It’s all going down on our street today!

#1 is having a sofa delivered.

#2 have a JCB knocking down a side conservatory.

#5 are moving out, so there are big trucks everywhere.

#10 are having a skip delivered.

And an Argos lorry has just poled up for recently moved in #13.

#6 normally has a supermarket delivery on a Friday about 11am, so that could add to the chaos.

Luckily it is a friendly street, so much standing and pointing to work out the logistics of where everyone can move their vehicles to (ours is safe on the drive).

Normally it’s just the Tesco delivery for next door and a fat ginger cat that tries to climb the telephone pole on a Friday Grin

I dunno. I live in a tower block. Hopefully I will have some more QVC/Amazon packages delivered though!

krustykittens · 28/05/2021 12:18

@Serpenta

Yesterday I heard one neighbour tell another neighbour that their cat was looking 'portly' whereas their cat was in the 'peak of health'. I believe that's the modern equivalent of throwing down the gauntlet. Hopefully there'll be a fat cat shaming duel.
Now THIS is exciting!

It's the usual chaos on our little narrow cul de sac single track lane. Our neighbours have a pool and give swimming lessons in it so we have the chaos every half an hour or so of people trying to get down the lane as new ones coming up it. Today I have blocked off our drive with my car as they usually use it as a passing place. Particular highlight this morning was a car having to reverse all the way up (it's quite bumpy and long) and about four cars going forward.

Friday is also bin day and we have had the guy from the allotment opposite walking up inspecting his fences and bushes. Post man hasn't been yet and next door is off to her daughters for the weekend so they will be here soon blocking the lane while she gets in their car.

I work in the front window so see everything!

Phillipa12 · 28/05/2021 12:23

My neighbours honey bees decided to move house yesterday and not tell the neighbour. A swarm of honey bees is actually quite loud. Oh and its green waste collection day today.

alloalloallo · 28/05/2021 12:24

I’m at home waiting for a delivery and as our Hermes driver only gives you approximately 2 seconds to answer the door, I’m in the living room nosying every time I hear a car.

I live in a tiny cul de sac and everyone is at work so sod all is happening.

My cat is having some sort of hissing stand off in the middle of our road with our next door but one neighbours cat.

There are some sheep in the field opposite who aren’t doing anything particularly exciting

The yappy dog who lives behind me is barking - as per bloody usual.

Last week, the very posh couple who live in the corner house was raided by the police for fraud. The single most exciting thing that has ever happened here. We’re still talking about it. The couple are extremely unpleasant, rude and generally behave like they are better than all of us so everyone is milking it for all it’s worth

EndoplasmicReticulum · 28/05/2021 12:27

We've got the cable people back again. They have been popping up all over the place digging random holes, closing streets, making a mess and generally being a nuisance. For months.

YewandOak · 28/05/2021 12:28

@DianeCherry

Well the birds are making a right racket. Um, that's about really.
Same here.
BigMoveHome · 28/05/2021 12:28

Postman was spotted parking in rather flirty neighbor’s drive and went inside for 45 minutes! Her policeman husband is at work.
Seems she likes a uniform.

Postman is fairly new…. But we had the same situation with her and a former postie 5 years ago when she was still on husband no 2!

First sunny day In ages so lots of lawnmowers going and another neighbor’s cockerel is in fine voice.

dontcallmelen · 28/05/2021 12:29

Bin lorry came early this morning, the streets WA is very busy as someone had a hello fresh box nicked from the doorstep, but it’s been captured on a neighbours door camera so not sure what the next course of action is, another neighbour selling a sunburst mirror.
The worlds longest building works two doors down appears to be relatively quiet today, over the roads cat appeared in my garden yet again & sits on the patio just staring at me willing me to go out & face him, I’m terrified of cats so am a hostage in my kitchen.
Waiting on a JL & H&M delivery.

SpringLoadedJizz · 28/05/2021 12:31

It's really quiet here today. There aren't even the usual cars parked along the road.

