Percy from The Green Mile is on my list
The Captain from Pan's Labyrinth.
At least Half of the characters in Wuthering Heights.

There's a lot more but my mind has just gone blank.

Who are your nominations?

Ian Beale off Eastenders

That absolutely vile Plan B character in Harry Brown. When someone suggested HB was going to kill him even the copper said "Who gives a fuck if he is? He's a cunt. His Dad was a cunt and one day he'll have a load of cunty kids. As far as I'm concerned Harry Brown's doing us a favour!" 🤣

Frank's dad in The Wasp Factory.

3beesinmybonnet · 19/07/2021 15:24

Wickham in Pride and Prejudice.

BlackKnightinYellowWellies · 19/07/2021 15:28

Professor Umbridge. Evil with a giggle is the worst.

moynomore · 19/07/2021 15:30

Angel from Tess of d'Ubervilles. I think almost more odious than Alec.

AuntMasha · 19/07/2021 15:32

The narrator in ‘Gillespie and I’. Malignant obsession and stalker behaviour disguised as a mousy, unassuming single woman.

The original Osborne Whitworth in the first series of Poldark about 40 years ago. I’ve nothing against Christopher Biggins in real life but was totally creeped out as a child and haven’t watched the remakes because of his portrayal

Second that!

Agree about Angel Clare. I've always wondered, did Hardy want him to appear as such a sanctimonious, chauvinistic twat or was it deemed normal and acceptable in the spirit of nineteenth century to be such a sexist cunt.

KineticSand · 19/07/2021 15:36

John Veals the hedge fund guy in A Week in December by Sebastian Faulks. Totally despicable

PetticoatSoldier · 19/07/2021 15:40

Craster in Game of Thrones is an absolute vile scumbag.

LadyCatStark · 19/07/2021 15:41

Joffrey Baratheon in GoT.

Agree, he was awful. I bet it was fairly normal Sad I do reckon Hardy wanted to highlight this though.

Knowivedonewrong · 19/07/2021 15:47

Joffrey Baratheon.GOT
Walder Frey GOT
Ramsay BOLTON GOT
Roose Bolton GOT ( that bastard murdered Robb)

Patricia Carmichael Line of Duty.

I hate Toby Belch, Andrew Aguecheek and Maria in Twelfth Night. It's cruel and unkind how they treat Malvolio. I can't watch it again.

Also Count Fosco, but he's a fabulous villain.

TheChild · 19/07/2021 15:54

Ramsey Bolton.
What he did to Wanda and his newborn baby brother 😢 I can't ever re-watch that episode, I have to big my head a wobble and repeat "it's not real, it's NOT REAL"

BeautyGoesToBenidorm · 19/07/2021 16:04

Oh man, totally agree with Ramsay Bolton. Looking back, I can't believe I managed to watch ANY of his scenes.

Iwan Rheon played him brilliantly, but Jesus wept some of those scenes were just gratuitously horrible.

To be fair the the makers of the TV version, he was a lot worse in the books, a lot worse!
BeautyGoesToBenidorm · 19/07/2021 17:07

I've never read the books - I think I'll give them a miss now! I appreciate the warning 😅

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 19/07/2021 17:28
