I think my Husband is dying

Hi

DH had a planned surgery on Thursday which went wrong; he had a catastrophic bleed which lead to his chest being opened and a long time to stabilise. He's on full life support but they are very, very concerned that he has few signs of brain activity.

He's in a good hospital with an amazing team around him, we didn't expect him to last over Thursday night and they've kept him going but I am slowly realising that I think he's gone.

Fuck. What do I do without him? We have an 11 yo DD who is awesome and friends but I feel so alone. So much panic.

Sorry for unloading, just feels incredibly surreal.

Am so sorry you are going through this op. I pray your DH will pull through. And I pray for strength for you and your daughter.

What a horrific experience

chaosmaker · 26/05/2021 01:36

Take care of yourself and rest when you can. I know how horrible it is having had a partner that had 3 separately induced medical comas for various reasons and we were so anxious the first time he was brought out of it that he wouldn't be the same person. He was. The hardest thing is leaving the hospital as all you want to do is be there and dreading the phone ringing as you don't know what news it will be if it's from the hospital.
Sending you a massive cwtsh and I'm so glad you have a great rl support network. Just take care as it can be mentally exhausting too xx

I'm so sorry. I hope it isn't all as catastrophic as you fear. Flowers

ThumbWitchesAbroad · 26/05/2021 06:56

Hope he's continuing to improve, Dolly - glad to hear that you are able to spend time with him, and that you have a good support network, both for you and your DD. It might be a long road, but it sounds like he's taking positive steps, even if they're only baby ones - everything crossed that he continues to do so. Thanks

BiggerBoat1 · 26/05/2021 07:32

Everything crossed for you. What a terrifying situation. Use the support of those around you. Flowers

Keep positive Smile His urine output picking up is a really good sign. The nurses sound brilliant and they sound as if they are monitoring him very closely. Sending lots of positivity for you all Smile
