I think my Husband is dying

Hi

DH had a planned surgery on Thursday which went wrong; he had a catastrophic bleed which lead to his chest being opened and a long time to stabilise. He's on full life support but they are very, very concerned that he has few signs of brain activity.

He's in a good hospital with an amazing team around him, we didn't expect him to last over Thursday night and they've kept him going but I am slowly realising that I think he's gone.

Fuck. What do I do without him? We have an 11 yo DD who is awesome and friends but I feel so alone. So much panic.

Sorry for unloading, just feels incredibly surreal.

Can I just say how incredible 'people on the internet' are. What a lovely bunch of messages of hope and positive vibes. Moved me to tears. OP I also wish you, your daughter and your husband the very very best x

Notaroadrunner · 26/05/2021 17:01

So sorry to hear you and your family are going through such a tough time. It's good that you have so much support from family and friends and that your dd is being looked after. I hope she had a nice day out today to help distract her a little. Mind yourself as best you can - make sure to eat and drink to keep your own strength up, even if you don't feel like it at times. Thinking of you all Flowers

How awful for you. I do know how this feels, but mine pulled through against the odds. It is so easy to feel completely overwhelmed with grief and pain, but this is a good place to come for solace and a virtual cry. Please let us know how you are.

Evening all,

Had a meeting with DH's (lovely) consultant today. He's off for a brain scan once they think he'll tolerate the move to check whether there is any activity, or how much there is. They stressed to me there's no deadline with this, they don't want to undo their work stabilising him by rushing.

DH's parents are so angry, it's hard to see them like this - what they're going through is horrific. DD is bearing up so well too, she's amazing.

Thank you again for all your kindness, there just aren't the words.

I am still keeping you all in my prayers. I remember that anger. I had it when my husband was dying. It does pass but its hard to see and even harder to help x
