We had those dining chairs when I was a kid in the 70s ❤️

MFI I would guess!

@AfternoonToffee

The only disappointment is that the bathroom does not have the upside down penguin tiles. A fine feature of the 70's.
What are they?
ShowOfHands · 21/05/2021 16:43

My parents still have upside down penguin tiles in their downstairs loo!

AfternoonToffee · 21/05/2021 16:43

@Latelatelate

Nostalgic and definitely of the time but I also guess probate so wonder what the family would make of it being on here. Very sad.
Well other than the posters who have decided to be very negative I would hope that the fact the overwhelming opinion is that it is a house that has sparked happy memories and feelings of great comfort would be positive.
MrsDoctorDear · 21/05/2021 16:44

Pure nostalgia. Look at the ghetto blaster in the kitchen, that brings back great memories.

AnxiousAndUnraveling · 21/05/2021 16:44

I love the chairs, I’d reupholster them. I also love the kitchen floor, it’s ace.

PomegranateQueen · 21/05/2021 16:44

So much nostalgia, reminds me of my Great Grandma's house. Shame it will all be ripped out and replaced with basic grey everything and rented out to a family who cannot ever hope to afford such rediculous house prices.

ShowOfHands · 21/05/2021 16:45

Assuming this is what a pp meant by penguin tiles!

Lovely to see the old style decor kept so immaculately. I was also reminded of my grandparents.

AfternoonToffee · 21/05/2021 16:48

Like these, much discussion about if they were actually penguins and if so why were they always upside down.

I love houses like this on rightmove - like something frozen in a time warp. Certainly not sneering. I suspect our house will remain permanently stuck in 2012 (when we bought it) decor-wise as we have no intention of ever bothering to change anything.

AfternoonToffee · 21/05/2021 16:49

Yep hands them Smile

GreyhoundG1rl · 21/05/2021 16:49

It's like one of those magic eye pictures. I could never see those either Grin

Bluntness100 · 21/05/2021 16:53

I can’t see anything resembling penguins in those tiles. 😂

user1471538283 · 21/05/2021 16:53

I really like it! I really like the stuff as well! I'm in the market for a bungalow but it's out of my budget

Bufferingkisses · 21/05/2021 16:55

Aw, my grandparents had the same kitchen - all units built and fitted by grandad (theirs was white). Lasted from when they moved in as a newly married couple in their first house (new build) to when they had both passed away last year. Really well built and really well cared for Smile

I'm slightly sad to know they will have been ripped out when the house was sold and developed. Isn't it odd what does or does not evoke memory?!

Bufferingkisses · 21/05/2021 16:55

Not memory exactly... attachment? Emotion? Confused

FedNlanders · 21/05/2021 16:57

My favourite thing about care work is the peoples houses! Love all the nicknaks. Its like stepping back in time but the houses have so much more personality than this grey minimalist stuff that happens now. Its a lovely home.

Looksabitbig · 21/05/2021 16:59

We're laughing at other people's houses now, especially ones where the owner is likely to have died? Hmm

motogogo · 21/05/2021 16:59

It's obviously an estate sale/going into residential care type situation. Very dated but suit a developer or someone wanting a fixer upper

Bluntness100 · 21/05/2021 17:00

No one has laughed, what are you on about?

No I believe people are appreciating the nostalgia of the house. The only negativity on this thread has come from posters getting the wrong end of the stick. The OP clearly loves the house and the old fashion decor.
ShanghaiDiva · 21/05/2021 17:01

It reminds me of my grandparents too. They had the heater that is in the dining room. My godmother had those tiles in yellow to match the primrose yellow suite.
Great memories.

Tullyjune · 21/05/2021 17:02

I need someone to point out the penguins on the tile. I have no clue what you’re all on about?!

JustMarriedAndLovingIt · 21/05/2021 17:02

I found a great one the other day but I accidentally clicked off it (so gutted!!) They had pictures of the residents sat topless around a garden table and the bloke looked as though he was wearing a daffodil in his hair. It was a sight to behold 😂😂
