Hi,

Just thought I'd start a lighthearted thread about this, as it popped into my head this morning that no matter how much I try, I just don't like porridge and it really annoys me. Irrationally so. Let's be honest, It really doesn't matter if I like it or not, but I keep persevering for some reason. My issue is, do you need to chew? Do you just swallow? Confused Do you use it to put up your wallpaper?....

Oh and also, whisky. Always sounds so nice. Hot toddy, a wee dram, scotch on the rocks. All lovely sounding things, but it tastes rank! To me anyway.

I'm sure I'll think of plenty more as the thread goes on.

Over to you Smile

I'd love to enjoy hiking, skiing, camping and general outdoorsy bullshit but I just HATE IT. I went cave tubing in the Caribbean a few years back and even managed to hate that.

Also being pregnant. It was shit. Baffled as to how anyone enjoys it, but one family member said it was the happiest time of her life Hmm.

emmetgirl · 18/05/2021 20:58

Hate tea and coffee - ugh
Hate porridge- gross
Hate ketchup- yuck
Hate rice pudding - looks like vomit
Hate warm milk - disgusting

MangosteenSoda · 18/05/2021 21:01

Sarah Beeny. I enjoy Renovate, not Relocate, but always feel living Sarah is sneering at people (she’s probably not).

Love her big barn and floor plan machine though. I really do love floor plans so that’s cat nip for me.

Sorry Sarah! Not that she’d want my approval anyway Grin

MangosteenSoda · 18/05/2021 21:01

*like Sarah...

PermanentTemporary · 18/05/2021 21:06

Raw celery. I like it in stews. I keep thinking I must like it by now, I started liking nearly every other food, but no.

Raisins. I can choke them down if I have to but they're just horrible, gritty and tasteless.

amusedtodeath1 · 18/05/2021 21:18

I'm not fussy with food generally but there's a few things that I just cannot enjoy however much I try. Peppers (bell and chilli). I don't mind the chilli taste but can't eat chillies sliced in a dish, I always have to eat around them. I just don't like the taste of bell peppers, I eat them but don't enjoy them. Cucumber, I really hate cucumber (love stilton cheese though???). I can't fathom why cucumber is a problem for me.

People, Taylor Swift, Amber Herd, Brie Larson, I don't know what it is about these women that irritates me so much.

Music I can't sing or hum along to, what's the point of music without a melody? I want to be oh so sophisticated and into classical music but most of it bores me quite quickly. I'm a philistine.

jelly79 · 18/05/2021 21:49

Black coffee

I wish I liked water more

I like everything else

jelly79 · 18/05/2021 21:50

I wish I liked reading too.

mamaduckbone · 18/05/2021 21:58

Tomatoes. I look at lovely Greek salad and tomato, basil and mozzarella ...I've even grown them myself and they smell delicious, but I just can't eat them raw - it's the seeds .

Hotcuppatea · 18/05/2021 22:03

Oysters 🤮
Marvel movies
Any other kind of superhero movie
Spa days. Hate sitting around in damp togs all day.

giantwaterbottle · 18/05/2021 22:15

Oysters.
I really want to like them, sophisticated, a squirt of lemon, a glass of cold champagne, but they just look disgusting Close up and I know they will taste vile

Batshitkerazy · 18/05/2021 22:19

Red wine, coffee and halloumi

Mugsen · 18/05/2021 22:33

Prawns. They might as well be caterpillars.

Pudmyboy · 18/05/2021 23:01

Guacamole: I like avocados, but guac is always a slimy boak disappointment.
Seaside: lovely about 1% of the time, otherwise: can't get to the nice bits, car parking is hideously expensive, the cafe (IF there is one) is generally a disappointment, toilets are mostly non-existent or very stinky and oddly wet. Don't get me started on pebble beaches!
Shame because I love the ocean, in principle..

WhipperSnapperSteve · 18/05/2021 23:14

@Cottonheadedninymuggins

And summer - more contraversial.

