DH went to a new Kurdish barber in our nearby town for his last shearing. He was very impressed, and they did a great job!

I went for a run this evening and turned into a disgusting sweat bucket, I’m designed for cooler climes.

OhWhyNot · 06/09/2021 20:23

My pusscat soldier has decided even though I am like a radiator turned on to full he should sit on my lap just to make sure none of the heat I’m generating escapes

Very thoughtful of him Hmm

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 06/09/2021 20:24

The Arabic is important - as we have three different types of hairdressers for men, who in addition to the usual training have their own set of trade secrets for their clients.
I never knew how much stuff you can do to beards.

Silkiescatz · 06/09/2021 20:30

Silkiecat thinks DH is well intentioned but of little brain, she has a withering look she gives him when he doesn't immediately do as she asks that looks like she thinks he is too stupid to understand. She is purring a lot today but a busy day of DH training.

Have more chicken food, lots of e-mail sent to LA re schools for DS. DD has been at her 3rd day of parties and her fourth one tomorrow. Neg covid test for her today and another test on Wed.

Good luck with the new job Banana

HelenaJustina · 06/09/2021 21:27

I’m waiting for a cake to bake, it is not baking any faster despite me hovering by the oven. The DC picked blackberries at the allotments but they last 5 minutes once picked unless you do something with them. So I made a cake.

Window1 · 06/09/2021 21:43

I ordered my first woodwick candle today.

Window1 · 06/09/2021 21:44

Good luck banana in your new job. Hopefully something slightly different to what you're doing now. Mildly intrigued as to why you think you're not very good at current job.

Gingerwarthog · 06/09/2021 21:52

Yes, me too Banana...tell us more Grin

MissConductUS · 06/09/2021 22:25

Welcome, @BananaMilkshakeWithCream, and thanks for sharing your career change news. Please let us know how it goes with the new job.

Not much news today. It's Labor Day here, so I had the day off. I mostly did some tidying. DH mowed the lawn. It needed it after all of the rain from Ida. My new gel/padded seat cover for the stationary bike arrived from Amazon. I'm sure my back end will appreciate it. Grin

@Window1

I ordered my first woodwick candle today.
I'm normally of mild nature and have almost limitless capacity for annoying behaviour having lived with DH for 15 year but the incessant crackle, crackle, snap of the woodwork candle left me on the edge of violence Hmm
Silkiescatz · 07/09/2021 00:00

Dh is coughing a lot and told me he has a cold. I told him he needs to get a covid test and for first time he agreed and also he said he is taking himself to single bed so he does not give it to me. Though seeing as he hasnt been well since Thursday that seems very pointless though Silkiecat will be very happy if she discovers DH alone and on a bed.

Silkiescatz · 07/09/2021 00:18

Just ordered DH a test for home and he was Confused I have no idea how to get a test. It was offering antibody tests as well so I signed him up for that as well. Dd tested negative today but she has no symptoms.

Window1 · 07/09/2021 06:28

Champagne it did occur to me that this may be the case for me too, but curiosity got the better of me.

I ordered a couple for gifts too and now I'm wondering if the recipients will think I hate them....

Squirrel26 · 07/09/2021 10:34

I’ve never heard of a woodwick candle. Is it literally a candle with a wooden wick?

I’m having my third coffee because I’m sure that’s going to help with my general sense of impending doom about all the stuff I’m currently avoiding doing.

Squirrel it crackles like a wood burner. Not sure what the wick is made of.

A permanent sense of impending doom, now that's something I can relate to. Unfortunately building today more than usual.

MissConductUS · 07/09/2021 16:40

I also had never heard of a woodwick candle, but apparently they are a thing, and are supposed to crackle and smell like a wood fire in the fireplace. Other than on birthday cakes, we don't really do candles at our house. Most of our lights are on a dimmer switch, and I don't care for the scented candles or the fire risk.

Silkie, you are wise to test, but unless he has additional symptoms you didn't mention, it sounds to me more like summer seasonal allergies.

The cats were sad and grumpy when I left the house today. They're not used to being alone all day.

DH now says he has sinusitis. Since last Thursday he said he has had hayfever with cough (which he has never had before), a sick bug where he vomited 3 times, a really bad cold and hacking type cough, a headache, tiredness, aches in his side and now sinusitis. I hope it is not covid, he was telling me the week before how he didn't need to be careful as he had 2 vaccines and so couldn't get ill from covid. Though its hard to tell you get people testing positive with no symptoms and other people testing negative with lots.

Just spent day trying to sort ehcp and schools.

Gingerwarthog · 07/09/2021 18:33

Wartycat went missing for a few hours today sparking full on search party from
DD and DF who laid a trail of Dreamies for him. I was at work and blissfully unaware...
Apparently he pattered down the stairs around 11.30 to their delight. DD indignant and feels he was hiding....
Allotment looks tidy and I am sitting outside the shed with DD having watered it. There will be storms over the next few days. Wishing I'd planted gladioli....

Silkiescatz · 07/09/2021 19:42

DH is taking his temperature but is pretty deaf. It beeped at 36.2C but DH announced his temperature was 83C Confused Now he is taking it again and he said it is at 36.9C but claims it also hasn't beeped. He has slept most of the day.

It has finally cooled to 23C after hitting 29C earlier.

We are having a Chinese takeaway. DH asked DS would you like a Chinese, bear? Then we realised this would be a panda so DS was keen. Silkiecat may be less keen. Rabbit would be excited and jump on the panda.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 07/09/2021 21:06

Silkie Here you are :

HelenaJustina · 07/09/2021 21:08

I’m not a panda fan. They seem to be trying their utmost to go extinct, despite lots of time, energy and money spent trying to persuade them otherwise. Let the buggers go west I say.

HelenaJustina · 07/09/2021 21:11

In dull news, I’ve cleaned the bathrooms and am trying to write a food shopping list but am struggling to summon the necessary sense of urgency.

Silkiescatz · 07/09/2021 21:13

Thanks Prok That is a lovely panda video. I sent it to DS who worships pandas.

honeygriff · 07/09/2021 21:15

Very sunny today. Drove DD to school as is first day. Did light housework & had a friend visit for coffee until time to help the parental unit with their big move. Reserved a parking space in our cul de sac so we could get our trailer loaded with their plant pots . Sorted it all out. So sunny went to tourist pub and chatted to nice ladies about living in our area. Blinder of a day! 🌞

MissConductUS · 07/09/2021 21:28

Welcome, @honeygriff, and thanks for sharing your day's news. Did your parents move somewhere close and were they living with you until now?

It was quite sunny and hot here today as well.
