It’s all going down on our street today!

#1 is having a sofa delivered.

#2 have a JCB knocking down a side conservatory.

#5 are moving out, so there are big trucks everywhere.

#10 are having a skip delivered.

And an Argos lorry has just poled up for recently moved in #13.

#6 normally has a supermarket delivery on a Friday about 11am, so that could add to the chaos.

Luckily it is a friendly street, so much standing and pointing to work out the logistics of where everyone can move their vehicles to (ours is safe on the drive).

Normally it’s just the Tesco delivery for next door and a fat ginger cat that tries to climb the telephone pole on a Friday Grin

#3 locking himself out yesterday and needing a man in a big van to remove his front door was obviously ahead of the game! (The handle had snapped off, back was ‘sash locked’ what ever that means and all the windows closed).

What’s happening on your street?

I think I will feel extremely weird if people on my street knew what everyone else was up to.
I have no clue what's happening on my street. I like it that way.

theworldsbiggestcrocodile · 28/05/2021 10:21

Some lambs are jinking about in the forks opposite and Barbara from next door just delivered the parish magazine. It's all go here

citycitycity · 28/05/2021 10:22

I love watching what’s happening on my cup de sac - #3 door drama sound very exciting!

spiderlight · 28/05/2021 10:23

A scrap iron van has just gone past, but that's the sum total of our excitement so far.

FelicityPike · 28/05/2021 10:23

The pub across the road got its weekly beer delivery.
School at the end of the street, nursery is having their sports day.
That’s it.

Mumdiva99 · 28/05/2021 10:24

I work in the back so no idea what's happening out front. But im the back....two cats just chased across the garden. I thought one was mine but it wasn't. Neighbour next door had a new fence yesterday and now has the power washer out. The two resident magpies are just starting to shout about something. It's quieter than yesterday when other neighbour had a gardener in and they chatted loudly all morning and neighbour over the back was looking after toddler grandchild in the garden. I just hung out the first wash of the day.

Marmite27 · 28/05/2021 10:25

It’s all actually happening on the street in public view though, it’s not like I’m sat with my nose against their windows.

I only know about the broken door as the neighbour asked for our help.

The tide is in on the river and there are a couple of swans, the tube is being noisier than usual and most of the builders from the site opposite seem to have given themselves an extra long weekend as I can only see two and usually I can see 20 or so.

megletthesecond · 28/05/2021 10:27

I love watching my street while I'm working. I'm always pondering what's going on.

HUCKMUCK · 28/05/2021 10:28

I can't see the street from where I wfh but I just went down to get a coffee and there is a renatl van outside next door but one which recently sold. Hoping to get a gander of new neighbours - the last ones were awful and the house has been empty for about 3 months so it's the highlight of my week!!

Other than that I generally see nothing!

ApolloandDaphne · 28/05/2021 10:30

A workman asked where a particular house was when I was posting a letter. The dog is barking randomly at nothing. The postman still has to come. I suspect nothing else will happen for the rest of the day. It is quiet around here.

UtterlyUnimaginativeUsername · 28/05/2021 10:30

There are roadworks outside our house. We're very rural and I'm finding it oddly unsettling to be able to hear people. I don't like it.

Mrsjayy · 28/05/2021 10:30

workmen Are going in and .out of flats. The speed dog walkers have just gone down the street they walk a million miles an hour,. I can hear the bin lorry so yeah it's all go !

Mydogisagentleman · 28/05/2021 10:30

Absolutely chuff all.
The house next door but 3 has just had a sold sign put up. 3 days after the for sale sign was put up.
My neighbours gave me a thumbs up when I put a poster in my window asking for a new hospital for our town.
The dog is asleep and DH is working

HoneyDragon · 28/05/2021 10:32

Neighbours next door but one have their wedding reception (abiding restrictions) in their garden tonight as their venture let them down at the last minute. They’ve posted a note through the door with some ear plugs and a promise to wind it down at a reasonable hour.

The rest of us have been quietly speculating what time the moaning git down the road will call the police on them for a suspected illegal gathering as he’s done it to a number of us over the lockdowns, each time incorrectly. My immediate neighbour and I caused the most drama as we had a riot van turn up as she was reported to be having a bbq with all her family around, and next door involved. I was out the front gardening and she was in her back garden looking after her two grandchildren alongside her three youngest dc and cooking hot dogs on the outdoor grill. The reason she had her grandchildren was because her daughter was in hospital giving birth and they were an approved bubble for that very reason. The police were somewhat put out to have had their time wasted, and couldn’t even have a sausage because of Covid restrictions.

BIoodyStupidJohnson · 28/05/2021 10:35

I've just tutted very Britishly at the retreating end of a man in a Tesla 3 who ragged it down our long cobbled street at what must be about 50mph (it's a 20 zone).

Kerberos · 28/05/2021 10:36

Very quiet. Even the neighbours who are doing the world's LONGEST renovation project have no builders in.

FishyFriday · 28/05/2021 10:36

Bloody hell, you know a lot about the comings and goings on your street. I have no idea what's happening on mine, or when my neighbours get food deliveries.

I may be particularly unobservant of my neighbours though. My next door neighbour was complaining to me that the people two doors down (so his next door neighbour) had just had a huge extension built. I hadn't noticed a thing. 😂

Dollywilde · 28/05/2021 10:37

I’m jealous! We live on a footpath in the middle of a town and we don’t have a front garden, you enter by a gate at the end of the back garden so I can’t see the path. Very private and I love not having cars around but I can’t do any sneaking on what the neighbours are up to unless I decide to watch the Ring doorbell but that might be a bridge too far Grin

HeartShapedBalloon · 28/05/2021 10:41

It's (blue) bin day here on my street. That's about as exciting as it'll get today.

Tangledtresses · 28/05/2021 10:42

Ha love this thread 😀

The only thing going on out the back of my house is me muttering about someone putting dog poo either in the recycling or the garden waste bin!!!?? No idea why there are 2 huge rubbish bins next to it....
and yes all the builders have disappeared too thought it was quiet

Mrsjayy · 28/05/2021 10:43

Blue &Grey here so 2 separate lorries!
