We had those dining chairs when I was a kid in the 70s ❤️

MFI I would guess!

What’s your point?

Aprilwasverywet · 21/05/2021 15:43

The clothes line is my favourite pic!!

starpatch · 21/05/2021 15:44

I don't think this is funny looks like a probate sale.

HotToddyColdSauvignon · 21/05/2021 15:44

@Hen2018

What’s your point?
It’s a right move thread. There are loads of them on mn. We find weird and odd ball houses and discuss Grin (usually rip to shreds people’s decorating choices!!)

On that note.... I remember those yellow kitchen cupboards!!!! My grandmother had those!!

wearetheweirdosmr · 21/05/2021 15:45

We had that lounge carpet- we still have off cuts that we use as garden rugs

Hen2018 · 21/05/2021 15:48

Oh, I see it is supposed to be funny. I’ve just spent 3 months clearing my relations’s house out after her death.

The houses of older people aren’t always full of modern things. Let’s take the piss out of a clean, tidy and quite pleasant house.

AdditionalCharacter · 21/05/2021 15:52

Houses like this make me feel quite sad that they lived with such old furniture/carpets. Makes me wonder if they chose to live like that or if they couldn't afford to upgrade.

ForeveronEtsy · 21/05/2021 15:56

Agree it’s probably and elderly person that has either died or moved to a home. Lots of houses are like this.

MathsFiend · 21/05/2021 15:56

Really nasty thread. The text says it’s available for the first time in 60 years, so likely an old person who has died / moved into a home. There’s nothing hugely wrong with it, just some dated furniture.

This looks like my grandparents' house when they died. They would not have considered the furniture/carpets out of date. They would have just been content with a clean house full of things they loved, which were 'made to last'. These threads are starting to make me feel sad because every house they mock is someone's home.
Isababybel · 21/05/2021 16:04

My grandparents had the same or very similar! Im not sure why everyone is getting their knickers in a twist, the op is just reminiscing Confused

ForgedInFire · 21/05/2021 16:06

Wow that's expensive

PerhapsCarriageGreen · 21/05/2021 16:08

I love a Rightmove thread but you are way off the mark with this. It's a perfectly nice and probably much loved house. It's well looked after on the whole so why would they need to "upgrade".

5foot418stone · 21/05/2021 16:08

I had those cupboards in my first house in 2010! They were older than me at that point. Very sturdy :)

It looks like a nice house in good nick. The yellow flowery wallpaper in the bedroom is something I would probably choose now tbh...

Bluntness100 · 21/05/2021 16:10

Wow, isn’t it amazing how something can be kept so immaculate but be so of its period. That house screams the 70s and even has the flying ducks on the wall in the video tour. Whomever lived there took such good care of it. Fifty years later and it’s still immaculate.

wearetheweirdosmr · 21/05/2021 16:11

Those carpets are much more forgiving and hard wearing that anything about today.

The kitchen tiles look familiar too, he had those in blue not yellow.

Theimpossiblegirl · 21/05/2021 16:11

I love it, pure nostalgia. There are a few houses like that in my village. They don't get new stuff because they're perfectly happy with what they have. I love visiting for a cuppa.
The probate but is sad but I'm pretty sure the op wasn't being out of order.

drspouse · 21/05/2021 16:11

It looks really well cared for.

NotExactlyHappyToHelp · 21/05/2021 16:11

I didn’t take the tone of this thread as mocking. I thought it was more a nice nostalgia kind of thing. Maybe I’m wrong 🤷🏼‍♀️

JeanClaudeVanDammit · 21/05/2021 16:14

The sofas are exactly like those in my nana’s old flat Smile It looks a lovely sunny bungalow that someone loved very much, I hope it finds a lovely new owner!

Castlepeak · 21/05/2021 16:16

I look at that house and think about how someone lovingly cared for that home for decades. It’s beautiful.

Bluntness100 · 21/05/2021 16:16

I also don’t think the tone of this is mocking.

wearetheweirdosmr · 21/05/2021 16:16

Just watched the video- we even had some of the same knickknacks - horn boat anyone.
And the flower wall paper we had to.

It's very much how the house I grew up in looked for most of my teen life.

Movinghouseatlast · 21/05/2021 16:17

Why sneer at this house? There is nothing outlandish or odd about it. It is immaculately clean and tidy, well kept and obviously someone was very proud of it.

I don't think you 'get' what the Rightmove threads are about really.

hotclothbuns · 21/05/2021 16:20

Agree op you are completely off the mark with this one. Nothing wrong with it, looks like a much loved family home which needs to be sold
