Should this have annoyed me? In salon for a facial (my choice cos my skin is messed up at the moment). A lady getting her nails done just asked if she's come for a special occasion and she was like 'no my husband likes them done' jeez

Women already have to shave their legs, armpits, the belly button line, their vagina area usually, pluck eyebrows, wax moustache and chin hairs, wash and condition and blow dry hair, moisturise, wear make up, wear less comfy clothes than men.

I don’t think the majority of women are doing all those things. I’m certainly not.

It pisses me off that the male equivalent of 'looking nice for their partner' tends to involve such little effort in comparison to the expectations of women. They just have to be beardless or not, and not have hairy nostrils or whatever. Women already have to shave their legs, armpits, the belly button line, their vagina area usually, pluck eyebrows, wax moustache and chin hairs, wash and condition and blow dry hair, moisturise, wear make up, wear less comfy clothes than men. And that's all before shit like getting nails done, paying for hair ups for special occasions and possibly make up, fake tan. And increasingly, hair extensions, Botox, fillers, other expensive shit. I know that nobody has to do any of these things but there is so much societal pressure to do most of it. I wish fashion would change and women could just be hairy and not have to bother and for that to be considered the norm, and men would instead take the burden of all the stuff women have to do routinely.

Sweet Jesus! You do all that and you wish that fashion would change so you didn't have to?

As I’m sure PPs have pointed out, there’s a massive difference between CHOOSING to have your nails/toenails/bikini line/armpits/whatever done because YOU want to, (even if you want to do it for your partner, that’s up to you and your relationship)

Vs: I do it because he wants me to, and he won’t be happy if I don’t.

The thing is, none of us were there, the OP was, and it's very possible that the tone and delivery indicated that she was SOLELY doing it for her husband. To everyone else jumping to attention, this obviously does not imply that everyone who gets their nails done is a stepford wife.

That’s just not true. A minority of woman may do, but that’s their choice as much as anything. A change of mindset would work well.
