It’s all going down on our street today!

#1 is having a sofa delivered.

#2 have a JCB knocking down a side conservatory.

#5 are moving out, so there are big trucks everywhere.

#10 are having a skip delivered.

And an Argos lorry has just poled up for recently moved in #13.

#6 normally has a supermarket delivery on a Friday about 11am, so that could add to the chaos.

Luckily it is a friendly street, so much standing and pointing to work out the logistics of where everyone can move their vehicles to (ours is safe on the drive).

Normally it’s just the Tesco delivery for next door and a fat ginger cat that tries to climb the telephone pole on a Friday Grin

Love me a bit of neighbour gossip.

Our street whats app group is buzzing - naughty little scamps have been doing knock and run and some hilarious doorbell footage is being shared to identify them. We think they're from the next street.

We've also had the RSPCA out this morning as sadly one of our resident baby foxes has been injured. He's not gonna make it poor little thing.

There's a basement conversion just starting down the road and the husband who lives there told DP on the nursery run that he doesn't actually want it but his wife has insisted.

That's about all I can think of!

Purplecatshopaholic · 28/05/2021 10:48

I’m in a cul-de-sac and we have a what’s app group so we generally know what’s going on and help each other out. Both NDNs are getting deliveries today that I am taking them in as they are busy. We are all on good terms with Hermes etc, lol. Another neighbour is getting their garden done so a skip is arriving. There will be deliveries too today from Sainsbury’s (mine) and Iceland (another neighbour). It’s quiet today as it’s a bank holiday. Lots of dog walking going on too - most of us have at least one mutt

WhatsappRicky · 28/05/2021 10:49

My street is really quiet which I always find so strange as I opposite very busy shops and apart from people nipping into them (and the drug dealing 🙈) it’s quiet. Although I did have new neighbours a few weeks ago who have taken to playing thumping music at all hours with lots of screeching but they must be away as both there cars are gone and it’s lovely and quiet.

Cocolapew · 28/05/2021 10:49

Blimey it's all go in your street, I'm jealous.
Next door to the left is getting new carpet laid.
A car which looks suspiciously like an un marked police car is parked at the end of the cul de sac and the occupants are next door to the right.
The last time the police was looking for him was because he had committed bigamy. He's a shitbag, I can't believe he got 1 woman to marry him never mind 2 Hmm
That's it so far.

Northend77 · 28/05/2021 10:51

The neighbour over the road is fitting his own windows on the top floor and my stomach churns everytime i go to the kitchen and see him up there with heavy panes of glass!! Otherwise, it's the usual dog walkers, cats sizing each other up and a couple of people mowing their lawns (I wonder what I'd need to pay them to do mine!)

krustykittens · 28/05/2021 10:54

My neighbours are our ponies and they are currently dozing in the sun, the lazy bastards!

Marmite27 · 28/05/2021 10:57

My office is upstairs at the front. I’ve had lots of waves from people today. They all know I’m here, as I’m here every work day. It’s normally very quiet, it feels like a carnival Grin

I decided to work from home today but there's not a single thing happening on my street. Everyone's away at work so it's practically silent during the day.

EveryFlightBeginsWithAFall · 28/05/2021 11:04

I'm waiting for the bin men

BigMamaFratelli · 28/05/2021 11:11

It's quiet today, although there have been scaffolders and builders down the road the rest of the week.

Someone in the houses at the back has put one of those musical birthday cards in the recycling (at a guess) and a tinny version of happy birthday has been playing non stop for the last couple of days Grin

SquashMinusIsShit · 28/05/2021 11:11

I'm working at the back of the house too so can't see much but next door are having something done in their garden but not noisy. next door but one are gardening, they always bring us tomatoes, cucumbers & rhubarb so I'm hoping to get a delivery later.

Our cul de sac is only about 17/18 houses so it's mostly quiet anyway

SafferUpNorth · 28/05/2021 11:13

What's goin' down on my street?

This morning I had to run after the bin truck in my PJs with bare feet, dragging a super-heavy garden waste bin that nearly toppled over... that must've made the curtain twitchers giggle!

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 28/05/2021 11:14

I'm a little envious. I can't see anything from my house as it's awkwardly placed at the end of a cul de sac. On the other hand I have a lot of privacy so that's good.

