If a box suddenly appeared with everything that you had ever lost inside it...what will you look for first?

I'd look for my old baby blanket that went missing one day on holiday when I was around 8.

My Nan made it me, and I still wonder where the flip it could have gotten to. We were staying Inna caravan and I couldn't find it one evening...we looked all over.its a real mystery.

What about you?

3 gold bracelets inside A jewellery box, all quite precious gifts

SunshineCake · 11/08/2021 07:36

@FrenchFancie

Can I have a box for someone else? My 94 year old grandmother has been widowed for 20 years - she still talks about a Whitby jet earring and necklace set my grandfather bought her and which some scumbag stole from her not long after he died. I would dearly love to be able give that back to her, because of the happy memories of when he bought it her.
This is the one I think we could help with maybe if someone lives in Whitby?

Sorry that was meant to be a new thread not post!

yodaforpresident · 11/08/2021 07:53

My Chloe Marcie that disappeared from my luggage left in a hotel.

Wedding ring

ErstwhileGoth · 11/08/2021 08:04

A Mork and Mindy poster that was on my bedroom wall. It was 'lost' in a house move when I was 5.

My self confidence.

Deathraystare · 11/08/2021 08:07

I got a gold heart on a chain from Oxfam - a large heart not one of those small heart pendants. I put it in a box and when I moved I never saw the box again! Probably lots of other jewellery over the years (luckily none of it pricey (you can see why!!). I am a prize loser! The box with everything I lost in it would have to be mega sized!

Icecreamwafer · 11/08/2021 08:10

I don't really loose anything. I do find things a lot. I own maybe 8 pairs of sunglasses I have found. I am almost certain to find a pair on a day trip. Off the top of my head I have found a silver necklace and a silver bracelet. Oddly I found these at the same bus stop about two weeks apart. A teddy bear. I found a mobile phone. I managed to get that one back to its owner. I have found other things. Theres a lost and found local facebook page I keep an eye on.

cptartapp · 11/08/2021 08:12

My great grandmas ring which went down the laundry chute when I was a student nurse thirty years ago.
Never told my GM.

@Fifipop185

My original engagement ring. It was only 0.10ct diamond with a simple gold band, cost £100 in 1999. It was the last £100 DH had left after we'd bought our first flat. It represented a place in time where we were broke but very happy and I didn't need a big flashy diamond ring.

The diamond became loose in its setting around 2009 when DS was born and I took it off and put it in my jewellery box in my bedroom with the intention of getting it fixed. I've not seen it since.

DH has since replaced it with a lovely 3 diamond eternity ring, much bigger and flashier, but I pine for my original ring. I have my suspicions of who may have been in our house and taken it (they're no longer in our lives for other reasons) but I have no proof. Would love to have it back.

We bought mine at the end of a year long trip around the world that i tool with now DH and we were in Seattle staying with friends we had met in Fiji. It was stunning, a row of huge diamonds and we spent our last £1000 on it. I took it off in a grubby hotel we stayed in only a couple of years ago the night before we did a charity 100km walk and it must have fallen down the side of the bedside table as it wasn't in my pocket when I looked later. I didn't wear my rings on the walk as my hands swell up when doing stupid things like 100km walks. Anyway, it was gone. I have replaced it and claimed on insurance but it isn't the ring we bought which makes me sad.

In fact if my house burnt down and I had to rescue something, family members and pets aside, it would be jewellery. Everything else is basically replaceable right?

frazzledfragglefromfragglerock · 11/08/2021 08:57

My trilogy ring which I dropped down the plug hole. It wasn't even in the trap when we took it apart.

And my husbands wedding ring that he lost in the sea in France (but not the one from his first marriage that he threw in the sea on purpose.....just in case any mermaids are reading and want to help!)

cricketmum84 · 11/08/2021 08:57

My marbles 😂

But really it would be a photo album I put together in about 1999 that had pics of my grandad and my old school friends in it. It's got to be somewhere in this house or my mums but haven't seen it in years.

frazzledfragglefromfragglerock · 11/08/2021 08:58

And my snoopy's nose which I lost in a house I barely remember! But I do remember it falling off! (Earliest memory, must have been around 2!)

HeronLanyon · 11/08/2021 09:04

Oh my wizard of oz book green glasses which you needed to put on before you turned the page to have first glimpse of emerald city ! Still have the book from 60s the empty glasses bracket still upsets me (not that I’ve been reading it ! But I know it’s missing).

CoodleMoodle · 11/08/2021 09:11

A Pokémon board game I had when I was a kid. It lived at my DGM's house and when it was cleared out, I apparently told my uncles to get rid of it. No way would I have done that, I loved it.

And not only is it worth a lot of money if complete (incomplete ones go for £60+ on eBay), DD is very into Pokémon right now. I never had anybody to play it with and would love to share it with her.

myotherusernameistaken · 11/08/2021 09:14

You should all have a listen to this. It's called Lost Property.

PeaAndHamSoupFromAChicken · 11/08/2021 09:16

My wedding jewellery. Sad

I still have the necklace but lost the matching earrings and bracelet at different times.

PsychoSyd · 11/08/2021 09:19

@silentlight I have a load of MtG cards that I don't play with anymore. Feel free to PM me if you're interested in them.

silentlight · 11/08/2021 09:35

@PsychoSyd that’s so kind! But you keep them, they might be worth a fair bit of money, and what I long for is my special blue and white deck that took me a few years to curate.

CheekyChewinski · 11/08/2021 09:41

The engagement ring my bio dad gave to my mum. My mum gave it to me for my 16th birthday and I lost it around a year later. It held no sentimental value to me as I never knew my bio dad but she was devastated, I felt awful.

MistySkiesAfterRain · 11/08/2021 11:41

Mr Men tshirt that I swear disappeared from my washing line.

1984Winston · 11/08/2021 11:43

My mum's necklace, I had to move a lot when I was late teens/early twenties and I think I left it behind and it was thrown away 😭 my mum died when I was 17 and she wore that necklace everyday

IToldYouIWasFreaky · 11/08/2021 11:52

A lucky sixpence that my Granny gave me when I sat my A levels. I took it to Uni with me, leant it to a "friend" for a tricky exam and the stupid cow lost it. Angry

And also a bracelet with an odd story...me and exP were on our way to what turned out to be our last holiday together. I was in the passenger seat of the car and noticed something flapping around the wing mirror when we were driving down the motorway. I wound the window down, and rescued a really pretty silvery chain bracelet. The clasp wasn't broken and as I had no way to work out who it belonged to, I kept it and wore it every day for months, until the day I found out that exP had been cheating and left me, when it vanished from my wrist.
I guess the clasp must have been dodgy after all and it just fell off somewhere but at the time, it felt like it came into my life and then moved on again, like a bracelet version of the Littlest Hobo, and I'd love to know where it went next.

knackeredcat · 11/08/2021 11:53

My complete Mexico 86 sticker album - would be worth £££ now.
One of my late Mum's rings - set with a huge amethyst. I borrowed it when younger and the whereabouts is a complete mystery as it was never actually lost. It was in my jewellery box in my family home and then it wasn't. Confused.
Various earrings where inevitably one would go missing and if I'd got them on a holiday I couldn't replace like with like.
A beautiful custom charm my OH had made for me as a surprise - a very niche design which he knew meant a lot to me. That one stings as he paid a lot for it when money was tight.
