There’s always something I forget! Our car is all packed for the off tomorrow but it feels like I’ve forgotten something.

A coat when we were going to the Highlands and it was fucking freezing all week.
I ended up wearing my pyjamas under my clothes and then then two jumpers.

Incywinceyspider · 29/07/2021 20:08

Not me but my parents once went camping and forgot the tent poles Grin

Ricekrispie22 · 29/07/2021 20:08

We haven’t been away for so long, the prospect is really quite strange for the dc. They’ve just spent about an hour going round the house checking whether we need things or telling me that we must take certain things:
“mummy, I think we should take our own mugs so we don’t get germs from other people.
“Mummy, I need to take a different bedtime story for each night”
“Mummy, do you think I should take my swimming goggles?”

DH forgot a formal shirt to wear to a wedding. I'd picked it up from the dry cleaners, and he'd assumed I'd packed it. We'd flown, so no car and spent the next day walking ALL over a tiny town, remote village trying to find a formal shirt. He ended up borrowing one from a groomsman and had make-shift cufflinks from my earrings!

In Thailand, we had an internal flight to an island. Unpacked, then at night when I took my contacts out, realised I must have left my glasses at previous hotel. Spent the next day finding an opticians that could remotely speak English and finally got a new pair. Last day of holiday, I unpacked the safe and realised I'd somehow put my glasses in there when we'd arrived!!!

AnxiousWeirdo · 29/07/2021 20:09

My suitcase 🤦🏻

Namechangeforthis88 · 29/07/2021 20:10

Not once but twice DH has hung his suit on the back of the front door so that he doesn't forget it when we go to a wedding, then left it hanging there. He had a race against time getting a suit, tie and shirt in Copenhagen.

Went to a very posh birthday party - left my outfit hanging up in the kitchen.

Not me but DP has forgotten driver's licence twice when the holiday involved a lot of driving. I have mine with me all the time, so I had to drive and I hate driving on the 'wrong' side of the road. It's not deliberate on DP's part as he prefers to drive, he's just genetically predisposed to forget stuff.

He's arrived on holiday with no pants other than the ones he was wearing. Cost a small fortune to but him some fake Calvin Kleins.

Beamur · 29/07/2021 20:11

My husband loaded the car with our luggage for a week away. Left behind the bag with all my toiletries in it. Including contact lenses solutions and my glasses.
We had a very frosty search in rural Scotland for replacements on a Sunday...

ShadowInVain · 29/07/2021 20:11

I once spent hours compiling a holiday playlist on my i-pod (going back a bit). Remembered to pack the i-pod but forgot its charging lead.

SpongebobNoPants · 29/07/2021 20:11

My child?

Oh god, and on same holiday, I forget to check that then 7yr old Dd had her favourite toy, Monkey, when we left a cafe.
Luckily I thought to check when we weren't too far away as we were going on to another place 100ish miles away.
Monkey was snoozing under the table.
Dd is almost 20, we still have Monkey and both recovered from the ordeal.
I'm not sure I have!

BikeRunSki · 29/07/2021 20:11

All my stuff.
I’d hit everything the dc needed and spare. I wore the same clothes got 4 days. Bought some socks and a toothbrush at a service station.

unlimiteddilutingjuice · 29/07/2021 20:12

Festival tickets.
Luckily it was a very small, very friendly festval and the gate staff took the time to check us against the list in the office.
Could have been a disaster though.

MargotMoon · 29/07/2021 20:12

@WowIlikereallyhateyou

My EXH forgot his trousers after i asked him to check his clothes before they went into the case. All he had was a pair of jeans for a hot destination. He even tried to blame me. Twat.
My ex did something similar; claimed I'd forgotten to pack a bag of new clothes he'd bought especially for the holiday (shorts/vest tops for a beach holiday). This after I'd had to take over finishing his packing at 11 at night because he was still fucking faffing about even though we had to leave at 5am for our flight. When we got home his imaginary bag of clothes was nowhere to be found - turned out he hadn't bought them in the first place. Took me 2 more months to get rid but that holiday was the nail in the coffin.

I'm currently on holiday and have forgotten:
Eye drops
Tweezers
Enough face masks

HarrietOh · 29/07/2021 20:13

@OoglyMoogly

Forgot to pack my contact lens solutions and case. Had to find a supermarket open late as soon as we arrived Grin
Oh god I did this on a work trip to Edinburgh. Realised later in evening in hotel when I went to take them out queue me running around supermarkets in Edinburgh trying to find some before they closed!
Greenandcabbagelooking · 29/07/2021 20:13

I borrowed a tent from a friend the first time I went camping. She neglected to give me the pegs.

Notonthestairs · 29/07/2021 20:14

I packed everything for everyone. Left it all in the hallway to chuck into the boot. DH decides to help and put everything in the boot - apart from the suitcase with our clothes. We had cereal but no knickers.

We had to borrow and buy. Came home to minimal washing though!

Beetle76 · 29/07/2021 20:14

It will be something you would ordinarily have in the event of unusual circumstances.

On one trip I forgot my pjs. No big deal, I thought. Fire alarm went off in the middle of the night and had to troop downstairs (7 flights) in a hotel gown which took me ages to unknot from the hanger in my sleep-addled/siren-blaring/strobe light-flashing state.

First and only time I’d forgotten my pjs. First and only time I’d been caught up in a fire alarm too. Typical!

Jumbojem · 29/07/2021 20:14

I left my sleeping bag behind when going camping in Wales. It was not warm and OH thought it was hilarious.
I also once left our passports and tickets under a seat when waiting for a delayed flight home from Crete. Thankfully someone handed them in. I only realised I'd left them when we got called over the tannoy. Was happily wandering around the terminal!

Anotherunimaginativeusername · 29/07/2021 20:15

Just remembered I also once forgot the tent poles on a camping trip with mates!

BreadmanAndCake · 29/07/2021 20:16

Not me but a memorable one from a family camping trip as a child - not forgotten something per say, but almost as bad.
Family next to us rocked up to their tent pitch after us as we were sat on the camping chairs having a bbq. Get everything out of the car ready to go. As they went to unfurl their tent, it became apparent it was completely mould ridden and unusable. Needless to say they packed up and trudged home.

Another one, my uncle managed to forget his and my cousins suits and my aunts dress for mine and husbands wedding. They lived 3.5 hours from the venue so not an easy fix (it was a rural area with nowhere to source a replacement late in the evening). He drove back home and then back to the venue that night to retrieve them. A week or so later he got a letter through the post for a speeding fine. It was a more expensive mistake than first anticipated!

Spudlet · 29/07/2021 20:17

DS’s nightlight. He really doesn’t deal well with the dark… Confused

RainBow725 · 29/07/2021 20:18

One time I forgot the flight tickets and the hotel voucher. Fortunately we didn't need the flight tickets as they just checked us in on our passports. The hotel was a bit more awkward but eventually accepted the email I had on my phone and kindly printed them out for me.

Another time I left all our currency at home - it was Croatian Kuna which had been really difficult to get hold of. I lost about £60 exchanging it back when I got home.

In my defence, I am a single parent and there is just too much to remember on my own!

upaladderagain · 29/07/2021 20:18

Shoes. All of them apart from the flip flops I wore to travel in. It was a Lake District walking holiday staying in a posh country house hotel. Nightmare.

Spudlet · 29/07/2021 20:19

Oh and also, nude coloured pants when I had a pale dress to wear, on two separate trips. Both times I’d only packed black ones. Luckily both times I realised in time to buy some in the train station / airport!