The most interest is the new house being built but that's mostly annoyance as they appear not to give a fuck about other residents and allow the site gate to swing open across the road and then pretend they don't see the cars needing to get by.

Earlier this week our neighbour who is on a different road took down two absolutely enormous trees on his side of our boundary, it's taking me a while to get used to seeing so much sky now. (Picture attached)

It’s all going down on our street today!
SoLongSister · 28/05/2021 11:15

Over the road is building a house by the looks of things. Loads over lorries and loaders this morning. For some reason one neighbour is having their driveway and half their front garden dug out by a gas company - who knows what that's all about.

Also just noticed that evil lady who's two yappy dogs killed a cat last summer is back to walking down our road.

A lot is going on for a tiny road.

stopringingme · 28/05/2021 11:16

I have put out 2 loads of washing.

The Avon lady has put a catalogue through our door and the doors of our neighbours

The postman has just delivered my DD's new sports bag. But will be coming past again soon as he delivers parcels first and then goes round with letters for the other residents of the street.

The loud dog around the corner is still barking.

My Neighbour has just gone out in her car

I am waiting for an Amazon delivery .

Other than that we live in a very quiet area and are at the bottom of the road so do not know what is going on further up and my Neighbours are very quiet.

JulietBravo999 · 28/05/2021 11:18

On my street number 8 are taking their Christmas decorations down from all the windows this morning. They are the slightly weird family of the street.

Number 3 are finally starting to move out, inch by inch, and there may well be a street party when they’ve gone because their three cars cause parking trauma Grin

NatWestPigFamily · 28/05/2021 11:18

All very quiet on my road today apart from seeing a priest park a bright red car outside my house then walk up the road stopping to talk to some builders.

MissGendered · 28/05/2021 11:19

Next door STILL haven't removed the graffiti sprayed on to the front of their flat. Snitch, scum, grass and a very crude drawing of a snake. Opposite neighbour is supervising the autoglass man replacing his windscreen after it was put through again. Neighborhood kids are whizzing up and down the street on bikes, scooters, atvs and those weird hover board things. The smell of skunk fills the air.

Fucking hate living on a council estate Sad very jealous of people living close to sheep, ponies, etc.

Zzelda · 28/05/2021 11:20

I hope for your sake your road isn't a cul-de-sac, OP.

In our road, the news is that someone bashed into no. 11's car last night, the What's App group is alive with potential witnesses and amateur detectives plus other people complaining about their own experience of similar incidents.

JocastaNu · 28/05/2021 11:21

My neighbours have a woodchopper outside their house. It's bloody loud and I'm trying to work.

MaudesMum · 28/05/2021 11:23

Nextdoor but one bought a new van yesterday, so that they can more easily go on family camping holidays. I'm silently cheering this as their garden is a gathering point for all neighbourbood children so there'll be more quiet time over the summer holidays. Next door is away, so I'm catsitting. Nextdoor but two are at work, and I can't really see much further down the terrace than that (unless I stand up and peer...)

PainterInPeril · 28/05/2021 11:23

@BigMamaFratelli Maybe they're trying out a new way to scare birds! Grin

@BlackAmericanoNoSugar And we have the obligatory diagram/photo! (It looks like a lovely view!)

@Marmite27 Please keep us updated. I'm now far too heavily invested in this thread. My M.E is playing up and I'm too exhausted to go and check what's happening outside. I'm living vicariously through you!!Grin

MrsAudreyAlfredRobertsOBEHmm · 28/05/2021 11:25

Bugger all but the garden is full of bastard rabbits who seem to think the grass in our garden is better than the field beside us
They are so bold, they don't even scamper away when we go out
I may give them names
Several magpies keep joining them as well as a woodpecker
It's our dog I feel sorry for, he looks baffled by them all

SedentaryCat · 28/05/2021 11:25

Unusually quiet today.

I live in a cul-de-sac where there always seems to be something happening, just not today.

Although if I go out with a bucket and sponge to clean my filthy car everyone will want a chat....

NatWestPigFamily · 28/05/2021 11:26

Getting more interesting... neighbour opposite has just got home, obviously been to the hairdresser as hair is a different colour and cut. Looks nice.

A Sainsbury’s delivery has just arrived for next door but one which makes a nice change from the usual 7am Saturday delivery.
