By My Diabolical Power - all threads I post on or create are DEAD! If there is a a long-winded thread - we will kill it dead!

Sweetslumber · 02/06/2021 08:57

Looks like I’ve killed this thread too.
Sorry OP!

Onetraumaatatimeplease · 02/06/2021 09:05

I'm not really sure if I should post. This thread my die if I do. It makes me feel as though I'm back at high school and being excluded. Again.

KurtWilde · 02/06/2021 09:37

I've done the starts thread kills thread too. Clearly not a very interesting person.

FuzzyPuffling · 02/06/2021 10:37

I'm still here. Can't comment much on tattoo things though as I have none. Except the ink collects in your lymph nodes and permanently changes their colour. 😮

SamusIsAGirl · 02/06/2021 12:54

Anytime I start a thread on Style and Beauty that usually get killed. Apparently grown up goths/grebs who occasionally need to impersonate adults but actually have a budget don't exist.

You're very brave to venture into S&B at all. I always feel very inadequate there.

KurtWilde · 03/06/2021 09:41

I started an S&B thread at Christmas. Two responses and one of them was mine. Killed it dead not that anyone was interested anyway.

I've noticed tattoos and piercings and general 'alternative' styles are largely frowned upon on MN. I described mine as Morticia but with tattoos and a tongue piercing once. Didn't go down too well 🤣

SamusIsAGirl · 03/06/2021 11:20

S&B is quite useful for finding recommendations for gymwear/activewear that doesn't break the bank.

There are occasional posts from alternative dressing folks but not that many.
It's the people who describe £200/month as a modest clothes budget - That's a splurge once/twice a year or getting one specific item to replace something!

Looks like I killed a couple more threads in the last 24 hours. I've decided it just means we like to get the last word Grin

SamusIsAGirl · 07/06/2021 16:20

And at least two more bite the dust! Haven't lost my touch!

PS I count the threads when there is like 1 post after mine and then NOTHING

Here are my Tattoos so far:

Not the best pictures but here they are:

So which one of us is going to kill this tread?

SamusIsAGirl · 16/06/2021 14:18

I have two really dead and one more potentially dead thread today.

@FuzzyPuffling

But I made a very sensible, science- based, positive comment on a covid thread, and although it didn't kill the thread ( or stop the idiot speculation) it was roundly ignored by everyone. Is being Thread Invisible a thing? ( Prize for the first person to write"who said that?" 😁)
Completely invisible often. I've made several posts, including two where the OPs were ignored and I was the first to post, and others joined in later and made the same or similar posts. My posts were ignored and the new posters 'seen' and acknowledged.

I wished I could take my posts back.Grin After the long silence, you'd think the OP would be grateful to the first person who posted on their thread and gave helpful information too.

Ireallydontknowimtired · 16/06/2021 14:51

Yes the killer is me.

SamusIsAGirl · 16/06/2021 14:53

Yes, being thread invisible is a thing - I found that out whenever I posted on RockSoc back at University - turned out the cool kids couldn't stand me and the punk kids were all sheeple.

I suspect it was because you said something they didn't understand and that made them defensive as it is more common to pretend to know something rather than to admit your ignorance. People feel intimidated by people they perceived to be more intelligent than them.

OP posts:
Ireallydontknowimtired · 16/06/2021 14:58

You know what? I'll take your theory @SamusIsAGirl I felt bad about it but you're right - people can't handle our wisdom. MNHQ need us to keep dropping these gems even if posters pretend to not notice.

Ireallydontknowimtired · 16/06/2021 15:05

I nearly killed a fast moving lighthearted thread 2 days ago or so. With each refresh, I'd see about 10 new posts. Once I posted on it, the world came to a stop. Tumbleweed for about 6 months hours - excruciating. It slowly picked up again.

I think they had to process the sheer genius that was my contribution.

SamusIsAGirl · 16/06/2021 22:11

I also remember on a Style and Beauty thread a woman lighter than me but taller was angsting about getting a bikini. So I posted a photo of myself in a bikini from behind and everyone promptly ignored my post.
I only wonder if my traps, lats and delts scared them into submission and not my back-hamsters

OP posts:
HappyWinter · 16/06/2021 22:53

I'll kill the thread for you Grin. It happens to me too.

I think it's when you say something balanced and reasonable and no one can argue with it! I try to be balanced and always kill the threads. It's the contraversial posts that get all the replies.

HappyWinter · 16/06/2021 22:54

I'm sure to get a response as there was a typo in that post...

SamusIsAGirl · 18/06/2021 10:46

Another doozy is unemployment. I did an AMA about being long-term unemployed and got quite a kicking. Mind you when I shitposted the shitposters I got my account deleted - no warning or nothing. Just say 'scrounger' or 'benefits' and any contest and you'll have no shortage of attention.

OP posts:
HappyWinter · 21/06/2021 09:42

Any topics about SAHMs or putting your babies into full-time childcare so you can work get the strong reactions but from the opposite sides. Or breastfeeding topics, they set the fireworks off.

StoneColdBitch · 21/06/2021 16:47

I've killed another couple of threads in the last few days!

SamusIsAGirl · 21/06/2021 22:10

And now I have ANOTHER two! Haven't lost my skills!
