Nostalgic 90s teen ....

Just remembered 999 with Michael Burke. Gave me a lifelong fear of swimming after seeing an episode where a girl's hit got caught in a fan in the pool!

Impulse 02 gassing everyone.

Snatch the dog everything especially bedding!

Swimming badges sewn onto costumes. Found a cossie in a charity shop for 20p with 1000mt sewn on it which deluded everyone in my Y6 swimming class - I couldn't swim 1000mt 😂

Anymore?

Point horror and goosebumps books. Couldn't have a 90s thread without those getting a mention.

Indie music (pulp, blur, oasis, cast, suede, sleeper, dodgy, elastica etc).

The prodigy 😍 skunk anansie, soul asylum, red hot chilli peppers, the cranberries, manic street preachers. Oh my days, some of the music was amazing.

Some cracking films too: the nightmare before Christmas, pulp fiction, true romance, Independence Day, death becomes her 😂 hocus pocus, the lion king, beauty and the beast, home alone. Where is my time machine, I want to go back.

MistySkiesAfterRain · 14/06/2021 14:06

Hyper colour tshirts that changed colour with heat. Why these went out of fashion I will never know!

Northern Exposure, Keanu Reeves, Friends, Brad and Jen, flares, old school tracksuit tops and ski jackets.

Shopping in second hand vintage shops in Camden, Notting Hill, Rockit in Brighton, the Brighton bead shop.

I honestly wish it was still the 90s. A lot of what I wore is in now - been wearing statement and white trainers for years 😂

Tehmina23 · 14/06/2021 14:16

Omg! Britpop and the whole Blur Vs Oasis thing Grin Kate Moss and all her Cool Britannia druggie friends Wink

The Girlie Show was horrific, can anyone tweet Sara Cox? I'm a big fan of her bbc2 show 😅

stealingbeauty · 14/06/2021 18:47

All of this! Also I remember reading Sweet Valley Twins books, and moving onto the Sweet Valley High books when I got to year 7 or 8. Then a really trashy tv series Sweet Valley High came out, which I think was shown on Saturday mornings in the uk. Loved it!

I always bought Shout magazine, then Bliss, Sugar, More and Just 17. Once a free book came with one of these magazines called Diving In. I read it again and again. Even bought it from EBay last year for a reread. So nostalgic.

I am pretty sure I and my mates knew the number of our nearest phonebox and would give it out to people (boys) to call us on at a specific time 🤣

TheVolturi · 14/06/2021 19:09

Love this thread!
Colour hair mousse (wella)
More magazine, position of the fortnight, spending Saturday down the precinct with mates and trying on clothes in Bay Trading, Miss Selfridge Topshop. Morgan, Miss sixty. Body shop white musk, dewberry and vanilla body sprays. Witch stick for spots. Tiger balm. T shirts with little slogans on them. Jeans with glitter in them. Indiglo nightlight watches. Let loose crazy for you ❤️ loved the 90s!

MistySkiesAfterRain · 14/06/2021 19:14

Muddiest Glastonburys ever, underage clubbing and waiting for the train station to open in a postbox for first train home 😂

AssumptaFitzgerald1884 · 14/06/2021 19:17

I thought I was the only one who remembered that episode of 999, traumatised I was!

I remember antiques roadshow, last of the summer wine and heartbeat on a Sunday night signalling the weekend was over.

Shag bands

Those bracelets that were firm until you snapped them on your wrist and then they would curl round.

Mizz, shout, just 17, smash hits

Recording the charts hovering over the button to avoid the DH speaking

Wearing kickers for school

Chino shirts

Sweater shop jumpers and fruit of the loom t-shirts

Global hypercolour

So many memories!

FionnulaTheCooler · 14/06/2021 19:36

Shopping in Internacionale and Au Naturale.
Skirts over trousers.
Lambrini and 10 Lambert and Butler on a Friday night with your pals.

MustBeThursday · 14/06/2021 19:50

Oh my yes I remember that swimming pool rescue - I couldn't remember what programme it was but I've never forgotten watching that bit. I have never been swimming with my hair down since!

There's another programme I remember a segment of from the 90s but I can't remember what the programme itself was called - a man was on a tube train, and got off in an empty, disused station with all the doors out sealed. Can't for the life of me remember the title but it was all about unsolved mystery type things, it must have been cbbc or CITV as we didn't have cable back then.

Ah well shit.

ImprobablePuffin · 14/06/2021 20:03

Does anyone remember The Shoe People? They only ever made a few episodes so think but I absolutely loved it.

Kulio · 14/06/2021 20:34

I remember the shoe people and during the last lockdown, my 8 year old son had to watch an episode of it and wrote about the houses they lived in for English.

Daisychainsandglitter · 14/06/2021 21:33

I was 16 when the 90s came to an end. What a fantastic time to grow up!

Kulio · 14/06/2021 21:45

Remember those rubber bracelet bands you could get in packs of ten or whatever. I had black ones, neon ones and clear with gold or silver glitter ones. We called them shag bands. I was too young to shag anyone in the 90s, I was 13 when the millennium happened.

ApplyWithin · 14/06/2021 21:59

Anyone remember the yoyos from Coke, Sprite, Fanta? Everyone trying to “walk the dog” but generally just twisting the thing up.

Toddlerteaplease · 14/06/2021 22:55

I remember that episode with the hair I. The pool filter. I still think of it, if o get close to one.

Toddlerteaplease · 14/06/2021 22:57

I remember the absolute hatred that Take that fans and E17 fans had for each other. Or was that just my school?!
