As title, what property can you get in your area on a budget of £400,000?

7/8 bedroom rural manor with land.

2 bed semi needing work. Less desirable Surrey.

Or a very basic but functional 3 bedroom flat right next to the tube station on a fairly lairy estate.

Just looked on Rightmove, mostly 4 bedroom, 2 bathroom detached.

Decent 4 bed detached period property with good gardens, parking and character.

My house twice with about 25k left over. A largish 3 bed semi with garage and large front and back garden

2-bed Victorian conversion flat, no garden, 57 sq m with the kitchen in the sitting room, and no bathroom window. Ah, London. Proper cunt of a city.

4-5 bed detached with garage/parking/good gardens. Derbyshire.

3 or 4 bed semi 😭

Or a really nice flat in a "nice" area.

Ugly 50s or 70s 3 bed semi or two up two down type Victorian terrace. Reasonable area, good schools. Home counties.

4 bed detached.

Not much.

A 9 year lease on a 2 bed flat (that's not a typo), an ex-LA 1 bed flat or a studio flat in a not very nice building that was filled with dodgy Air BnBs that are all being sold off. I think there was a thread on MN from someone who had rented a particularly filthy one a while back and was desperate to find a hotel!

TBF, I'm surprised there is anything other than very short leases. Prices have dropped (Central London).

Having checked Rightmove, more than I expected actually! 4 bed townhouse or three bed detached in a pretty reasonable area.

Large town, South East.

Large 3 bed or small 4 bed detached with a decent garden, small but nice village in SW.

A lot of snazzy 4/5 bed new builds , flats in period properties and these within a 10 mile radius.

£400,000? An impressively spectacular night out and resounding hangover, but then I live near Surbiton, and I think everyone knows what that means...

A two bed little terraced cottage, with a small garden and not much frontage garden area,and parking on the road with two wheels on the pavement on narrow road, sometimes can't find a space,as various newcomers now have two,and maybe three cars, village in HERTS. Most newcomers seem to like grey walls everywhere.

A big detached house ranging from 3-5 bedrooms with a huge garden and a garage. Aberdeenshire.

3 bed semi. Sussex/Surrey border.
