My husband likes them done...

Should this have annoyed me?
In salon for a facial (my choice cos my skin is messed up at the moment).

A lady getting her nails done just asked if she's come for a special occasion and she was like 'no my husband likes them done' jeez

Why knock her? What’s wrong with wanting to look nice for your husband?

I’m sure he doesn’t tell her she must have them done or he will divorce her just that it’s something that he finds attractive.

MrsDThomas · 20/08/2021 17:38

She’s happy. You aren’t. Don’t knock her.

Galassia · 20/08/2021 17:39

My husband likes long hair. It wouldn’t stop me from having shorter hair if I wanted to but I like that I have something that he finds particularly attractive.

Why bash another woman in this way?

Would you make a thread about a man who likes to have a beard or be clean shaven because his wife prefers it?

PurpleDaisies · 20/08/2021 17:39

I’m not sure it’s necessarily a huge issue to have a preference. I prefer dh without a beard. I can’t imagine him ever noticing my nails.

It’s whether that lady is under any pressure to have them done and if she actually wants them done herself.

VodselForDinner · 20/08/2021 17:40

I like when my husband has his hair freshly cut. Doesn’t mean I’m abusive or coercive.

I think it’s insulting to the woman the op mentioned to assume that she is under some kind of oppression to have her nails done.

Modern feminists don’ t seem to be interested in real issues nowadays but are hellbent on nitpicking anyone who has traditional values etc.

This really is such horse shite honestly Grin

ToomuchHeat · 20/08/2021 17:46

It should be for yourself no other.

Don't worry guys she's informed us she wears gloves when she does the washing up to preserve them. And she's hoping there will be food on the table at home as her DH has been left in charge but she can't be sure

Where did I say that I thought she was under pressure? I was saying it would be wrong for the husband to put pressure on her to keep her nails done. Do you really have an issue with that? Confused

What a load of bollocks.

I think we're all kidding ourselves when we say we do this stuff for ourselves anyway. Why do you care that you have "messed up" skin OP? How long do you spend looking at it and what difference does it make to you except how you feel about what others see?

Galassia · 20/08/2021 17:49

Modern feminists = bitter fishwives.

PurpleDaisies · 20/08/2021 17:49

Why do you have it in for this woman? You’re really not coming across well, especially with your latest update posts here op.

That's an awful lot of assumption!
MrsDThomas · 20/08/2021 17:55

@ToomuchHeat i wear marigolds to preserve mine too.

What us your point?

Speak for yourself. Everything I wear or do is for myself alone.
ToomuchHeat · 20/08/2021 18:00

My skin is irritating me it's so tight it's like a medical procedure

Toes looks so much better with polish so I agree with her husband.

But why, what is it about looking good that makes you feel good when you can't actually see yourself?

PurpleDaisies · 20/08/2021 18:15

You really don’t feel good when you know you look good? I’ve been exercising a lot and I love what that’s done to the way I look. It’s absolutely not about how I look to other people. I have this magic device called a mirror, and even when I don’t I can still move my head to see most of my body. Confused

Keepitonthedownlow · 20/08/2021 18:15

It's just another piece of shit woman are supposed to do to keep the men happy. 'Oribble

She's missing a trick there - to protect her nails, she should tell him to buy a dishwasher and then there's no danger to the gel whatsoever.

I like my nails being done. DP likes how they look. Neither of us like the cost of doing it at a salon, so DP learned to do them for me. Both happy, not skint, win-win.

1FootInTheRave · 20/08/2021 18:18

My toes are always done. For me.

My hands are neat and done because dh likes it.

Dh has a beard because I like it.

No biggy imo.

Of course I do, but I'm honest enough to admit that a large part of that is about how I present myself to others. How many people can honestly say they pay the same amount of attention to their appearance on a day they know they'll see no one?
