This is an A&E trip right?

Tripped over dd’s scooter in the garden and fell with all my weight on my leg. It’s not broken as can weight-bear (with pain!) but my god it’s so bloody sore. Bruises came up very quickly.

Glad there's no break.

That's some very severe bruising very quickly.

That's going to get some interesting colouring over the next couple of days.

Good news, I hope you recover quickly.

I don't think walking or pain is necessarily a sign of not having a broken leg. DH had a football injury and walked into the A+E. The doctor said that it almost certainly wasn't broken if he was walking but they would x-ray it anyway. Then they admitted him and put a pin in to secure his completely snapped bone (fibula I think, but I can't remember for certain).

A word of warning about the leas you use for icing it...label them well to make sure someone edoesn't decide to cook them. Cheap peas that have been thawed and refeozen numerous times are not nice!!

She didn't know they were only bruises until a fracture was ruled out by an x-ray though @me4real.

Those bruises came up frighteningly quickly though. I assume that this was why the OP had a blood test as well.

It could be broken - when we were teenagers my friend broke his leg skateboarding and walked around on it for a couple of days. He needed a massive op with loads of pins.

Ive known chikdren and adults to hurt selves /fall but still manage to walk on it so think it’s ok

Then find actually they’ve broken it

Glad nothing is broken, but my, that looks so painful! I hope the painkillers live up to their name!

I mean I fell off my own scooter and cut my leg up, but that was my own fault 😂

Hope you are not in too much pain OP. Can i ask what would the blood tests be looking for? Infections setting in?

Probably anything indicating issues with blood clotting

@EvenMoreFuriousVexation Pain levels really aren't the only thing. You sound like my dad who told me I couldn't possibly have appendicitis because "I'd know about it if I did" ie I wasn't in enough pain. Guess who had appendicitis? I'd always go and get bruises like that checked just to be on the safe side.

I agree that pain levels are not an accurate indicator and should never be used to dismiss possible breaks.

Glad you have no break op! Did they say why it bruised so badly? My leg didn’t bruise like that when I DID break it!