No.17 have taken their bins in earlier than usual though, bin day was Tuesday but they've had them sitting outside for a full week before.

We used to live on a very busy road and I'm still struggling with how quiet it is here at times.

QueenPaw · 28/05/2021 12:32

Hermes delivery driver arrived to find 6 of us outside having a chat and happily handed out parcels, and said "can you do this every day? Much easier!"
I've had an estate agent round so that's probably the gossip for today Grin

QueenPaw · 28/05/2021 12:34

We did have a giant police incident where they arrested the ring leader of a bunch of annoying kids. Ring leader wasn't even there but turned up on his moped to block the police. Police got fed up, edged towards him in their car and knocked the moped over and arrested it which got a round of applause from everyone watching
It's been silent since then

ThePlantsitter · 28/05/2021 12:34

A white van is parked in the middle of the road. Next door but one is having scaffolding put up with much clanking of bars and rattling of metal joints. Next door but one the other side has a skip in the road on front of their house and it's filled with earth. Next doors have a newborn and opposite have newborn twins and they are all rather grumpy by the sound of it. It's a warm day and the windows are open. Somebody up the street is having Deliveroo for lunch Shock

Love this thread.

1forAll74 · 28/05/2021 12:43

I live off road, and have only seen one of my cats run up a tree in the garden, and a neighbour pegging out a duvet cover on her washing line. Its very quiet here.

Nannewnannew · 28/05/2021 12:47

Cars and camper vans heading down to the beach en masse!
Post van just gone back up the road.
Family walking 2 dogs walked past-again to the beach.
Magpie digging bugs out of front lawn.
White fluffy stuff from trees blowing past the windows hoping to come indoors the minute the door is open! 😤

Get a sense of humour! This thread has made my day!

Oh, and pleased to report that the neighbour has just started hoovering his car.

Happy Friday folks! The next exciting thing to happen at my end of the street is bound to be the merry tinkling of ice in a glass of G&T at 5.30pm sharp.

user1471538283 · 28/05/2021 13:00

It is quiet here but the builders 4 doors down have their shit radio on yet again! In between I can hear the birds. I love quiet!

Foxyloxy1plus1 · 28/05/2021 13:01

A big John Lewis van parked on a bend, rendering extreme caution from traffic in either direction.
Mr Next Door is trimming the hedges in his front garden.
The postie hasn’t been yet, or if he has, we haven’t got anything.
Other than that, there’s nothing.

There was one resident on the FB page asking how old people round here are, because she thought it was a bit much that there were complaints about children playing in the road and shouting, so she assumed most people would be old. Confused

LarkDescending · 28/05/2021 13:04

Street parking has been suspended for a week for telecoms works. Nobody has turned up to do any such works.

Meanwhile, a squirrel is trying to break into the squirrel-proof bird feeder. The goldfinches are noisily objecting. The baby robins are fledging. An estate agent is posting “can we sell your property?” cards through every letterbox. Exciting times here.

IsThePopeCatholic · 28/05/2021 13:07

Next door have positioned their garden chairs in a circle formation - must be having a get together soon. Probably family as we rarely see friends there.
Postie delivered a package for DH’s birthday - looks like a book.
Next door but 3 have gone off in their Chelsea tractor - maybe a long weekend away?
So much conjecturing is wearing me out.

I used to have a life before Covid Now this IS my life (and it’s quite good fun)
FlorrieLindley · 28/05/2021 13:18

A pheasant and his mate are pottering about in the front garden. Across the path on the beach a heron is sitting on a rock looking for dinner opportunities.
In the distance I can see the postman's wee red van breasting the hill.
Apart from the tweeting of some oystercatchers, silence.

Shareddriveagghh · 28/05/2021 13:23

Bin men have been, over friendly man who accidentally saw me in my underwear three years ago has just shut his garage door. A few schoolchildren will be passing by in an hour when schools out.

DishingOutDone · 28/05/2021 13:27

Living as I do in a cul de sac I love all this! its just what our road is like! Although I'd say the fat cat debate trumps the postman going inside for 45 minutes.
