By My Diabolical Power - all threads I post on or create are DEAD! If there is a a long-winded thread - we will kill it dead!

I do this! I like to think that it's because I normally give the best answer, and nobody else has anything to add Grin

fairgame84 · 20/05/2021 14:21

Me too. I don't know how i do it.
It's like walking into a conversation at a party, speaking then everyone else staying silent looking at their shoes Blush

SamusIsAGirl · 20/05/2021 14:26

That's what I want to think, that what I say is SO WISE that it cannot be matched. Rather than everyone thinking who this massive weirdo is. Mumnset is so much like secondary school sometimes.

Yes! I feel a bit out of step with the average Mumsnetter, to be fair - everyone here seems to get het up about things I wouldn't give a second thought to...
DinosaurDiana · 20/05/2021 14:43

Me too 🥴

SamusIsAGirl · 20/05/2021 14:53

Yes, people being upset about others thinking they are bad people because of infinitesimal things or things they don't have control over. Or that someone looks different to them. Or that it's the teatime of the gods if people don't 'like' their posts on social media...

Not things like the biggest refugee crisis since WWII, the climate emergency and the culture of greed and overwork that destroys minds bodies and the planet.

IreallydontknowImtired · 20/05/2021 16:56

Aargh! You went too deep and killed it Grin I tend to do that sometimes too.

Anyway, wanted to awaken your thread and show my solidarity - I'm also a thread killer and often relieved when someone else posts after me.

fingers crossed

SamusIsAGirl · 20/05/2021 17:28

Yep, I did indeed go too deep. Although I sometimes wonder if I have been the cause of grief and anguish because I have insulted someone or slighted someone when in reality I HAVE NO CLUE since I was only interacting 'normally'. Or an AS interpretation of normal. Note not ASS interpretation, honest!

OP posts:
Cheeeeislifenow · 20/05/2021 18:45

Another one here too. I can't keep up with the speed of posts and by the time I'm finished posting everyone else has moved on!

TwoAndAnOnion · 20/05/2021 18:57

I link to facts. That's a killer

NatWestPigFamily · 20/05/2021 18:59

I have found my people! Anxiously waiting for someone to post after me now.

BarefootHippieChick · 20/05/2021 19:06

I don't think I've ever been a thread killer so I'll wait and see if I manage it this time 😆

tbtf · 20/05/2021 19:12

@BarefootHippieChick ... ... I don't want to give you the glory

Grin
InTheGreatGreenRoom · 20/05/2021 19:13

We are clearly just wise people . . .

orangejuicer · 20/05/2021 19:15

And so endeth the thread now I am here.

DobbyTheHouseElk · 20/05/2021 19:19

So many times, doesn’t bother me though.

SamusIsAGirl · 20/05/2021 19:42

It does when there's 3-4 threads that were busy then I killed them dead.

OP posts:
FOJN · 20/05/2021 20:16

I think you could exercise your super power for diplomacy, if a thread looks like it's getting a bit heated you could pop in and kill it before things get out of hand.

Iseeyoulookingatme · 20/05/2021 20:25

I'm a thread killer Confused I like to think it's because I post so often that it's bound to happen occasionally ha ha.

CheerfulBunny · 20/05/2021 20:26

Oh yes, this is me. I do think I miss the point of the OP sometimes though, then I feel silly. Doesn't stop me coming back and doing it again though Grin

SamusIsAGirl · 20/05/2021 21:01

Diplomacy?!?!? Unless it is Big Stick diplomacy when I hit them on the head with a big stick. I have a reputation for being blunt.

I didn't stop replying because you went too deep - just had to dial into a Zoom meeting and stop MNing! I think my bluntness is a definite issue on here - I tend to just state The Correct Answer, very authoritatively, in a way that probably does shut down debate Blush
SamusIsAGirl · 21/05/2021 14:19

I see that too. I'm an introvert and more a listener than a talker. But then when I do speak up its when I know I am correct or at least can back things up with data.

Again, that can shut down debate.

StoneColdBitch · 22/05/2021 07:21

This thread is dangerously close to being killed by either me or you, @SamusIsAGirl!

AJobToLove · 22/05/2021 07:31

I tend to be a lurker, when I eventually pluck up the courage to post it's an instant kill for the thread. Like now...
