I'd look for my old baby blanket that went missing one day on holiday when I was around 8.

My Nan made it me, and I still wonder where the flip it could have gotten to. We were staying Inna caravan and I couldn't find it one evening...we looked all over.its a real mystery.

What about you?

My youth
My energy

My folder of hundreds of recipe cuttings clipped from papers and magazines that I'd been collecting for over 20 years.
I suspect DH gathered it up and (accidentally) threw it out with a heap of newspapers.
I still mourn its loss, it was irreplaceable.

@HeronLanyon

Oh iwannabe so sorry. Me too - lost a memory card on the scilly isles with hundreds of Unbacked up photos many of my dad who was very ill and who died soon afterwards. It’s very upsetting. I even back up my iCloud photos on actual memory drives as have heard too many tales of how they can be lost.
Sorry that you’ve experienced the same, and so sorry for the loss of your Dad Flowers I now also have hard drives along with the iCloud thing!

My watch that I lost at a swimming gala when I was about 14. It was my first grown up jewellery that I chose myself from a jewellers in Edinburgh for my birthday.
My first Claddagh ring that my mum bought for me.
Currently my kindle which is in my house somewhere and I can't find for the life of me.
Oh and dd1's baby blanket that must have fallen off her pram between Winter Wonderland and Marylebone

1 - My late grandmother's enamelled bracelet, which I left in a public toilet in the early 1970's - I took it off to wash my hands and walked out without it. Realised a couple of minutes later, but it had already been stolen. My mum was really upset.

2 - a small gold ring which rolled into a gap between the floorboards the day we were moving house. I thought my parents would be angry (see bracelet incident above) so I didn't tell them.

3 - my grandad's WW1 medal. It's in this house somewhere, but I can't find it.

A tape that had a recording of my grandparents on with our family pet dog, all now past on but would love to hear their voices one more time and hear that awesome dog bark again with the excitement of playing with us.

AwaAnBileYerHeid · 10/08/2021 21:23

A VHS tape of my 6th birthday party with my late father on.

thegreylady · 10/08/2021 21:23

My mum’s eternity ring (lost by dd ).
My print of the Eiger which I left behind when we moved. When I rang the new owner she had given it to her grandson.

Hillbillyhotel · 10/08/2021 21:28

A crucifix from my late Auntie which fell down the sink in my downstairs toilet (which is tiled in so I can’t break until we’re able to redecorate),I hope it’s still in the u-bend as everyone tells me!

Noshowwithoutpunch · 10/08/2021 21:32

A small silver ring my Gran wore.
She had been given this ring when she was a young woman and wore it until her death aged 73.
I didn't have it a year and I lost it.
So sad just thinking about this.

YoureAllABunchOfBastards · 10/08/2021 21:33

@DramaAlpaca

DH's wedding ring. It vanished one day when we'd been married about a year. He'd been gardening that day, dug up all the plants he'd put in to search for it to no avail. We ended up buying another one.
Are you me? This is what I was going to write!

I would also look for the dark pink velvet cat that my mother gave away when I was eight. I had 'too many toys'. And also Big Bunny who was my favourite ever cuddly toy.

yamadori · 10/08/2021 21:35

The Christmas decorations that I remember from my childhood - lovely lantern lights, and lots of old mercury glass baubles. They all dated from the 40's and 50's and would be really collectable now. I've looked for similar replacements, but vintage baubles are ridiculously expensive. No idea what happened to them.

A beautiful ornate stone bird bath. My late Husband bought me two almost identical ones many years ago. We had two huge gardens, so one was for the front garden, and the other in the garden at the back of the house. We moved house a few times, and the heavy bird baths always moved with us.. On one particular move, we had put any garden things in a special place, to be loaded up in the removal van, but one of the heavy bird baths had disappeared from the front garden. I guess stolen, although no proof of this, but they were quite expensive, and we had had them for many years. . I have still got the remaining one, but no chance of getting the other one now.

Pinkmagic1 · 10/08/2021 21:40

A beautiful gold and amethyst heart pendant that was a present from dh. Found the chain inside my bra, but the pendant was lost, never to be found again.

Also my cat who went missing one day 17 years ago. I imagine that he is unfortunately long dead now though.

Kljnmw3459 · 10/08/2021 21:40

My class ring from when I was 13. I remember putting it in a special box with other of my "valuables" and I think I put it in our attic or hid it somewhere else in the house. The following year we moved and when I was packing I couldn't find it anymore. Or my cassettes full of me and my sister singing children's songs when we were 8-9. I had it forever then put it in a safe place and it got lost.

Toddlerteaplease · 10/08/2021 21:41

My new water bottle that got left on a ward I was moved to and has vanished!

Queenoftheashes · 10/08/2021 21:44

My popple

DirtyDancing · 10/08/2021 21:46

Photo of my Nan & Grandad's wedding day which I lost trying to get copied. My stupid fault for being an irresponsible 20 year old & not taking care of it.

My original birth certificate. Again lost at Uni between a million student moves.

So cross with myself for both accounts

beigebrownblue · 10/08/2021 21:48

My waistline.

Sceptre86 · 10/08/2021 22:00

The ring my grandad gave my mum when she got married. My mum gave it to me and although I had it tightened it fell off during my wedding celebrations. We scoured the venue for it but I think someone must have pocketed it.

COPPER3 · 10/08/2021 22:06

My ruby and diamond engagement ring. Lost in 1990 whilst staying with a friend's family in HK.
My wedding ring, which belonged to my beautiful Grandmother. Gutted and still looking for it..

SamVimes6 · 10/08/2021 22:07

My charm bracelet.

I had it from age 11. Every charm on it was precious to me, held memories of family holidays, exams, my wedding day, the birth of my daughters etc.

It was stolen by a neighbour (only person to come in my house in months. ) I confronted her but she lied, not unexpected from a thief I guess.

It is the only thing I’ve ever really been upset about losing.

Disfordarkchocolate · 10/08/2021 22:08

The last pair of earrings my Mam bought me. They were so lovely and wearable, I still have the box and it makes me sad to see it.

thecatsthecats · 10/08/2021 22:08

Technically not mine, but I'd love to get the engagement ring my dad gave my mum.

For DECADES she span the lie that he only ever gave her a crystal (a very pretty one), before she mistakenly let slip that she lost it moving house.

It's dumb because she loses things all the time, but my poor dad has been made to look like a cheapskate!

Ohpulltheotherone · 10/08/2021 22:09

My late mums wishbone ring.

On a lesser note, a pair of expensive sunglasses I absolutely adored which suited me perfectly, I remember having them one day then poooof gone Sad
