Where WOULD you go back to?

On the back of the other thread, which is really interesting, about places you wouldn't want to go back to, either because it was unpleasant or because you saw it all while there, I thought it would be interesting to know where people WOULD go back to.

I'll start:

New Zealand - beautiful, varied scenery around every corner. We only did parts of the South Island and I'd love to see more. Three and a half weeks were not enough!

Edinburgh - we do go back there regularly, it is a beautiful city with an amazing vibe.

Berlin - I loved it and wouldn't mind revisiting one day.

Aruba. Absolutely loved it there. Just too expensive to go back at the moment Sad

Roselilly36 · 23/07/2021 07:50

Toronto & Niagara Falls, been twice and would love to return someday.
Alicante City, beautiful so much to see, and surprisingly not many tourists, many fly in to Alicante for costal resorts and never see the city, which is a real shame.

Wells in Somerset, great place to visit, especially if you like the film Hot Fuzz, it was filmed there.
Edinburgh is a good shout to, haven’t been since a teen, but I really liked it.

London. Really miss it. I used to get free train travel through my job, now it's just so expensive to get to from the North East
French Riviera esp Cannes and Monaco
Italy, but not Venice

Whistler for skiing. Just love that resort.
Niseko, been skiing but would love to go during the summer.
Margaret River (Yallingup). We always have such a great holiday there.

Tbh though, I'd just love to leave HK- 16 months and counting stuck somewhere where you can drive end to end in 1 hour in light traffic.

Grindelwald in Switzerland. It was one of the most spectacular and yet tranquil places I have ever visited. I can't explain the emotional reaction I had to the the place. I can't wait to go back.

Finland - the sense of freedom and fresh air was amazing. And, top tip, go see Father Christmas in August, no queues.

Mexico City and Punta Mita on the Pacific Coast. What a wonderful country.

London. I feel alive there.

Paris. Always.

Malcesine in Italy.

NYC. I love it so much, I regularly dream I live there.

Tiddleztheelephant · 23/07/2021 08:09

Lesvos, I've been several times and am desperate to go back there.
Malta, beautiful country and lovely friendly people.
Mexico, loved my holiday but didn't feel I was able to explore the real country enough.

Lanique · 23/07/2021 08:14

These are lovely. I totally agree with Seville and Paris.

I'd like to go to Belfast and Iceland so will add these to the bucket list!

I have a real internal struggle deciding whether to go back to wonderful places or seek out new places we haven’t discovered yet.

Definitely on return list are
Hong Kong
India
Sr Lanka
Iceland (we go quite often)
Lake Bled
Montreaux
Biarritz
Stockholm
Istanbul
Budapest

dorothygaleandtoto · 23/07/2021 08:16

Canada. It's the only county I've visited that I would like to live in. I crave proper seasons, it's beautiful and I'd just love to explore more of it.

Lanique · 23/07/2021 08:19

@Roselilly36 I agree about Alicante. I've been there several times, and would really recommend it if you want an easy city break with a beach. Nicer IMO than Barcelona. Not as interesting, but it's more chilled and the beach is from memory cleaner and prettier. The city is more accessible and far nicer than the surrounding resorts! We went once during Semana Santa - the processions are great and it's hot enough at Easter for sunbathing on the beach. I like Valencia too.

Orford in Suffolk. Beautiful area. Lots of lovely walks and dog friendly pubs.

Arran. Spend lots of holidays there as a kid and still enjoy it as an adult.

Girona. Been twice and it’s just gorgeous and the food was amazing.

CaptainMyCaptain · 23/07/2021 08:23

Asturias in Northern Spain.

FuckingHateRats · 23/07/2021 08:23

Switzerland. Breathtaking scenery.

France. We've been about eight times and we never tire of it. Probably our favourite family holiday destination.

Tuscany.

vampirethriller · 23/07/2021 08:25

Budapest
Rome
Benidorm (I went not expecting much but we stayed in the old town and I had a lovely time)

furiouslytyping · 23/07/2021 08:28

Cinque Terre (Italy)
Edinburgh (been numerous times and love it)
Seville
Rome (have only been on couple of day trips from cruise)
Crete
Naxos (very authentic lovely restaurants)

To be fair I'd go back to any of the Greek islands apart from Mykonos!
