I got bitten tonight, and it's got streaks on my arm now: it's a bit sore but not too bad. Weird! Do I need a drs appointment in the morning

Yikes, good luck OP. I hope you get treatment very soon.

ofwarren · 06/06/2021 23:25

I hope 111 get you sorted Flowers

It's the season for Blandford Flies. Was it small and black? Where are you?

Looks sore

It looks a bit like lymphangitis - a friend of mine had that, it cleared up fine after a course of antibiotics, taken at home (they weren't admitted to A&E but took their arm along for a visit).

I'm not a doctor but my (non-medical) opinion is to go to A&E for assessment and antibiotics or other treatment / monitoring (ie drawing a marker round it to watch for rate of spread).

Definitely needs looking at so glad to hear you've contacted NHS. I'd assume that the quicker you can start the antibiotics (if that's what's needed) the quicker it can recede. Hope it's all starting to look less red in a couple of days.

Germolenequeen · 07/06/2021 00:16

Any update OP?

sherlockhomeless · 07/06/2021 00:24

I'm in A&E. it feels a bit overkill but they want to start antibiotics. Ooh didn't want to know because it's 'tracking' and sent me immediately next door. I work in this hospital and will have to tell my boss I'm here in the morning Blush. They think it's a nasty reaction to a bite but not sure what's caused the reaction / infection

Follow happythoughts advice and phone dr. Im not a doctor but you may need antibiotics. Keep photo to show the doctor.

WeAreTheHeroes · 07/06/2021 12:37

She went to A&E last night @Gothichouse40.

sherlockhomeless · 07/06/2021 12:43

Still here, really glad I came tbh, they think it's a spider bite. About an hour after I got to A&E my entire arm swelled up and now has loads of blisters on it.

Magstermay · 07/06/2021 12:47

Goodness that sounds unpleasant! Glad you’re getting sorted out.

AppleDumplin · 07/06/2021 12:48

Thank goodness you went to hospital. Hope the antibiotics kick in soon.

Shehasadiamondinthesky · 07/06/2021 12:51

Looks like you might need antibiotics for that as it's streaking. Could be a spider bite, they often get infected.

HollowTalk · 07/06/2021 12:53

That sounds terrifying! I hope the antibiotics work.

EduCated · 07/06/2021 12:56

Thank goodness you went and are in the right place! Hope it isn’t too uncomfortable.

SinkGirl · 07/06/2021 13:04

Oh bless you OP. I ended up with cellulitis in my knee after my c section - apparently was the insane swelling that caused it. Bloody good job you went when you did, hope you’re okay!

Biglumpycustard · 07/06/2021 13:14

I would see a doctor, my partner had the same. The doctor thinks he got bitten by something and it was infected and the infection was travelling up him arm, he had to have antibiotics.

mags1862 · 07/06/2021 13:14

yes mark the outline to see any changes , antihistamine and if not improving seek further help in my view .

KurtWilde · 07/06/2021 13:15

OP has updated that she went to A&E and it's being treated.

MintyMabel · 07/06/2021 13:17

Definitely not overkill. Absolutely necessary. Hope it gets better soon.

theemmadilemma · 07/06/2021 13:48

Not overkill if was tracking.
