We had those dining chairs when I was a kid in the 70s ❤️

MFI I would guess!

Such a well kept house. The people / person who lived there obviously loved it.

I don't think my IKEA furniture will be around and in as good Nick in 40 years.

(OP - usually the 'another Rightmove one' title is to look at a shocker, hence the comments).

Angrymum22 · 21/05/2021 18:19

Also had the stainless steel teapot, I still have my mums teapot, it makes the best cup of tea and is just the right size for two mugs. It was DM & DDads wedding present so 60 yrs old.

AOwlAOwlAOwl · 21/05/2021 18:22

Good find OP!

The whole place reminds me so much of my Nana and Grandad's bungalow, lovely memories.

I hope the people who lived there were happy in that house, it's really well looked after. Shows how things were made to last back in the day.

Therunecaster · 21/05/2021 18:25

@NotExactlyHappyToHelp

I didn’t take the tone of this thread as mocking. I thought it was more a nice nostalgia kind of thing. Maybe I’m wrong 🤷🏼‍♀️
Me too.
DontCallMeBaby · 21/05/2021 18:27

Both my pairs of grandparents had the ’penguin’ tiles. Council house in the West Midlands vs a cottage in N Wales, very different houses and very different people, but the same bathroom tiles ❤️

Lauren1983 · 21/05/2021 18:32

We had the penguin tiles in our avocado bathroom when I was a child, in fact they were still there when my mum sold the house in 2012! I imagine the new owners must have replaced them now through.

It always annoyed me that the tiler (understandably) didn't see the penguin and that there were tiles when he was upright and then suddenly a load when he was upside down.

MrsDoctorDear · 21/05/2021 18:33

@sweetkitty

There’s a typical 80s house at our local museum type place now (which makes me feel old) but I love it. VHS recorder, HI-FI with records, Eternal-Beau crockery. I think this house should be persevered it’s part of our heritage too, reminds me of my grandparents house too. I wonder in the future will they have a 2020s grey house with glittery writing on the walls and our grandchildren will feel the same nostalgia?
Eternal Beau and VHS in a museum, I feel old 😂
OutComeTheWolves · 21/05/2021 18:35

I love the floor tiles in the kitchen. People would pay a fortune for those. I'm being genuine - not taking the piss by the way.

StillSmallVoice · 21/05/2021 18:48

There's no floor plan and they don't give room sizes. It also says the title is unregistered, which would be a problem for me, apart from the price, which seems very high (though I don't know the area).

TwigTheWonderKid · 21/05/2021 18:50

@AdditionalCharacter

Houses like this make me feel quite sad that they lived with such old furniture/carpets. Makes me wonder if they chose to live like that or if they couldn't afford to upgrade.
The obession with everyone ripping out their bathrooms/kitchens every 5 minutes and "upgrading" their homes is a very recent one. People from this generation chose their belongings with care, probably saved up for quite a while to pay for them and looked after them so they lasted. We could learn a lot from them.
Triphazard101 · 21/05/2021 18:57

We had these tiles in the bathroom as a kid (1980s), I never noticed the penguins.

My Ddad died in 2019. I think his generation were into reusing and recycling well before it was fashionable. He still had a perfect dinner set from the 1970s, and a lot of furniture (chairs, tables, wardrobes, bedside tables, coffee tables etc) from the 70s, which was still in decent condition. They updated the bathroom and kitchen and replaced the beds and carpets but otherwise if it wasnt broken, it didnt need replacing.

BananaBoatFeet · 21/05/2021 19:04

I don't think this is funny looks like a probate sale

Yes. It’s a sad house.

LostInTheLingerieSection · 21/05/2021 19:04

We had those tiles and a green suite. I spent hours studying them as a kid.

In the house from the link I love the mustard velvet upholstery, the sofas and the ottoman. Pretty similar to the new stuff I'm buying at the moment!

LeanneBrownsLonelyBraincell · 21/05/2021 19:07

There's not one thing in that kitchen I'd change.

I'm being serious

EnglishRain · 21/05/2021 19:09

I love that the whole thing seems to be from the same era. I remember reading about a house once and the owner had bought everything to match the time period it was built, Victorian I think. Just love seeing it all together.

FedNlanders · 21/05/2021 19:12

I absolutely love it
Hellocatshome · 21/05/2021 19:13

That is pretty much exactly how out house looked in the 80s.

A trip down memory Lane.. ❤️

I've read the whole thread and can't find any mocking responses. I think some posters are finding issues where there aren't any. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Bluntness100 · 21/05/2021 19:23

I’d hate if my home ended up on here being mocked whilst trying to secure a sale

Can you link to one post mocking it? If not maybe have mnhq remove your post.

Christinayangtwistedsister · 21/05/2021 19:25

I remember those units in my Grans kitchen, usually where she kept the Kremola Foam for me

Cocolapew · 21/05/2021 19:29

Nobody is mocking ffs

I would give my eye teeth for that kitchen it's amazing.

Cocolapew · 21/05/2021 19:30

I bought Cremola Foam last week, it was over £5!

Christinayangtwistedsister · 21/05/2021 19:32

I haven't saw it for years!

Kezzie200 · 21/05/2021 19:32

We had an original 1950s formica kitchen when we moved in. It was built sooooo well. We moved it to the utility room when we had a new kitchen in 1998 and it's still going strong.
