1990s trainers when they were fresh out the box. A lovely rubber/chemically smell you don't seem to get any more. It might even be specifically Nike.

My DP has a classic car and the smell in general, inside and when the engine is running is just awesome. Also, my dogs feet. They smell like popcorn.

The chlorine at swimming pools - think it reminds me of when we used to go swimming when we were kids

My dh slightly musky smell when he hasn't showered!

The smell of my dog when he's wet, gorgeous!
Me too! Damper or dry springer - I truly love the smell. It reminds me of all the good things in life.
cushioncovers · 06/08/2021 10:29

Can't think of any weird smells but I love the smell of horses muzzles, pulled crackers, struck matches and vicks vapour rub.

CormoranStrike · 06/08/2021 10:31

CommanderBurnham · 06/08/2021 12:47

Roasted ajwain seeds

NoddingTulip · 06/08/2021 12:50

Silage...... its not poo (that's slurry), its fermented grass and smells deliciously sweet.

JustLoveYourselfALittle · 06/08/2021 12:55

New carpet

Weed, not the type that grows in your grass.. Never smoked it but love the smell!

Sun dishwasher tablets. I could stand with my head in the box all day (this started when I was pregnant, it's not as strong now but still love the smell)

Sponges
Sponges are my absolute favourite! I love smelling them, feeling them. Occasionally tempted to have a chew. I love soapy sponge asmr.
Bbq1 · 06/08/2021 13:05

Oh yes, an instant Christmassy smell.

Petrol Fire lighters The smell of an iron monger shop And old cobbler shop
Ohhh yes - the smell of a traditional ironmonger’s - there was one in the town near where I grew up - Mumfords - and they sold everything - and if they didn’t have it, it would be ‘…in on Friday’ (they never actually said which Friday, though!
Madlymumming · 06/08/2021 13:32

Gripfix glue. White tub, blue lid with a chunk of wax on top. It was used in our local library to fix the date stamp sheets in books.

Can still imagine the smell now but haven't seen it anywhere for very many years.

@HeronLanyon

FireLighters ffs Grin
Hmm think i like the first version better 😂
jeeezusmaryandjoesph · 06/08/2021 13:44

Moth balls... I have them in the Hoover bag no one else appreciates them in our house

Fancymice · 06/08/2021 13:47

Horse poo!

Horses noses as well, I always hope to find friendly horses when out walking who will let me give their nose a good sniff!

Rabbits - they smell like a fresh cloud with a hint of hay

My parents old cats tail - he was a long hair, and didn't seem to wash it so it smelt like a fascinating mixture of old books with a botanical outdoorsy overtone. I'd always surreptitiously sniff it before he noticed and became enraged!

peaceanddove · 06/08/2021 13:59

I love the smell of DH's dressing gown - it's a heady combination of very faint BO + his shower gel + his aftershave. Sometimes when he's away and I'm missing him I wrap up in his dressing gown just so I can smell him Blush

DD2's feet! And the sweatier the better. Her feet are absolutely adorable because she's only a size 3 and has really chubby toes, like toddlers.

Gripfix!! It smelt like marzipan. Some kids tried to eat it. It dried up in crunchy blobs round tye edge of the pot. Blimey, I havn’t thought about that stuff for nearly 40 years, and now I’m straight back in 4th year Juniors.
