Champagne sorry about ba money I have 600 in Air Asia vouchers, thankfully bank clawed back other 600 but they are like a mirage, try to use them and they are not currently available for use for anyone ever. Hmm Its like the Russian system of we pretend to work, you pretend to pay us.

Sorry Hog house is also lurgy filled. Currently just dh here. I did feel slightly ill which I am sure was not connected at all with the entire packet of French chocolate biscuits I ate. Just hoping does not hit in car ride, that will be fun. Dh has had a cough for 2 weeks as well which he says is hayfever but he never normally gets hayfever though as its 24 hours probably sick bug unless delayed food poisioning, mostly eat the same though but he had a crab sandwich a couple of days ago in Lynton on Wed. We did have a communal sharing meal Thurs night though kids ate theirs first though my hand gel is the 5th member of our family according to dd and I almost never get sick bugs, last time was about 20 years ago.

It's annoying because we could really use the money. I have had to take a loan from DM and therefore cannot go jetting off to far flung lands in a few months time. I can't cancel the flights as I will only get the tax back, but think I can reschedule.

I will attempt an assault on their dastardly phone system at 8am when they open.

Lemonsandlemonade · 04/09/2021 07:21

Hi all sorry to hear of these holiday woes.

Been a busy couple of days.

DS after dutifully sleeping solidly through from 8 weeks decided not to at 12 weeks and night before last woke every 45 mins - almost killed me. He kept turning over onto his tummy but isn’t consistent enough to turn back for me to leave him!!

Better night last night though. I didn’t sleep too well but he did.

Had second Covid jab yesterday feel fine so far.

HelenaJustina · 04/09/2021 07:51

Mine were all tummy sleepers as soon as they could roll, they much preferred it and slept much better.

I’m off for a run (early for me on a Saturday) as have a busy day ahead. DH is grumpy with me as I accidentally left the weekday alarm on, it went off at 5.55am and he will claim he hasn’t been back to sleep since the snoring suggests otherwise

Littleants · 04/09/2021 08:06

I had a dream I was in Afghanistan. We were indoors and men and women were playing football together.

OhWhyNot · 04/09/2021 10:07

MissConductUS I shall add that to my list! I ended up going to bed and listening to Stephen Fry’s Edwardian Secrets which is brilliant as was Victorian Secrets on Audio

Littleants I used to dream I was in Afghanistan when the war first started but it was about me feeling trapped (which in thankfully nothing like the people there it’s a living hell)

Gingerwarthog · 04/09/2021 11:51

Thank you all.
House of Hog is lurg free and Wartycat is sleeping peacefully, DH is doing some important work stuff (in reality watching Ted Lasso and playing on-line chess) and DD is reading a book about octopuses. I am ensconced in Montalbano and reading descriptions of him eating seafood (including octopus) which I do not share with DD as she would be horror struck. Although she eats squid...

Squirrel26 · 04/09/2021 12:21

I am sitting on the sofa drinking coffee and repeatedly shouting 'what are you doing?' Up the stars because that briefly interrupts the dog from whatever it his he's up to. Which I suspect is something he shouldn't, but I CBA to go and sort it out.

CapybaraConnoisseur · 04/09/2021 12:25

last day this week at work, i need a well needed rest. i've had insomnia for 2 months now, i think i need bath and bed!

sproutsandparsnips · 04/09/2021 13:26

Gingerwarthog I love Montalbano! Sadly the author is now deceased so there will be no more.
Just about to take ds2 and friend to watch our village rugby team play away. I am concerned I won't find where to park and will be driving around all afternoon muttering under my breath.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 04/09/2021 13:37

My GP is happy with the weight I am - little danger of getting a weight related and cost inducing illness. BUT - while DH was trying on trousers I had a long look at myself in a large mirror by natural light. I have decided to lose 6 kg (I think you call that a stone?). Fatsecret allows me 1300 cal / day. Bah!

