There’s always something I forget! Our car is all packed for the off tomorrow but it feels like I’ve forgotten something.

Neither DH or I took a single debit or credit card when we went abroad once, just cash. All fine until we ran out 😂 Luckily my son had his card so we transferred some money into his account for him to withdraw otherwise we’d have been a bit stuck!

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 31/07/2021 07:45

Currently camping.
I have apparently caused the end of the world by forgetting the teabags.

BikeRunSki · 31/07/2021 08:33

@Aroundtheworldin80moves, I love camping, but camping without teabags would be intolerable 😊

Not so much a holiday but for a wedding with an overnight stay in a hotel… our suitcases. Both of them. Left in a rush. Luckily we’d gone dressed for the wedding but no toothbrush, no pants, nothing for shoulders as it got colder later and it looked as if we’d both had an amazing time at breakfast the next morning. Hotel delivered toothbrushes thank goodness.

SardineJam · 31/07/2021 10:51

We went to Geneva, DH forgot his underwear, very expensive mistake!!

Axcis · 31/07/2021 13:18

Camping in France for 2 weeks. Forgot my meds. I take 4 pills that keep me ticking over. The pharmacist didn't speak much English and remembering my doses was hard, but we got there in the end and she sorted me out.

season2 · 31/07/2021 13:18

Not really a holiday but an overseas work trip. Imagine my surprise while standing at the checkin desk if I'm travelling with anyone because I'd just handed them my DH's passport instead of my own! Cue taxi home to quickly swap passports and leg it back to the airport. I always double and triple check when I pick up my passport now.

I headed off to the highlands of Scotland without my purse last week, so in a land of sketchy internet I had only Apple Pay to get by. We actually got on ok except that the hotel couldn't hold the deposit- they had to let me off with that as it stated on the website they encourage digital payments and listed Apple Pay as one of them. I also couldn't pay for parking in a national trust car park so guiltily chanced it and got away with it and we couldn't contribute by eating at the cafe either as the place didn't even have mains electricity let alone internet, contactless or RingGo 😅

maddy68 · 31/07/2021 15:17

My actual suitcase ;).

Had to buy everything when I got there. I'd left it in the hall at home

Sipperskipper · 31/07/2021 15:24

When I was a kid we were on our way to a family holiday in Cornwall. We got aboit 1.5 hrs into the journey and my mum realised she had forgotten her bras. We had to turn back!!

aquamarine2 · 31/07/2021 16:24

alcohol and a sense of humour.....

Beline4u · 31/07/2021 17:22

First aid kit, especially antihistamines.
Snacks bags
Chargers

Shallwegoforawalk · 01/08/2021 13:57

Toothbrush. Twice. Hmm I think it's because I pack most stuff the day before but need toothbrush in the morning and forget to put it in the packed bag.

After the second time, I bought a spare brush and a tube of toothpaste and they now live in my suitcase lid, ready and waiting!

CorvusPurpureus · 01/08/2021 14:33

Toddler dd2's very distinctive & utterly loved purple & red coat. It was Whitby in October & freezing.

No problem, nipped to charity shop, dd2 happy with new orange coat.

Until we passed another 4yo wearing an identical purple & red coat & dickhead xh pipes up 'oh look dd2. That little girl's stolen your coat!'

Epic meltdown was epic Hmm

I did exactly the same - they looked at my passport and said, "This isn't you!" Half an hour till the flight left. but miraculously I made it

  • DH had just dropped me off so would be no help, but neighbour had a key to our flat
  • found neighbour's phone number in a phone book (remember those?)
  • she was home and went round and got my passport
  • she drove to the airport and got there 5 minutes before my flight left

Wouldn't be possible to do that now, when security takes ages and then they close the gates so early.

We went camping in Scotland and my husband forgot the tent. Didnt realise until we were unpacking after a long drive to get there. Had to spend 350 quid on a new one - wed already spent similar on the original - and DSD hated camping and moaned non stop the entire time so we've never been again 🤣 although we did spend a weekend camping in the back garden during lockdown 1. We also once changed loads of money into Euros then left it at home so we had to get more out and then change the original money back when we got home, losing a good chunk of it in the process. That was DH as well

Dagnabit · 03/08/2021 19:03

Once, I forgot to pack ALL of ds’ clothes! Not sure what I was thinking! We had to walk to Exmouth from the holiday park (a lovely walk which we would have done anyway) then trek into the town, find the tiny Sports Direct and buy him some t-shirts, tracksuit bottoms, a hoodie and some shorts. Luckily, I had packed swim stuff and footwear.

BashfulClam · 03/08/2021 22:01

Shampoo when I went abroad…really expensive in the local spar!

2020nymph · 03/08/2021 23:15

DS was holding his favourite cuddly toy just before getting in the car to go away for the weekend, realised 10mins from the destination he had left it at home.

PennineWayinSlingbacks · 04/08/2021 00:44

Driving licence. Hired a car in the states and remembered just as we were about to land

This too. And despite the fact it was his licence and he was driving the car, ex-DH still managed to make it my fault.

Wheresmybiscuit3 · 04/08/2021 00:54

I forgot my makeup a few weeks ago. Pissed me off because understandably you can’t try any foundations at the moment... and they aren’t doing the colour match in boots for No7 either.

I am crap at picking the right shade... so it was made even harder with no testers or assistance 🙈

luckymagnoliatree · 04/08/2021 01:33

My purse! I was travelling out to Dubai to meet DH (although we weren't married then) who was out there for work. I was very impressed with myself as managed to get to the airport, all parked up and find my way etc all by myself, to then realise when I wen to buy some food when I was on the other side of the gates that my purse (with all my cards and money in) was in the car, I had moved it from my bag when I stopped at the services on the drive up! I literally didn't have a penny on me.

Panicked call to the airport parking who found my purse but they didn't have time to get it to me, they kept it safe for me until my return. A further panicked call to DH who had to send a taxi to collect me from the airport. I've never been so terrified of being stopped when going through airport security when I landed! Luckily it was all fine, however I will never live down the time I left my purse in the car "on purpose" when catching a plane, so that DH had to pay for everything whilst I was there. 🙈😂

Bythemillpond · 05/08/2021 06:22

PennineWayinSlingbacks

Dd had her driving licence but because she was only 18 none of the main car rental places would allow her to rent a car.

We ended up finding a tiny rental company which was situated behind LAX. The cars weren’t exactly up to date. The one we rented had 4 bald tyres, a section of the bodywork hanging off which we had to keep pushing back on and we nick named it the cannabis wagon because of what we found in the back.

We returned to our Airbnb one day and a small film crew were on the side of the road. There was definitely stunned silence when I stuck my hand out of the window clutching the key fob that opened the electronic gates of the rather nice gated residence in the Hollywood hills

DinosApple · 05/08/2021 06:59

Buggy. When I had a just under 2yo and 6 month old 🤦‍♀️.
We managed to buy one, amazingly, for £7.50 from Asda. It was terrible, but got us out of trouble for a few days.

Mynameisthecatwhogotthecream · 05/08/2021 07:53

Travel cot, dd1 was about 12 months. We both thought the other had put it in the car. Only realised when we were on the ferry.

Power cable for sat-nav, it's not a lot of use without power

All of dd2s tops, had to do am emergency dash to primark

Outfit for mils funeral, had to go and buy something quick

We really shouldn't go away 😁
