew too!

So? Does that mean we have to follow his lead? I think we can agree the RF aren't exactly pioneers of equality and diversity

But what have they actually said?
Oldbutstillgotit · 23/08/2021 10:22

@ KidneyBeans

You are looking for offence where none is intended

nottodaybatman · 23/08/2021 10:26

Yes I want to know what they have said too and precisely what laws were broken.

We have 2 threads for PA where we had posters not understanding what was wrong with middle aged men sleeping with trafficked 17 year olds. We had lots of victim blaming from some familiar posters. We had brave posters explaining the personal impact of child sexual assault, others providing links and quotes to the legal case of Virigina. MN had to step in repeatedly to delete the victim blaming posts by those familiar posters.

Yet for H&M we have to trust the sun and unnamed sources, oh and those familiar posters.

It's almost as if it is a bit of bullshit to distract from a bigger story.
It is almost as if it is to whip up a bit of public outrage.
One might say there was perhaps a double standard and a coordinated effort to protect another person.

Well I'm not the only one - it wasn't actually me that pointed it out

Regardless I think it's important to be mindful of the language we use.

emuloc · 23/08/2021 10:29

@Volterra

Well I guess it is a good distraction from the Prince Andrew situation for the Royal Family and very predictable that they would do something like this to take the spotlight off him.
This.
Roussette · 23/08/2021 10:31

But what have they actually said?

@KidneyBeans
Nothing. The Sun has written a pathetic article designed to divert about things 'royal sources' have apparently said about a book that is apparently coming out in over a year's time that apparently no one knows what it will contain, but apparently the Queen is on to it straightaway with her legal team.
I suppose they're up at Balmoral already trying to usurp Andrew's legal team and tell him what to do, so she may as well not waste money and ask them about what to do in the event H&M say something.

Port1aCastis · 23/08/2021 10:34

As I posted earlier, more media bullshit to detract and stir up the masses

dancealittleclosertome · 23/08/2021 10:35

So should the Queen just ignore H&M as they trash the metaphorical house just because Andrew is hiding in the shed?

3ormorecharactersss · 23/08/2021 10:38

With regards to PA - why aren’t we hearing about all the others who went to that island? Why isn’t Ghislane dishing the dirt? Why hasn’t Virginia Roberts named anyone else? There’s got to be so many more involved with this, why has nothing come out yet? Queen or does need to force PA to face up to this shit though. As a parent, it’s the best thing you can do to protect your child to be honest - get them to face up to their mistakes and deal with them.

I’m bored of H&M. They said they wanted a new life and privacy, they need to go off and live it. We’ve heard their “truth” (hate that phrase), there’s been awful accusations from both sides and there are no winners in this war. It’s time to move on.

nottodaybatman · 23/08/2021 10:38

What have they said? What laws have they broken?

And once more with feeling - why launch a legal case for an unpublished book and leak the story on the weekend when your 61 year old child has been sued for child rape?

Port1aCastis · 23/08/2021 10:39

When Buck House issue a statement saying a Gran is taking legal action against her Grandson I may start to believe all this media shite

3ormorecharactersss · 23/08/2021 10:40

Sorry, I’m not minimising by calling what PA did a ‘mistake’ - really poor choice of words there, I was referring to parenting in general. What he has done is not a mistake it’s a horrific crime and he needs to be dealt with. Sincere apologies for my phrasing there.

Roussette · 23/08/2021 10:42

So should the Queen just ignore H&M as they trash the metaphorical house

What have they done? I haven't seen anything for ages... except put out a statement on Haiti and Afghanistan which incurred huge wrath on here.

Marchingredsoldiers · 23/08/2021 10:42

I think it’s the sun, but just google it.

I just read an article in the Metro, it says The Queen is consulting lawyers ahead of Harry releasing his memoirs.

There's been a media frenzy around H&M since their engagement. The clickbait is designed to annoy people and generate money for the press.