I have a health condition that drastically affects my body temperature all year round. I am absolutely bright red dripping with sweat without wearing a coat when outside (and inside but it's not so bad then if I'm in my own house - not the same in shops etc) even in winter but in Summer it's even worse.

My head literally feels like a boiling kettle when it's at its worst just bubbling away.

Summer adds: It's too hot, lack of sleep, stuffy headache, hayfever adding its feeling like death sway to it, needing to scratch your throat/nose from the inside, heatwaves, everyone getting bad tempered cos they can't sleep too or escape the heat, my abusive neighbour leaving their back door wide open so the booming music played from inside their house is just as audible outside the house, summer holidays so even more people out and about in the shops and staring or asking why you're as hot as you are or making rude comments, shopping melting as you try and get it home during the heatwaves, cars like microwaves.... it's too much!

I have hyperhidrosis and suffer everything you said - my face, palms, back dripping. GP thinks it's a joke, trying to get referred to dermatology.

Also coffee, blue cheese and oysters for me, with a side of olives thrown in for good measure.

Kottbullar · 18/05/2021 23:14

Eggs. Good source of protein and versatile, except they look bad, smell bad, the texture is bad and unless they're baked into a cake taste bad.
The same goes for mushrooms except they'd taste bad in a cake too.

Nannyamc · 18/05/2021 23:30

Any type of cheese
Peppers and chillis cause me to puck. Rice pudding of any description. Love pasta potatoes rice and veg. Brown soda bread . Soup if it has any colouring. Love chicken leek and potatoe and mushroom soup. Corn on the cob only fresh. Tinned anything colured white is ok.

BorderlineHappy · 19/05/2021 06:02

Roasted veg.
All the the colours look lovely.
But it just tastes of nothing. No matter what herbs I add.

Taylor Swift she comes across so fake to me.Its like she's hiding a really dark secret.

hokinabout · 19/05/2021 06:16

Mom jeans.
The beach - too much sand.
Flavoured gin - tastes like soap to me.
Edinburgh. I find it okay. Give me Glasgow any day!
Capri - the vision did not match the touristy, over-crowded reality.
Holly Willoughby. Far too fake.

Oh and a PP who said Daniel Bedingfield...my brother's crap sleb story is that when he was working at a hotel reception many years ago, Daniel Bedingfield checked in and was an absolute arsehole (his famous days were over by then). So you're justified in disliking him Grin

1988Username · 19/05/2021 08:19

Sitting in a pub... People go on about an afternoon in the pub, I couldn't personally think of anything more boring! After about half an hour I'm asking my DH if we're moving on yet! I can maybe at a push do an hour.

Cos/and other stories that type of fashion the architect look.

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 19/05/2021 08:25

Cream. I really wish I liked it, because so many puddings look as if they should be delicious, but I can’t bear the stuff.

Plus you feel really bad if a hostess has gone to a lot of trouble making 2 or 3 fancy puddings all slathered with cream, and you can’t eat any of them.

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 19/05/2021 08:28

I was about to ditto Kirsty Allsopp before realising that it wouldn’t be true - I don’t remotely wish I liked her - always so smug and bossy on that prog. with Phil.

CrazyBaubles · 19/05/2021 10:13

Overnight oats / cereal with either yogurt or fruit 🤢 Always touted as a brilliant way to eat healthily and save time so I've tried different varieties etc - all disgusting.

Gin, tastes like cleaning chemicals no matter what flavour it is or what it's mixed with.

Beach / hot holidays. Sweat, sunburn, prickly heat. Give me woolly layers, snow and -5 temps any day.

Randomly, and I have no real idea why - Dermot O'Leary.

Musication · 19/05/2021 14:12

I really want to like coffee but I just dont like anything about it.
Also rocket - everyone seems to love it but I find it too strong, too bitter and ruins my salad or sandwich!

BrownEyedGirl80 · 19/05/2021 14:13

Vermouth (Martini) fucking disgusting and ill drink almost anything
