If a box suddenly appeared with everything that you had ever lost inside it...what will you look for first?

I'd look for my old baby blanket that went missing one day on holiday when I was around 8.

My Nan made it me, and I still wonder where the flip it could have gotten to. We were staying Inna caravan and I couldn't find it one evening...we looked all over.its a real mystery.

What about you?

Oh!! I'd be delighted to find the contents of a special box of things I couldn't bear to part with when we moved house aged 11. It went 'missing' on the journey. (Yes Mum - I'm looking at you and your decluttering obsession)

I'm particularity excited to see my red striped Terry towelling hoodie that was 3 sizes too small. And my Magic Roundabout lamp shade. One of these plastic ones in segments from the 70s. I loved that.

I'd also be happy to see a silver handmade ring I treated myself as an adult to on holiday in Jersey but it was a bit too big and I lost it fairly soon after getting home. It was a thick ring that had been engraved round the outside then cut in half to make two thinner rings. Someone else somewhere in the world had the other half. I wonder if their half is in the box too.

My great grandma's engagement ring. For some reason it was in my dad's garage and it disappeared.

TheVolturi · 10/08/2021 20:21

My marbles!

A beautiful gold watch I was given for my 21st. No idea where it went.

QuestionableMouse · 10/08/2021 20:26

The really good tweezers I lost in uni accommodation. Even when I moved out and the room was completely empty I still couldn't find them.

My nice leather riding gloves that went with a car that I sold. Realised too late that I hadn't grabbed them from the door pocket and the new owner denied having them.

RubyGoat · 10/08/2021 20:27

My first pair of jeans, I bought them aged 14 (I’d stopped growing by then). They still fit me at university. Never figured out where they went, I always suspected my mother threw them out but maybe I left them in the uni laundry. They were gorgeous & I’ve never had a pair that fit as well on my hourglass shape, they’re all low rise now even though it’s gone out of fashion.

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 10/08/2021 20:27

my patience

Auntieobem · 10/08/2021 20:28

My Gran's watch which my grandad gave her on their wedding day, and which I lost on a night out.

Rockbird · 10/08/2021 20:28

The silver ice skate earring identical to the ones Jayne Torvill used to wear. I lost it strawberry picking in about 1985 and I have been devastated ever since.

2tired2bewitty · 10/08/2021 20:29

I’d rather the fruit bowl that went missing last time we moved wasn’t in there, it had bananas in it when last seen Envy (not envy).

Assuming the box is safe to open I would like to find the woolly hat that blew off my head on the end of Roscoff pier when I was 2 as apparently I was very upset.

If it is a particularly magic box I hope it might bring back my childhood teddy, the watch my grandma gave me, and various other precious items I lost to a house fire Sad

Dollywilde · 10/08/2021 20:31

The earring I lost on my wedding day.

Daisy829 · 10/08/2021 20:31

My signet ring from when I was 8, more recently a necklace that was quite an unusual shape & has my kids name on.

Daisy829 · 10/08/2021 20:32

The necklace is defo in the house. I’ve found the chain just not the pendant bit.

RubyGoat · 10/08/2021 20:32

Actually, not the jeans. It would be the missing glove from the pair that had been my grandmother’s. I have one, the other went AWOL. Silk lined, buttery soft leather. The one I have still fits me perfectly. It lives in the dressing table that I also inherited.

To be fair, if I had both I’d probably have worn them out years ago.

A handmaid silver ring my brother bought me as a thank you for letting him crash in my London flat for over a year. He didn't have that much money and it was quite expensive. Hated myself for losing it.

My son's "wee furry" which was a piece of sheepskin he had from when he was a baby. Big furry slept in the bed with him, wee furry came out and about. It was lost on a bus in Dundee and he was bereft.

My grandad. He was very very special to me and I'd like to have him back. He'd love my teens, love where I live now, we'd have such fun together again.

DailyMaui · 10/08/2021 20:33

hand made ffs! I'd hate a handmaid ring!

Bryonyshcmyony · 10/08/2021 20:35

My diamond earrings that a friend reset for me, so badly that both large diamonds fell out on my wedding day

CorianderBee · 10/08/2021 20:35

My emerald ring. Mum bought it for me when I turned 8. I lost it when I turned 18 on a night out :(

WeatherwaxOn · 10/08/2021 20:35

An emerald & cubic zircona ring.
A free tape that came with a magazine with some rare songs on.
Many, many socks including a multicoloured one with toes and non-slip sole for yoga.

WhatIsThisPlease · 10/08/2021 20:35

My great grandma's locket which I think I've accidentally thrown out.

And my DC's first teddies which I kept for 17 years that my DP took to the tip by mistake 😭😭😭

Travelledtheworld · 10/08/2021 20:35

My sons Jellycat "Waistcoat wabbit" also known as Little One Bunny. Lost when he was 3. Son is now 21. I still feel guilty.

Galassia · 10/08/2021 20:36

Cartier Love ring that I suspect my daughter took into nursery.

A cat called Bruno who went out one evening and never came back. He was ginormous and a lovely boy.

My teeth.

A wooden mouse brooch that my mother gave me that she had worn in the 1960s and hols me not to wear it in my school coat but I did and it disappeared, probably stolen from the cloakroom.

KenDoddsDadsDog · 10/08/2021 20:37

A Barcelona 1992 Estrella pint glass that ‘went missing’ a few years ago. Nobody would admit to breaking it - but I suspect it would show up in pieces 😂

LuckyLuckyWoman · 10/08/2021 20:41

My self respect :(
