Things/food/people you want to like, but just don't

Hi,

Just thought I'd start a lighthearted thread about this, as it popped into my head this morning that no matter how much I try, I just don't like porridge and it really annoys me. Irrationally so. Let's be honest, It really doesn't matter if I like it or not, but I keep persevering for some reason. My issue is, do you need to chew? Do you just swallow? Confused Do you use it to put up your wallpaper?....

Oh and also, whisky. Always sounds so nice. Hot toddy, a wee dram, scotch on the rocks. All lovely sounding things, but it tastes rank! To me anyway.

I'm sure I'll think of plenty more as the thread goes on.

Over to you Smile

@DuckonaBike

I’m finding this thread rather cheering as it’s making me realise that I like almost everything 😀

Don’t worry if you don’t like whisky, though. Whenever I drink it I decide the next day that it would be better if I didn’t like it, or at least not quite so much.

😂🥴

The beach!!! - Sand manages to get absolutely everywhere. Uncomfortable. Boring - what is there to really do? Sea is always too cold. Often very limited toilet facilities. I could go on.... Definitely more of a pool person.

Salmon - Would absolutely love to like it but find it revolting. Too fishy!!!

Alcohol - Not a huge fan of the taste of most drinks but I am also not a fun drunk... instead I just get anxious and tearful because I hate the feeling of being out of control. The smell of vodka alone is enough to make me feel sick + give me a headache. If I’m out I will have a glass of champagne or a very weak cocktail but that’s pretty much it.

Movies - There are very few I can sit through without getting bored out of my mind.

All hot drinks but especially coffee - most people I know can't function without it. I seem to manage ok but occasionally wonder how much more energetic and better at life I'd be if I drank it. Plus there's the social aspect of 'grabbing a coffee' and people thinking you're a bit weird for not liking tea/coffee/hot chocolate - 'what about fruit tea?'... 'they do hot chocolate!'... 'omg you don't even like hot chocolate?!'... 'what do you drink?!' etc. etc.

Milk - because I get more incredulous looks when I say that I don't want a frappuccino either because I can't stand milk.

Alcohol - I don't like the taste of any of it but although from a health perspective I'm glad overall, I occasionally have a gin or glass of wine to pass myself on social occasions and it'd be nice to actually enjoy the taste of it - my instinctive reactions of sneezing and/or grimacing slightly just don't seem very grown up 😄
