@Livedandlearned

Black Airforce 1s for a lot of kids around here
They used to be the most popular style at DS' school - but they got banned. Now they have to be black and polishable and with laces. I think he's got something like these now: www.clarks.co.uk/c/Loxham-Derby-Youth/p/26151593

Yr 8 DD1 wears the Scala Youth brogues from Clarks in patent. She doesn't really give a toss though. For the brief time she was in Yr 7 she wore Harry Potter Mary Jane shoes. She'd wear them still if they ran to her size.

@RevolvingPivot

One person has posted a photo of their child's actual shoes. Their kid isn't wearing them. There are loads of used shoes on eBay.

I just wanted an idea of what year 7s wear. Shoes don't turn me on. Especially used ones and those that belong kids!!

I really wasn't getting at you. Please don't think i was. I definitely didn't mean that. But yes, one person did post their child's shoes. That's why I posted.

These are wearing well (Y8):

KaleSlayer · 20/05/2021 13:03

Our secondary have always said shoes, no trainers. The reality was 80% of the kids wore trainers and nothing was done. Most kids wore Nike Airforce or black leather converse.
Then a few years ago they actually decided to implement their shoe policy properly and now most girls wear brogues like the photos on here.

Even before the school decided to implement the policy properly, the Year 7s often wore ‘proper’ shoes like brogues before they realised they didn’t have to. So I’d say she’s fine in either.

RevolvingPivot · 20/05/2021 15:34

I could have worded the title better 😆😆

Mine have the black patent brogues from primark

emmathedilemma · 20/05/2021 15:42

The state school kids all wear black / dark trainers round here, I don't think I've ever seen a single one in what I'd consider to be proper school shoes!

MyDcAreMarvel · 20/05/2021 15:43

@RevolvingPivot there is a plimsol troll , that’s why posters are cautious.

MyDcAreMarvel · 20/05/2021 15:43

Oh and my dd wears patent kickers , she is year 11.

Hazelnutlatteplease · 20/05/2021 15:51

Kickers and Dr Martens

AlwaysLatte · 20/05/2021 15:55

Boys here but a warning that Clark's will be fine in year 6 but weeks later, in year 7 they are SO last decade and not to be worn at all costs...
we buy our son's men's shoes in M&S - smart lace up air flex ones.

AlwaysLatte · 20/05/2021 15:57

What's Flashy lamp on about? I thought she meant not pics of her actual child's feet wearing them (obviously!) but she didn't...

IhaveMyMoments · 20/05/2021 15:59

Ours can wear trainers if all black with no pattern or white sole.
They all wear air force

AlwaysLatte · 20/05/2021 15:59

Oh gosh, I read some of the comments. Do people really think that about shoes?? Disturbing.

I was 'on about'

Please don't post pictures of your actual child's worn shoes because there are creepy fetishists who actively search for that kind of thing online.

I worded it badly but I wasn't accusing OP of being one, just pointing out that OP isn't the only person who would see said pictures.

OP has mentioned there are lots on eBay, while this is true it's also true that someone will search out something g a little more 'real'

So please stop having a go everyone. I posted with the best of intentions earlier.

It’s very odd, but some people really do “enjoy” worn shoes. I’m sure I read an interview with some women who sold “well-used” high heels on eBay for £££.

GreyhoundG1rl · 20/05/2021 16:41

@Zinnia

These are DD's actual shoes (Y8 have PE today so she's wearing trainers!). They are Kickers. To my mind they are black leather trainers, but they comply with the school's fairly stringent shoe policy so we're OK.

I started her in Y7 with what to my mind were really nice chunky brogues from Start Rite (which others of her friends had too) but she begged for the Kickers this year!

I'm surprised at these. Ours always insisted on a brogue type shape. Although some of them wore Doc shoes and it seemed to go unremarked. Those wouldn't have got over the doorstep!

Definitely true, I've seen the listings. I was also selling some shoes myself - innocently and legitimately I might add - when a fella messaged me saying he'd buy the shoes and pay extra if I'd send them with a photo of me wearing them. I declined.

!!! 🤮

1starwars2 · 20/05/2021 17:09

I would ask locally. My kids school says shoes only, no trainers.
DS1 wears Adidas Superstars (quite shoelike trainers) and DS2 wears Black Adidas Astros. DS1 said he didn't think that DS1 would be allowed to wear them, but he says no-one has ever picked him up on them. And he hates the idea of wearing 'real shoes'.

tywysoges · 20/05/2021 17:09

DD has 2 friends over, both of their shoes are Vans.

aiwblam · 20/05/2021 17:14

My dd and her friends have shoes like these

BoredatHome321 · 20/05/2021 17:20

Black Nike Air Force or Black Old Skool Vans.

onemouseplace · 20/05/2021 17:29

DD has worn those Startrite brogues that aren't too clunky for the last 3 years of primary school. I'm fully expecting her to chose the same ones when she starts secondary in September.

I overheard another girl from the school she's going to choosing the same shoes last year, so I'm happy with that.

If someone could let me know what coat/ bag to get her though ...
