Weird letter received

DH received this letter in the post today in a used NHS envelope that was stuck down with sellotape. Both of us are stumped to why it's been sent as I've googled and Mankind doesn't look to be part of NHS and the number is correct but the message on the letter has freaked us out,

has anyone ever had anything similar to this?

I think it's someone's bad idea of a practical joke.

Thegirlthatwanted2begod · 06/07/2021 21:21

@CupOfTPlease nooo we love each other to death, just a totally normal relationship, married for almost 6 years no issues apart from the odd time irritating each other

The fold also looks "old" if you see what I mean. It looks like a letter that someone has had a while, handled lots. And then decided to post on impulse, realised they didn't have an envelope, and just reused the nearest thing they had. (empty envelope from a psychiatric outpatient appointment?!?!?)

Overly invested in this mystery, clearly.

tealappeal · 06/07/2021 21:25

Personally, I would flag to the police in case it's a stalker.

CurlyhairedAssassin · 06/07/2021 21:29

OP, your other half hasn't fallen out with his mum, has he, because she doesn't like you? Confused

CurlyhairedAssassin · 06/07/2021 21:29

but doubt she'd speak in text speak....

Guavafish · 06/07/2021 21:30

? Affair

affor · 06/07/2021 21:33
@SecondCityShark

Nah no chance of affair, he texts me all day long always has, we both have find your friends on phones (usually for when one of us in in the pub before the other and can work out when to order another drink) and he rarely ever goes out or anything without me which is why we are so stumped
My affair partner had find my phone with his wife (and sister!) and his wife knew his log in. Means nothing. (Sorry OP just being realistic on that point)

louloubelx · 06/07/2021 21:33

Mankind in Brighton has a different tel number too…

Mummyoflittledragon · 06/07/2021 21:33

It’s the tel no of www.mankind.org.uk/

That’s a weird and creepy letter though and cannot be legit…

C0RINNA · 06/07/2021 21:33

I think it’s from someone who doesn’t know him, because theres no first name only surname. And it could be from someone who is stalking you or him. They might imagine if he leaves you or theres problems in the marriage then you will fall into their arms. ( I’m assuming here that you both have the same surname.)

If it was an ex partner or current affair partner they would use his first name as well as surname.

I’d keep the letter in case things escalate. And be vigilant with your security.

I reckon its someone you think of as a casual acquaintance, like someone who works in a shop you go to regularly / your hairdresser / a receptionist at work / a neighbour.

Because any of his / your friends would know his first name.

ZenNudist · 06/07/2021 21:34

Affair or nutcase ex

saleorbouy · 06/07/2021 21:34

Do you or your neighbours have any dash cam or doorbell cam footage that might shed some light on the delivery persons identity?

NoddyMcdoddy · 06/07/2021 21:34

I’d Ring the number and question who ever answers about the letter - block your number from showing first.

FlosCampi · 06/07/2021 21:34

Meaningless chain letter? " send this to six people on the electoral roll below your name or xyz will happen "?

Gensola · 06/07/2021 21:35

This is sooo weird! It must be a stalker or an ex, surely? The chances of someone of the same name living in the same house are quite small - unless a really common name?

caughtinanet · 06/07/2021 21:37

Could be a nutter or mistaken identity or someone who thinks you are abusing your husband but I don't think there's much you can do whatever it is unfortunately

chickenyhead · 06/07/2021 21:38

It would be highly unusual for any domestic abuse charity to place this where there was a risk of DV. Has to be a wind up.

Martyitsyourkids · 06/07/2021 21:38

How strange 🤔 agree keep hold just in case anything else pops up.

Charmtaste · 06/07/2021 21:38

Could there be anyone else in your block of flats with the same surname and it is not meant for your DP at all?

thebattleofschrutefarms · 06/07/2021 21:40

Is there any chance someone's perceived the texting all day, phone finding apps and rarely going out without each other as controlling behaviour/abuse? I'm not saying it is or anything but it would be a bit much for some people. Sorry.
Hopefully it's just a silly prank.
