We had those dining chairs when I was a kid in the 70s ❤️

MFI I would guess!

It’s a right move thread. There are loads of them on mn. We find weird and odd ball houses and discuss grin (usually rip to shreds people’s decorating choices!!)
There's nothing weird or odd ball about that house.
How bizarre that you'd want to rip it to shreds for laughs.

ReallyBloodyAnnoying · 21/05/2021 16:25

I’m definitely not mocking / sneering.

My dad died last year and seeing those chairs took me right back to the 70s and warmed my heart. I have very few photos of my childhood and certainly none of our dining chairs.

I didn’t mean to offend anyone. Thought it would be a fun thread.

I’m glad some people are enjoying the pics and the nostalgia.

Not one person has ripped it to shreds.

humblesims · 21/05/2021 16:25

Oh, I see it is supposed to be funny. I’ve just spent 3 months clearing my relations’s house out after her death
Same here. What a nasty thread.

ReallyBloodyAnnoying · 21/05/2021 16:25

That’s why I put a ❤️

Ah my dad had those dining chairs, he’s been dead years now bless him.

HappyBirthdayMrPresident · 21/05/2021 16:26

I am not keen on these threads slagging off peoples homes , it's their safe space to be decorated they way they want , just cause it's not ultra modern doesn't mean they had no money imagine your house being slagged off to all and sundry

AfternoonToffee · 21/05/2021 16:27

Oh it's just fantastic, a real sense of comfort in those photos. It's an amazing step back in time.

My mil very similar house (style) has just gone on the market, lots of interest already. Also first time for 60 years, it was their first house and they never moved. I guess it is a bit more unusual for that length of time for a bungalow as they must have been relatively young when they first moved in.

Zzelda · 21/05/2021 16:29

.

MrsGulDukat · 21/05/2021 16:29

It's quite a nice house.

Is it me or is there no oven in the kitchen. I cant work out where it is.

GreyhoundG1rl · 21/05/2021 16:29

@Bluntness100

Not one person has ripped it to shreds.
I was responding to the poster who seemed to think that was the thread's purpose. I even quoted them 🤷🏻‍♀️
Bluntness100 · 21/05/2021 16:29

What’s going on here? No one has slagged off the house, least of all the op. No one has ripped it to shreds. What odd comments.

smallandimperfectlyformed · 21/05/2021 16:29

I thought when I clicked on the thread title it might be something weird like that house which looked like a space station a couple of months ago but reading the op it didn't come across as sneering. I clicked on the link and the pictures made me smile, I felt warm and comfortable like I was at my nans house.

AfternoonToffee · 21/05/2021 16:31

Those chairs were very much the style of the time. Ours weren't as beautifully padded as them though. When DH and I first got our house we were given a table and chairs. The chairs went to my Mum and Dad's (similar though again no padding) and we still have the table, ours is round with two drop leafs. Nothing compares to the function nowadays.

Theunamedcat · 21/05/2021 16:32

No one is slagging the house off wth is wrong with people lately

Those sofas are so much more comfortable than the "modern" one ive got

I'm loving the kitchen sunny with oodles of cupboards i want oodles of cupboards in a sunny kitchen instead I've got a council grey/black one which never looks clean

AfternoonToffee · 21/05/2021 16:32

Me too, though it made me think of my Great Aunts.

The heart emoji would suggest nice memories from the op not mocking.

ShowOfHands · 21/05/2021 16:35

I understood what you meant op. It reminded you of a certain time and I can see why. What a lovely little house, full of things which made me smile. Reminds me so much of my Grandma's house which was similarly well loved and delightfully retro.

The heart in the op is a dead giveaway. It's a positive thread!

Branleuse · 21/05/2021 16:36

Im seeing loads of houses being sold that are like this, post covid. They all make me feel a bit sad at the nanas and grandads who didnt make it through the pandemic. I bet they smell like my nanas old house.

chesirecat99 · 21/05/2021 16:38

I don't think the thread was intended to be mocking or sneering. These threads usually a trip down memory lane about childhood homes.

HerRoyalNotness · 21/05/2021 16:38

I’m pretty sure I have those chAirs now in plain brown. I keep meaning to have them recovered and 8years later I still haven’t. Grin

KingdomScrolls · 21/05/2021 16:39

My gran had that bedroom furniture and a velvet padded stool I used to sit on at the dressing table. Lovely memories in houses like this

Latelatelate · 21/05/2021 16:40

Nostalgic and definitely of the time but I also guess probate so wonder what the family would make of it being on here.
Very sad.

Latelatelate · 21/05/2021 16:40

‘being discussed in here’

AfternoonToffee · 21/05/2021 16:41

The only disappointment is that the bathroom does not have the upside down penguin tiles. A fine feature of the 70's.
