I got bitten tonight, and it's got streaks on my arm now: it's a bit sore but not too bad. Weird! Do I need a drs appointment in the morning

Glad you got prompt medical attention. I'm so bad at thinking things aren't serious or that you don't want to bother people. Its good to read these and see that things are serious.

missmopple · 07/06/2021 14:04

@Biglumpycustard
@mags1862

Maybe read the OPs updates.

She did seek help and she has been seen in A&E..

DoubleTweenQueen · 07/06/2021 14:08

@sherlockhomeless Thank goodness you are being seen in good time. Wishing you a speedy recovery Flowers

Looks like a noble false widow bite. Nasty bastards.

viques · 07/06/2021 14:27

Wow that sounds nasty OP. A few weeks ago something bit me on my eyebrow and apart from my eyelid swelling up so I had no eyelid crease I had glands by my ear and jaw joining in the party. These things can go from nothing to something in a few hours, your body reacting is a sign it is fighting something, luckily it sounds as though you got to the hospital in time so I hope they can get all your old and new symptoms sorted now. Take care.

SirVixofVixHall · 07/06/2021 14:31

I also wonder about Blandford fly, as spider bites have two puncture holes. Blandford flies are small but the bites are terrible.

AwkwardSquad · 07/06/2021 14:31

Urgh! Poor you, OP, hope you’re feeling better and swelling etc recedes soon

SirVixofVixHall · 07/06/2021 14:32

Are there two little puncture marks OP, or one ?

LostInTime · 07/06/2021 14:33

That looks very sore OP! So glad you went in when you did, and hope your recovery is swift Thanks

SirVixofVixHall · 07/06/2021 14:33

False widows are large spiders, so I think you would have noticed one biting you - the bite feels like a bee sting.

WhatMattersMost · 07/06/2021 14:39

If it's a spider bite, it will probably be a yellow sac spider rather than a false widow. The sac spider has a necrotising venom; they are smaller, move faster, and are much more aggressive. Thankfully, they are also relatively rare.

Glad you're getting help, OP - when it starts to track, antibiotics are a must.

custardbear · 07/06/2021 14:44

I was about to say it's tracking so get help, but clearly you have - hope it's getting better

Ostara212 · 07/06/2021 14:44

@sherlockhomeless

I'm in A&E. it feels a bit overkill but they want to start antibiotics. Ooh didn't want to know because it's 'tracking' and sent me immediately next door. I work in this hospital and will have to tell my boss I'm here in the morning Blush. They think it's a nasty reaction to a bite but not sure what's caused the reaction / infection
Tracking as in wandering through your system?

Hope you recover asap Flowers

LaChatte · 07/06/2021 14:49

Glad you're getting it sorted OP. I love in France and we have more nasty bitey things here. I've been bitten by a spider and it sounds very similar to what you're going through, it does get better though! (I was also stung by a scorpion, that was horrific).

LaChatte · 07/06/2021 14:50

I live in France even.

WhatMattersMost · 07/06/2021 14:51

When it starts radiating red lines, @Ostara212

Lotusmonster · 07/06/2021 14:52

It might be a tick bite OP. Ticks carry Lymes disease...this is serious. You need antibiotics pronto.

Xiaoxiong · 07/06/2021 14:52

So glad you're getting help OP!! get well soon.

And because I'm super nosy and I've always wondered - is it nice being treated in the hospital where you work? Do you get to see all your friends and does it feel comfortable? Or just weird?

ofwarren · 07/06/2021 14:53

@sherlockhomeless

Still here, really glad I came tbh, they think it's a spider bite. About an hour after I got to A&E my entire arm swelled up and now has loads of blisters on it.
Wow! I'm so glad you went too! What is the treatment? Antibiotics?
Ostara212 · 07/06/2021 15:01

Thanks So that means head for A&E does it? Good to know.

Tick bite
SamusIsAGirl · 07/06/2021 15:02

Glad you went to the hospital - looks like it was in the nick of time. I've had cellulitis from insect bites and a tracking boil in my armpit - these things can turn very quickly.

CryptoFascist · 07/06/2021 15:04

Relieved to read you went to A&E, Op! How's it looking now?

refusetobeasheep · 07/06/2021 15:04

MY dd had this a few weeks ago. agree get a sharpie to mark round it so you can assess if grows etc. we were told to alternate hydrocortisone with anthisan throughout the day - about 4 of each when it was at its worst (which was much worse than your photo). Good luck!

WhatMattersMost · 07/06/2021 15:07

@Ostara212 - Yes. It's the initial stage of cellulitis.
