I got bitten tonight, and it's got streaks on my arm now: it's a bit sore but not too bad. Weird! Do I need a drs appointment in the morning

As you know infliximab can cause you to react more to infections etc than the ‘normal person’. When is your next infusion? I hope you get all clear to attend it 🌻

ThumbWitchesAbroad · 08/06/2021 00:42

Goodness, glad you went in! It's weird being in hospital where you work/worked, isn't it? I had that in the UK when I had DS1 (although I worked in the labs, not on the wards - they got my bloods though, and came up to visit and see baby

Mojitomumma · 08/06/2021 00:42

Hope you feel better soon

Wow you've been through the wringer! It's a good job you posted on here, I too am the sort who would 'have just got on with it.'
Thank you for posting, it sounds like you've helped a lot of people be aware of the dangers of 'tracking.'
Hope you manage to get some sleep on the ward and that you get better soon.

Smolgoose · 08/06/2021 01:07

Get well soon OP! I hope they can knock back the infection quite quickly with antibiotics, it sounds so horribly painful!

I had no idea anything in the UK could cause such a severe reaction!

Hope you're feeling much better soon! I had a similar experience after an afternoon in the garden and had to re do risk assessments for everything I'd thought was "safe"! Very scary and bewildering.

LemonSwan · 08/06/2021 01:35

Oh jesus lord oh mary. I am a gardener. Why did I click on this Shock

Get well soon OP Flowers

I would just put some regular ointment on it, after bathing it in warm water. I have had several bites from insects doing garden work, but never go to a GP or anywhere.

Good job OP didn’t just do this! She’s in hospital and being treated for suspected sepsis.

GladysNarracott · 08/06/2021 08:22

Thank you for posting this OP. I'd never even heard of tracking. I shall be very vigilant when gardening in future.

Oh wow OP! Didn’t think things could escalate so quickly! If it was me I wouldn’t have bothered with A&E but you’re definitely proving me wrong!

Did the initial bite hurt?

I’d be interested to see what your arm looks like now (I’m a nurse and tbh very surprised at what a small bite can so quickly do! Wondering what on earth bit you!)

Keep us posted!

SirVixofVixHall · 08/06/2021 09:01

OP are you in a Blandford fly area ?
I am sending get well soon wishes , it sounds horrendous. Thank goodness you went in when you saw the streaks.
