It’s all going down on our street today!

#1 is having a sofa delivered.

#2 have a JCB knocking down a side conservatory.

#5 are moving out, so there are big trucks everywhere.

#10 are having a skip delivered.

And an Argos lorry has just poled up for recently moved in #13.

#6 normally has a supermarket delivery on a Friday about 11am, so that could add to the chaos.

Luckily it is a friendly street, so much standing and pointing to work out the logistics of where everyone can move their vehicles to (ours is safe on the drive).

Normally it’s just the Tesco delivery for next door and a fat ginger cat that tries to climb the telephone pole on a Friday Grin

Our local fb groups has become obsessed with a local family who have been sharing their lives on live video.

-Names changed for their privacy

Jane and Dave had 3 babies and it's been lovely to see them grow. Their were quads but the 4th didn't make it sadly. Dave and Jane were top parents looking after their little.

Sadly Dave's body was found in the gutter the other day. Turns out he died of natural causes. Jane has been amazing at continuing to care for her babes herself.

Barely had Dave' s body turned cold, another man was spotted hanging around trying to get in with Jane. We just found out today the Jane has accepted this new man, phew.

We look forward to seeing Jane and the new man making new peregrine babies next year. 🤣 It's better than Netflix.

Went past my old cat earlier that now lives with the hussy who waved dreamies at him. He was lying there being harassed by magpies as they nicked his fur for their nest. The fat lump didn't even flick a claw at them.
That's as good as it gets here.

Mmmcheese89 · 28/05/2021 11:31

You'd love it round here. Stabbings, police raids, fires... And that's all on top of my Asda deliver. So busy...

BrilliantBetty · 28/05/2021 11:31

Corner shop closed. Don't know why, lot of people turning up then turning around. He's never usually closed. Some building work opposite, they are converting small victorian terrace in to 2 flats, upstairs/downstairs must be mad. Tiny enough as a 2 bed.
There is a brothel further along the street, always have half an eye on who's going in and out. It's not busy this morning but often picks up round lunchtime and after work. A child lives in the property but the SS don't care (been reported many times). This street is a rat race between two busy B roads, horrible amount of cars speeding through today and every day. Hope we get speed bumps. There's always loads going on. Never a quiet moment.

PickAChew · 28/05/2021 11:32

There's a jcb on the plot of land opposite making very big mud pies and our side of the street is full of holes and covered in barriers because we're getting leaky old gas pipes replaced. It's been noisy, this week.

MrsRussell · 28/05/2021 11:33

Next door is having a new door fitted to her shed.
Next door the other side is loading his van for work (he makes fitted kitchens)
Puppy three doors up is throwing a wibble because there's a cat on his fence.

GertietheGherkin · 28/05/2021 11:33

Funnily enough OP my neighbours are having their conservatory demolished. It's quite a big one. After that we've had the lady next door having her Ocado delivery. We've got a DPD, and a UPS large van trying to deliver parcels, with not much success.
It's usually quieter on a Friday 🤔

LyndaSnellsSniff · 28/05/2021 11:34

The police were somewhat put out to have had their time wasted, and couldn’t even have a sausage because of Covid restrictions

😄🤣

Miljea · 28/05/2021 11:35

@MissGendered

Next door STILL haven't removed the graffiti sprayed on to the front of their flat. Snitch, scum, grass and a very crude drawing of a snake. Opposite neighbour is supervising the autoglass man replacing his windscreen after it was put through again. Neighborhood kids are whizzing up and down the street on bikes, scooters, atvs and those weird hover board things. The smell of skunk fills the air.

Fucking hate living on a council estate Sad very jealous of people living close to sheep, ponies, etc.

God, that sounds so stressful.

I live on a quiet cul de sac, although alongside the access road.

Next door but one are having their fascias done; next door must be on an inset day. When the 2 DC come out to play, it's quite noisy, but they're very polite and often the 'arguments' are about maths! The dad is very hands on and plays with them quite a lot which is nice. They'll play noisily for an hour, then it stops completely.

Soon Tom will come out and walk his circuits of the estate, stopping to chat with everyone. His is a big house but filled with multigenerations.

And an Ocado delivery.

Donotgogentle · 28/05/2021 11:38

A fox has done a poo on our garden path. I wondering whether I can leave it there long enough for DH to remove it.

LyndaSnellsSniff · 28/05/2021 11:39

We have the neverending extension at #53 still ongoing. The stop/start extension at #46 is definitely in a stop phase this week. There's a hedge trimmer going somewhere. The bin men have been round already. We're having some work done in the house today so I'm hoping someone somewhere will be wondering what we're having done. 😄

MaMelon · 28/05/2021 11:40

I'm working at the back of the house today so haven't had a chance to have a nosey, but I do know we've had a supermarket delivery and #14 was off early with his racing bike on his roof bars - so that's pretty exciting.

The street WhatsApp has been quite quiet recently apart from Jill's offer of parsley plants she grew in her polytunnel. It took one and it's positively thriving!

JMAngel1 · 28/05/2021 11:41

A neighbour across the road has ostentatiously parked his Lambourgini on the street for it to be valeted - he has the most huge drive known to man, so is being a complete arse for showing it off being cleaned in the street. The valet man has an annoyingly noisy motor pressure washer.
Can you tell I don't like this particular neighbour Grin

RosesAndHellebores · 28/05/2021 11:43

One house has a sold sign; another is having some building work. Except for that I can honestly say I haven't seen a neighbour for several weeks. Usually hear clip clopping from the bridlepath that runs next to us. And mowers on Wednesdays when the gardeners come for some of us and also for the verges.

We are gated as a road and some of us have gates within the gates. It's actually quite a lonely way to live.

OldTinHat · 28/05/2021 11:43

Ooooh! My post lady arrived an hour late - instead of 8am she came at 9am. Does that count??

MrsAudreyAlfredRobertsOBEHmm · 28/05/2021 11:44

Bloody hell @JMAngel1 where do you live Epsom?

OldTinHat · 28/05/2021 11:45

Damnit! This has reminded me that the bin people haven't emptied my bin (normally at 6am)!!!

LadyDanburysHat · 28/05/2021 11:46

Blue bins have been emptied, over the road are having their house painted. It's dark grey, doesn't look good. Not much else happening.

Sweettea1 · 28/05/2021 11:48

Sounds like my area haha.
Sweettea1 · 28/05/2021 11:50

Bin men emptying brown bin as I write this.

junipertree2 · 28/05/2021 11:50

I really hope you're not trying to WFH today OP...

My street is unusually quiet, typically at this time of year there would be a power tool Olympiad going on, three Flymos whining at once, someone cutting through concrete with a saw, etc.

Molehillfromamountain · 28/05/2021 11:51

Our new neighbours removal lorry sank into mud this morning and had to be rescued by a big tow truck. Much excitement before the school run!

OneinNine · 28/05/2021 11:51

We have just had forty motorbikes ride past our house very noisily. I do not know where they are going.

UhtredRagnarson · 28/05/2021 11:51

Blimey I hired a removal company with a van to move house a couple years ago, it was parked on the road outside my house, on my side, where a car would park, not blocking the road at all and one of my neighbours went ballistic at them! Your road sounds lovely Op!

Yorkshiremummyof1 · 28/05/2021 11:52

My favourite thing on my street is the retired couple over the road with three happy dogs. They have a big campervan and I swear he tinkers with it every day. Even during full lockdown. It makes me happy to see them drive off for the weekend, they must have missed it.
