For example, for me it's

freshly laid carpets,

rubber rings, anything smelling of armbands of floats etc

Antiseptic

Euthamol toothpaste (love the taste)

Petrol (when I open the little hole for petrol I have a quick sniff Blush)

The smell of my dog when he's wet, gorgeous!

CheerfulBunny · 05/08/2021 18:28

Germoline - mmm! It smells like root beer tastes and I love that as well.
Perming lotion in old fashioneded hairdressers. Reminds me of my mum and nana.
In a similar vein but not a 'weird' smell but I really love Elnett hairspray. It makes me feel like a grown up lady when I wear it.

Petrol

honeylulu · 05/08/2021 18:33

I like petrol and also creosote. I remember my dad painting the garden fence with creosote and thinking it smelled so delicious I wanted to go out and lick it.

I also like the smell of damp face flannels. So does my 7 year old (unprompted).

spinningspaniels · 05/08/2021 18:34

I love the smell of tar. When I was little I had whooping cough, and my Dad boiled up a pot of tar in his shed which I had to sit and breathe in. I get really excited when I see roadworks Grin

NoWordForFluffy · 05/08/2021 18:34

Creosote here too. I have fond memories of hot summer holidays with loads of people creosoting their fences!

Silvergreen · 05/08/2021 18:35

Very light BO in a lover's armpit 🤣

SheepPixie · 05/08/2021 18:36

Another fan of creosote and tar here too.

dementedma · 05/08/2021 18:38

Musty old books
Churches
Wintergreen muscle rub

LtDansleg · 05/08/2021 18:38

It’s weird that everyone says things like petrol and permanent markers when asked this question. It can’t be that weird if the majority of people like it

AluckyEllie · 05/08/2021 18:38

Savlon - I open the tube just to smell it 😅.

TheWordOfBagheera · 05/08/2021 18:40

Some types of old plastic when they start to get a bit brittle and are probably degrading slightly. I don't know which plastic it is, I just know the smell when I smell it. One of the kids old dolls smells of if, and the bathroom window frame does Blush. It's similar to a BO smell, but the nice kind.

MissCherryCakeyBun · 05/08/2021 18:41

Cordite
Creosote on a hot fence in summer
Castrol-R racing oil
Both new and old books
The unique oily diesel smell of Tanks ( yup as in the Army etc)
Detol
GrinGrinGrin

pandora206 · 05/08/2021 18:41

Linseed oil, takes me back to the art room at my old school.

junipoor · 05/08/2021 18:41

I love the smell of hairspray too Star

And Savlon! And paint, I always want to have a sneaky lick of paint. Did it once... I was pregnant Blush And I had to ban myself from going near it because I liked the taste

I also like sniffing flannels, and towels, love a good chew on a wet flannel... I'm very sensory for an otherwise nondescript person

Bleach. I had nightmare grouting in the shower in my last house and was forever having to blast it with spray bleach, I grew to love the smell of it.

ISpeakJive · 05/08/2021 18:43

The smell of tinsel and pine trees/needles. Just reminds me of Christmas.

Freshly cut grass reminds me of lazy summer days...

Amdone123 · 05/08/2021 18:43

No to petrol. It makes me feel sick and gives me an instant headache.
Yes to tar. As kids we used to sit for hours messing with melted tar in the road. We used wooden sticks. Was a great activity.

HBC125 · 05/08/2021 18:43

Mouldy leaves in the woods in autumn

NotanotherboxofFrogs · 05/08/2021 18:45

My partner's armpits, before deoderant I like to lift up his arms and steal a sniff - it's a strange one and he finds it hilarious.

I love sniffing the cats paws and their ears

Chunkymenrock · 05/08/2021 18:45

The old Elastoplast plasters of the 80s. Heaven!

HeronLanyon · 05/08/2021 18:47

Petrol. Absolutely love it.
Opening a packet of Gillette disposable razors. I have to inhale the smell.
The cardboard used for paper towels. Lovely !
Newly sawed sawdust. Best whilst still warm.
Firefighters (but I no longer use the chemical ones - I miss that smell).

Pieceofpurplesky · 05/08/2021 18:47

The stuff they clean floors with in hospitals and schools.

Pavements just after it's rained

Wild garlic

SerenShine · 05/08/2021 18:47

I love the smell of rain on a warm day.

And my dogs cheeks.

NotanotherboxofFrogs · 05/08/2021 18:47

Vicks vaporub is up high on my list too, it reminds me of my mother who liked eating it, she averaged at least a tub per day
