All the horns are setting off some dogs barking

Gingerwarthog · 30/08/2021 17:58

DF has just pulled his hand out of his pocket with a look of horror, announcing to everyone that something had bitten him. This turned out to be his own false tooth which he had forgotten about...
Meanwhile DD tells me 'OMG it's literally 1984' when asked to help make trifle with her Gran.
DH and Wartycat are reclining upstairs with DFIL - and I spent two hours in town looking for redcurrrant jelly, Percy Pigs and shortbread for DMIL.
Now stripping the skin off salmon for fish pie.
Wine beckons.

nancybotwinbloom · 30/08/2021 18:09

Came home from pride and I've spent the day slowly drinking cider, having a Chinese and dancing on and off in the kitchen. Despite two showers I still keep finding glitter.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 30/08/2021 18:15

DH tried to buy a pair of trousers, but admitted he needs help from people with better eyesight and honest opinions. So either DD or I will help him tomorrow.

MissConductUS · 30/08/2021 18:26

DH buys his trousers from Lands End. We know how they fit and look on him and the customer service is very good. He also doesn't have to go out to shop, which makes it easy to overcome any lethargy about it. We regularly get discount codes from them in email too.

I have to leave for the dentist in about an hour and a half. The crown is upper front, so I'm quite happy to leave my mask on for now.

Miss I have a rain jacket from Lands End and DH used to buy their turtleneck sweaters until they were discontinued.

There is nothing for me in the current catalogue. I am more a Deerberg person Grin, if it has to be new.

MissConductUS · 30/08/2021 19:44

Prok, Lands End outerwear is legendary. Our whole family has their fall jackets and winter parkas. I'm surprised you can't get their turtleneck sweaters. They are still available in the US.

Men's Turtlenecks (8)

Miss They are not the same - these are sold here as 'T-Shirt-Rollis'. They have changed (modernized) the cut and thickness of the material. DH has one cherished 'Pulli' left.

Silkiescatz · 30/08/2021 20:16

Just been swimming.

Dh gets his jumpers from Edinburgh Woollen Mill, all identical of course, but he does have different colours, apparently for me. 😁 All lambswool round neck.

Silkiescatz · 30/08/2021 20:17

And he of course has to wait for the sale before buying as you cant just rashly go out and splurge on jumpers every 5 years.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 30/08/2021 20:23

Silkie Exactly! Grin

Gingerwarthog · 30/08/2021 20:57

Once bought DH a V neck jumper.... and got the sort of look that Wartycat reserves for me if I brush him for too long...
Round neck, navy blue only.

Gingerwarthog · 30/08/2021 20:58

Also. All T shirts must be grey.

Silkiescatz · 30/08/2021 21:03

Ds is headed the same way. When I said ds would you like these trousers or these ones from the shop ds replied Mummy I already have trousers look i am wearing them, why do I need another pair?

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 30/08/2021 21:09

Silkie Yep, got one of those, too. Grin

But then I have two pairs of jeans, 2 weeks worth of unisex linen shirts and lots of cotton T-shirts for under the shirts.

OhWhyNot · 30/08/2021 22:43

I’m contemplating getting my winter duvet out maybe a little bit early

It’s a highlight of winter. I can remember mentioning it last year Blush

Champagneforeveryone · 31/08/2021 00:45

ohwhynot, DH is agitating for this too, as well as his winceyette brushed cotton bedding.

Mother Nature has gifted me a recent change in core temperature so I'm not keen, but the campaign continues Grin

ElGuardiandenoche · 31/08/2021 02:02

@Champagneforeveryone, do what my DH and I do and have our own duvets. It works a treat and no arguments about too hot or too cold.

Lemonsandlemonade · 31/08/2021 02:14

@ElGuardiandenoche love the idea of separate duvets I am very odd no matter how hot I am could have no duvet on me at all from shoulders down I have to have duvet around my neck and also hold onto the corner of it. This drives DH mad as I Chuck rest of duvet onto him but always want my corner.

Currently feeding baby. He isn’t usually awake at this time but has been unsettled since midnight due to the flipping dog howling.

ElGuardiandenoche · 31/08/2021 03:59

@Lemonsandlemonade, we have a king size bed and each have a double duvet. He has a 4 tog all year round with the addition of an Ikea woollen throw blanket thing in the very depths of winter or just a sheet in the height of summer. I have a 10 tog with the addition and subtraction of an Ikea woollen blanket throw thing plus I have a treasured Witney wool blanket plus a hot water bottle in the depths of winter. This way leads to bliss 😀

Jconnais1chansonquivavsenerver · 31/08/2021 07:51

Thank you for the welcome, @MissConductUS. I didn't swim yesterday, I got too caught up in my Audible book and have just started the net one in the series. I also did some but not all of the washing-up (there is a massive amount for stupid reasons) and sprayed against the army of ants which invaded the kitchen sink at the same time and cleaned up the resultant mess and also did the hoovering (which doesn't often get done for stupid reasons, see above). Today I are going for coffee by the sea with friends and later will be searching for chicken livers and double cream (nothing to do with the Brexit effect, but I live in a European country where fresh proper double cream is unknown and chicken livers don't seem to be a thing, though there are plenty of hens around here giving me an unwanted early morning call every day).

OhWhyNot · 31/08/2021 08:05

@Champagneforeveryone I’ve noticed in the last month a few times I’m suddenly very hot in the night. But my winter duvet is so cosy I love it. Mother Nature spoiling this too Angry

I’m contemplating wearing a light jumper to work there is a chill in the air

Jconnais1chansonquivavsenerver · 31/08/2021 08:41

@OhWhyNot A friend of mine posted a photo of her child starting secondary school yesterday, in the north of mainland Europe. I was struck that the child was wearing a warm-looking cardigan over what I think was a long sleeved t-shirt, jeans, and sandals with bare feet. As my mother used to say, I just felt cold looking at her!

ElGuardiandenoche · 31/08/2021 09:46

I was supposed to be going up to the school today to sort out the second hand uniform cupboard (the PTA are taking over running it) but had an email from the school this morning that the corridor it is in can’t be accessed yet and they’ll let me know when it can. Might go to the beach instead.

Gingerwarthog · 31/08/2021 10:01

Family house guests have all gone so House of Hog seemed strangely quiet this morning.
Towels and duvets in the wash.
Weather has got cooler and it has started to feel a bit Autumnal.
DM bought me a beautiful coat in the sales yesterday (Sandwich, black and green check) and I keep taking it out of the wardrobe to try it on.