Silkiescatz · 04/09/2021 13:45

We are now back home set off at 6.15am and missed the traffic. DH is better and no-one else is ill. DD is off at 6th form open day then meeting with friends.

We had a bit of a flea invasion whilst we were away not sure how that is possible with no pets here Hmm but we will now be flea spraying.

Will get pets back tomorrow though may get Silkiecat back today if can flea spray/hoover fast enough.

HelenaJustina · 04/09/2021 16:19

I heart Montalbano so much, in my secret second life I’m either Ingrid or the young beautiful bank manager…

MissConductUS · 04/09/2021 16:26

Welcome, @CapybaraConnoisseur, and thanks for sharing your sleepless news. I also have a sleep disorder, but I take medication for it, which helps a lot.

I've been on the new exercise bike for a long ride and it's much nicer than the old one, except that the seat is a bit hard. For the time being, I've just folded over a small towel and put that on the seat.

It's a lovely day here, finally. DH and I are driving over to see my MIL and take her out to dinner at a nice seafood place she likes, but we've never been to before. Perhaps I'll have the fish and chips. Grin

But not poor long suffering Livia! There are two more ... The Cook of the Halcyon (out Sept 16) and another whose name I can't recall!
Gingerwarthog · 04/09/2021 18:34

Silkie - please update on Silkiecat!!!

Silkiescatz · 04/09/2021 18:46

We tried to get Silkiecat but you have to have appointment due to covid so need to get tomorrow at 11am instead. I miss Silkiecat but dh says he wants to sleep and for more flea spray before she is back, done it once but he thinks we need twice. Rabbit and silkies are picked up at 6pm tomorrow.

Ds has had his annual bath and in his onesie. Dd is still out with friends.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 04/09/2021 18:54

NDN's cats are off with me - they want more food, but I have my instructions.
Something very calming: on DH's balcony is a lavender plant that has gone to seed and 4 greenfinsches came to feed - lovely!

sproutsandparsnips · 04/09/2021 20:46

Ooh Gingerwarthog that news is too exciting!
I found the car park easily I am pleased to report.

Gingerwarthog · 04/09/2021 21:58

Yes Sprouts I did think carefully before I posted it ... however, best interests of posters etc...
I have pre-ordered it on my Kindle.Grin
In other news spent the afternoon on the beach and swam in the sea ( some front crawl). Life guard on surfboard paddled past me and DH and chatted about riptides and currents. Felt like a proper hardcore swimmer.Smile

Sunbird24 · 04/09/2021 23:48

Hay fever has hit me like a freight train this evening, after leaving me alone for most of the summer. Have also discovered that eating too much chorizo has a somewhat unfortunate effect on my digestive system… Is paprika intolerance a thing? 🤷🏻‍♀️

Silkiescatz · 04/09/2021 23:53

I have also got a bit of hayfever back and was very happy to discover a pack of anti histamines on my return, hope yours improves soon Sunbird. I am allergic or intolerant to garlic, does it have that in Sunbird?

Sunbird24 · 04/09/2021 23:58

Ooh that was with lucky or very good planning, well done! I’ve double-dosed with cetirizine as the usual dose had no effect. It’s the sneezing that’s driving me bonkers!
I don’t think it’s the garlic, never had an issue with that in anything else and I do like garlic, but I have had this issue before with chorizo if I eat too much of it. Easily manageable by only having it in small amounts I suppose!

Lemonsandlemonade · 05/09/2021 08:18

@MissConductUS what did you end up eating?

Silkiescatz · 05/09/2021 11:51

Maybe read the ingredients Sunbird and see one by one. I can tolerate garlic in small amounts but not the amount the French put in their food so I tell to get ill every time we go to France unless I avoid their garlicky stuff.

DH has gone to get Silkiecat. He has just sent me this message
I’ve been told off. 😾 He was late as he was cleaning Silkiecat's shelf of her fur. I'm not sure how Silkiecat will feel about that. She loves clean but loves her fur too.
