What film do you want to watch, but daren’t because you know you will cry

I keep hearing good reviews about Haichi and I really want to watch it. But I also know I would probably spend most of the time sobbing my heart out, so I’ve avoided it.

The last animal lead film I think I watched was either Marley and Me or War Horse. Both left me in inconsolable tears Grin

I’m a wuss

ET, fly away home, free willy, land before time, all dogs go to heaven, lion king. All of the greats, I want to introduce my son to them but know i’ll start bawling 😂

A Monster Calls

The raw emotion is incredible but moves you to tears.

ActonSquirrel · 06/08/2021 14:04

I cried reading war horse the book. The film was rubbish and didn't move me at all.

Bluesheep8 · 06/08/2021 14:04

War Horse
Black Beauty - seen but can't watch again

GingerFigs · 06/08/2021 14:05

Up

suckingonchillidogs · 06/08/2021 14:06

Sophie's Choice

ArrrMeHearties · 06/08/2021 14:08

Marley and me. I watched it before I got my first ddog and sobbed and when I adopted him in 2012 I went to watch it but couldn't and still now won't watch it even though he's not with me anymore and we have ddog2

MaMelon · 06/08/2021 14:08

Hi don’t cry as such but La La Land makes me ridiculously sad - it’s just not the ending the film deserved.

Yutes · 06/08/2021 14:09

Me Before You
Love and Other Impossible Pursuits

BastardMonkfish · 06/08/2021 14:09

I can't watch any animated films anymore since they put Coco on last Christmas and I sat and cried my bloody eyes out. Left me feeling a bit sad all Christmas evening!

Hachi…. 😢😢

H8H8H8 · 06/08/2021 14:15

Ha! Posted that before reading your OP properly @Soubriquet

QuitMoaning · 06/08/2021 14:17

I am Sam.

Full on ugly crying with that one.

Also “8 below” but that was more happy sobbing

REP22 · 06/08/2021 14:27

War Horse (Topthorn's last scene) and the end of Marley and Me. I also recall crying wretchedly at Shiloh (1996 dog film) whilst babysitting, to the amusement of the kids, though in mitigation my own dog had recently been euthanised. I didn't tell them why I was so upset.

Schindler's List, The Pianist and The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas. Also United 93.

But I also cried at The Animals of Farthing Wood. AND bits of Dogtanian and the Three Muskehounds. So I have form as a blub-fountain. Blush

CaptainMyCaptain · 06/08/2021 14:30

War Horse.

Barwell76 · 06/08/2021 14:30

Coco

Colinthedog · 06/08/2021 14:32

Agree with Up, and also Atonement

NotMyCat · 06/08/2021 14:32

Eight below had me crying
Hachi - full on sobbing uncontrollably so that I scared the cat who hid under the sofa

Datingandnoideahowto · 06/08/2021 14:33

Water ship down

Leafyhouse · 06/08/2021 14:33

Schindler's List. I'm going to make the kids watch it once they come of age, they need to know what humanity's capable of.

ElizaDoolots · 06/08/2021 14:35

TV series rather than a film but I would love to rewatch Its a Sin. It’s one of the most powerful things I’ve ever watched.
I’m heavily pregnant though and just know I can’t take it. I was a wreck after watching it the first time.

FlowerPower3110 · 06/08/2021 14:35

I watched Hachi when I was in my early 20s. It's such a sad story, I was indeed sobbing my heart out.

Same thing happend with Marley and Me, still refuse to rewatch it.

Other movies that made me sob: Me Before You, Up, The Boy In The Striped Pyjamas, The Pianist, The Bucket List
