As title, what property can you get in your area on a budget of £400,000?

A 2 bed terraced house on the edge of town or a one bed flat in the centre/ nr the station. I'm in Hertfordshire.

Wimpund21 · 22/06/2021 20:48

4 bed detached, excellent condition, mid sized garden, possibly sea views and in the best school catchment in the county.

bigbaggyeyes · 22/06/2021 20:49

North Nottinghamshire

St Albans - 2 bed flat.

AndwhenyougetthereFoffsomemore · 22/06/2021 20:51

A nice/character 2 bed apartment or a less nice 2 bed maisonette.

Itsprobablynotcominghome · 22/06/2021 20:52

One bed flat in central Cambridge.

Or a really nice garage.

DentonsFringeArnottsWaistcoat · 22/06/2021 20:52

Two bedroom flat with a sea view
Two bedroom bungalow on edge of farmland - but it’s semi derelict
Three bedroom ex council house in the least desirable location

SantiagoSky · 22/06/2021 20:53

An extension for my house or a really small and old studio flat (in Switzerland)

DentonsFringeArnottsWaistcoat · 22/06/2021 20:53

Oh, that’s Kent coast

OakPine · 22/06/2021 20:54

Centre of Edinburgh 2 bedroom flat if lucky enough to win in the "offers over" game. Probably one 1 bedroom flat if want something Georgian with high ceilings.

Pogostemon · 22/06/2021 20:55

4 bed semi that needs a bit of work. Naice suburb of a Midland city.

Embracelife · 22/06/2021 20:56

@TheLovelinessOfDemons

4 bedroom flat. Fulham.
Really???
TentTalk · 22/06/2021 20:57

Mid sized 1930s semi. 3 or 4 beds, though the 4 beds are badly extended, ugly and in need if significant modernization. Or a 3 bed Victorian terrace. Or a small 1930s 3 bed (2 and a box) detached with postage stamp over-looked garden.

TentTalk · 22/06/2021 20:57

I'm Northwest

Alarae · 22/06/2021 20:58

Smallish 3 bed semi with garage and parking behind the property (no driveway).

Unsure33 · 22/06/2021 20:58

2 bed flat or 3 bedroom terrace

yikesanotherbooboo · 22/06/2021 20:59

2/3 bed semi or terraced house

Marcanana · 22/06/2021 21:01

The smallest two bedroom terrace in my postcode.

SunSeaSurfGin · 22/06/2021 21:03

Cornwall- a 4 bed detached house overlooking countryside. Somewhere on the coast it would be a 3 bed end of terrace

MrsMoastyToasty · 22/06/2021 21:05

My next-door- neighbour-but-one has her place on the market for £395k at the moment. It's a 1930s 3 bed semi with no garage. (Ours is 4 bed with an integral garage ).

SpiderinaWingMirror · 22/06/2021 21:06

Exactly 4 years ago I bought our 4 bed detached house for 400000. Nice part of East Sussex. Today, I could get a 3 bed semi.

Itsokthanks · 22/06/2021 21:07

3 bed detached which needs nothing doing to it or maybe a 4 bed that needs work.

mrsm43s · 22/06/2021 21:08

I just looked on rightmove to see!

Surrey.

Could get a 2 bed terrace or a 2/3 bed maisonette in an OK (but not massively desirable) area. Small 3 bed ex LA in very specific problem areas where most people wouldn't choose to live. (A small 3 bed ex LA in the desirable areas will set you back £600-750+,, in the OK areas £500-£600k). I think that you might also be able to get a 2 bed in one of the newly thrown up estates, but I didn't see any on RM, so can't really confirm.

Willwebebuyingnumber11 · 22/06/2021 21:09

3 bed semi to renovate with a good garden

80sPadme · 22/06/2021 21:09
