I got bitten tonight, and it's got streaks on my arm now: it's a bit sore but not too bad. Weird! Do I need a drs appointment in the morning

FionnulaTheCooler · 06/06/2021 22:07

I'd seek medical advice on that, DH had similar once and it needed antibiotics.

Suzi888 · 06/06/2021 22:07

Whereabouts are you? Bitten by what? Sea/woods? Looks nasty!

Sideorderofchips · 06/06/2021 22:08

That needs looking at I think. The streaking doesn't look good. Do you know what you were bitten by?

I'd give 111 a call and ask advice on that. Looks nasty.

LawnFever · 06/06/2021 22:10

Looks sore! If you have a 24hr chemist near you I’d go and see if you can get some antihistamine, looks like an allergic reaction

sherlockhomeless · 06/06/2021 22:10

It was a midge type thing in the garden :(

A&E/Urgent Care tonight. I was bitten by a dog in April and it got infected like that and I ended up having surgery. Luckily they admitted me for IV antibiotics after the oral ones didn't work as there was risk of sepsis. You need antibiotics ASAP.

If you want to read my thread and see the pictures then here you go:

Happylittlethoughts · 06/06/2021 22:11

Streaking is a sign of infection and you may need an antibiotic. Please mark the end point of the streak on your arm with a pen and note the time. Drs may need this into. Dont wait. Call now

Penny31 · 06/06/2021 22:12

The streaks would bother me and I’d go and get checked ASAP. Could need antibiotics op

WeAreTheHeroes · 06/06/2021 22:12

Draw around the red tracking with a Sharpie - ring 111 for advice.

SpamIAm · 06/06/2021 22:12

Looks like tracking, I'd be seeking medical advice now rather than waiting until the morning.

eejitgothurt · 06/06/2021 22:14

Sorry, here:

Dog bite- I'm an idiot warning - images of wounds http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/amiibeingunreasonable/4223454-Dog-bite-Im-an-idiot-warning-images-of-wounds

I was fobbed off by the GP after I'd already been to A&E and been patched up and given oral antibiotics but it started tracking and swelled like a balloon. A&E took it very seriously and I was in hospital 3 nights and had surgery to wash out the wound and stitch it up properly. It was quite something yet I thought I was making a fuss. The surgeon was great. And handsome Grin

TheGonnagle · 06/06/2021 22:16

You need antibiotics. I took flucloxacine for mine when I got an infection that tracked like that. Call 111 and make sure you mark the edges of the tracking with a biro so you can see how quickly it moves. And yes, you need them tonight I’m afraid, sepsis can be a speedy bugger.

How2Help · 06/06/2021 22:16

Yes, seek out of hours advice now.

Even if you call GP first thing they may not slot you in until later in the day, and that should not wait >12 hours with those lines.

I’d call 111 or equivalent and get their guidance.

sherlockhomeless · 06/06/2021 22:19

Calling 111 now thank you

OP posts:
KatyaZamolodchikova · 06/06/2021 22:21

I had a bite that was tracking. I called 111 and ended up at the out of hours doctors at the coast on a bank holiday weekend. I felt like I was making a fuss but DH made me go. It was a good job I did, I was proscribed strong antibiotics and told by the doctor If I’d left it till I got home and gone to see my own GP the next day was very very likely I’d have ended up in hospital with sepsis. Which seemed quite dramatic but was definitely a wake up call.

Please seek medical advice ASAP OP.

TokyoSushi · 06/06/2021 22:24

Well done for calling OP, agree it needs looking at!

Icanflyhigh · 06/06/2021 22:26

Definitely get that checked. Last one I had similar was a horse fly type thing but it made a mess of my upper arm, elbow and shoulder.

BirthdayCakeBelly · 06/06/2021 22:48

@SpamIAm

Looks like tracking, I'd be seeking medical advice now rather than waiting until the morning.
I came on to say about tracking too, sone antibiotics should help.
Desperatelytrying123 · 06/06/2021 22:50

Definitely get it checked. Some UK bites need antibiotics x

Nannyamc · 06/06/2021 22:55

Biro mark to see if it spreading
Antihistamines first. Call 1911 allergic reaction to something.

SheldonesqueTheBstard · 06/06/2021 22:59

Bloody hell Shock

Hope you get sorted out OP.

NameChange456789 · 06/06/2021 23:05

I was bitten by Midge on my ankle recently and I had a similar reaction. Really odd

NameChange456789 · 06/06/2021 23:13

This is what mine looked like

What the fuck is this ?!
HelpMeh · 06/06/2021 23:16

Streaks can indicate cellulitis so I'd want looking at tonight. Good luck Flowers
