rubber rings, anything smelling of armbands of floats etc

Antiseptic

Euthamol toothpaste (love the taste)

Petrol (when I open the little hole for petrol I have a quick sniff Blush)

Pine disinfectant. It has to be the really cheap stuff though from the pound shop.

Also my dog’s paws. That lovely warm biscuity smell is just heaven 😍

Dry cat food
New carpet

My dad's first cd player (c.1988?) gave off an amazing warm plastic smell, I can still remember it now, it was amazing!

LemonRoses · 05/08/2021 20:13

Not odd:
Petrichor
New carpets/carpet shops
Freshly washed hair
Running natural water
Sudocrem
Germoline
Burnt wood from being drilled or shaped

Possibly odd:
The cheesy gunk that comes out of an old piercing....

Midnightstar76 · 05/08/2021 20:17

Oh .. and creosote- couldn’t remember the word but see it’s others fave “odd smell “ too!

AtleastitsnotMonday · 05/08/2021 20:20

The inside of a mint tic tacs box. Not that bothered by the sweets themselves but I adore the smell of the box.

SprayedWithDettol · 05/08/2021 20:21

Swan Vesta matches. My grandpa used them when he lit his pipe. I used to sit on his knee and blow them out. It always takes me back to those days.

And creosote.

FlorencenotRatchet · 05/08/2021 20:25

Brown paper bags

lifeinlimbo2020 · 05/08/2021 20:27

@junipoor ooooooo. All the ones you do except petrol. Switch that for tarmac being laid 👍 my uncle and Aunty used to own a cafe with a beach front tat type shop with rubber armbands, swimming toys etc, had to walk through the store room to get to their 'house' and man I loved the smell in there 🤣 and the smell of a catalogue

lifeinlimbo2020 · 05/08/2021 20:28

@ISpeakJive

The smell of tinsel and pine trees/needles. Just reminds me of Christmas.

Freshly cut grass reminds me of lazy summer days...

Ahhh. Love this too.
Newnamefor2021 · 05/08/2021 20:28

Chlorine and bleach. 🤤

Roystonv · 05/08/2021 20:28

Ferrets with their honey stinkiness.

happymummy12345 · 05/08/2021 20:29

My favourite smells are

Freshly cut grass.
Petrol.
Chlorine.

(all fairly common I'd guess.

Less common ones I love are

The smell after fireworks, like the Smokey smell that's left in the air, especially after bonfire night.

Milton sterilising fluid. Well any Milton product actually. (We cold water sterilised when we had a baby, as did my mum. I loved changing the steriliser because of the smell). I use Milton products for cleaning as much as possible.

Acrylic liquid. The purple coloured liquid that the acrylic powder is mixed with to create acrylic nail extensions. I get my nails done once a fortnight, and I love the smell of the liquid. (Ironically my nail technician hates the smell of it though).

waterlego · 05/08/2021 20:31

@ZealAndArdour

Agree with brochures and catalogues, I think it’s the same smell I was alluding to me in my textbook one.

Also fond of the smell of electrical stuff when it’s in use and got warm. BRB, off to sniff the back of the WiFi router.

Ah, I missed your post about textbooks, but yes, those too sometimes!
