Guess what - rain! This time with a high wind alert.

Frownette · 22/05/2021 07:44

Prok - it's a bit damp here, I've just gone to get a coffee still in my jeans and jacket with unwashed face #epitomeofslovenly and am perched tentatively on a bench to drink it. Ominously grey sky. Thorough wash when I get home.

Hope work goes well!

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 22/05/2021 07:50

@frownette
I hope your sleep doesn't lead to headache!

Well, it's about 400 pages of disputed invoice (for technical building equipment). I got it late yesterday afternoon on my day off work and they promised it to be ready on Tuesday. Nobody asked me first.

Spudlet · 22/05/2021 07:59

It is DH’s birthday today, so we are going to the zoo later. It is going to be 10 degrees 🥶 We will all be wearing our big jumpers.

Spuddog is still listing a bit, but felt well enough to try running up the garden for his morning ablutions. He also brought DH a toy the other night. It’s wonderful to see him on the mend as we were so terribly worried about him this time last week.

Fiercestcalm · 22/05/2021 08:06

The dog is ignoring me, she is quietly seething and giving me the side eye. My crime was to gently wash her, in the shower with warm water and dry her off with fluffy ‘dog’ towels. DH has asked why the dog towels are softer and plusher than human towels.

Her partner in grime and crime was most interested in her getting a wash, he has his own groomer being a Springer Spaniel and is regularly bathed, pampered and clipped short, and he LOVES it . She is a Boxer and short haired but having got something sticky and unpleasant on her back, needed a wash, anyone would have thought I’d chopped her leg off the way she is performing. She is snuggling with DH, side eyeing me and I know I am horrible human no 1 and will probably remain so for the next few hours.... until dinner time at least!

Frownette · 22/05/2021 08:28

Happy birthday to spud DH, hope spuddog continues to improve.

@Fiercestcalm they don't know how lucky they are having their own pampering service!

Prok that doesn't sound like fun...

Supermarket's open but I have to wait until 9am when relative is up then I'll check what they want and go to do their shopping. Oh yeah and I have to defilth myself as well. Perhaps I need Fiercestcalm's services, though I'd probably be as appreciative as the dog

bloodywhitecat · 22/05/2021 08:35

I'm getting married today. Fosterling slept all night and his asthma appears to be abating (which is excellent news as his main symptom is a dry hacking cough which makes people twitchy in these strange times) so I am feeling much better for a whole night's sleep. The weather looks like it might be reasonable weather wise. DP is feeling good despite chemo on Thursday. All our guests are gathering for our special day.

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 22/05/2021 08:37

I've just changed the plaster on my finger

Frownette · 22/05/2021 08:38

Best wishes @bloodywhitecat :) Flowers

Do you have a bloody white cat?

bloodywhitecat · 22/05/2021 08:40

@Frownette

Best wishes *@bloodywhitecat* :) Flowers

Do you have a bloody white cat?

No. I used to work in a special school and one of our little ones, who had autism, used to sing about Postman Pat and his "bloody white cat" relentlessly through the school day.
soddingkitten · 22/05/2021 08:42

Sodding is currently licking my pancake plate clean for the residual maple syrup, raspberry juice and butter. He will try anything at least once, weirdo. Plate is destined for the dishwasher’s hot cycle, in case anyone is clutching their pearls in horror. 😄

Nydj · 22/05/2021 09:02

@bloodywhitecat, lovely to hear from you again and with such lovely news too 😊. I hope all goes well for the wedding and that fosterling continues to sleep well xx

MerryGoRoundBrain · 22/05/2021 09:39

My food order is arriving soon. I ordered free range eggs, whatever came up first when I typed in “free range eggs”. They’re out of stock. A suitable replacement could not be found.
As DS is isolating (and too young to be left home on his own) and DP working until late, we’re not having frittata for dinner.

MissConductUS · 22/05/2021 10:28

@welcome, @bloodywhitecat, congratulations, and thanks for your nuptial news! Flowers

I'm just up, have fed the cats, and am about to get on the stationary bike for a bit while I watch Home Fires. What a shame that Bob Simms came back from the war.

Congratulations Bloodywhitecat on your wedding day

Hope SpudDH has a lovely birthday 🎂

Dh is still sleeping. Neighbour is mowing lawn very loudly but dh is half deaf. Birds are singing.

HelenaJustina · 22/05/2021 11:06

@bloodywhitecat Many many felicitations on your special day! Hope it is wonderful FlowersFlowers

I’m standing at the side of a football pitch while DC4 trains, it’s not actually raining but feels like it might. I’m feeling slightly smug as I’m wearing neoprene tall muck boots and a duvet coat, plus hoody and cap. I will be warm and dry. Like @Frownette I do need a shower post my morning run but am confident am virtually unrecognisable in my multiple layers. Also remembered coffee in a travel mug #winning unlike DC4’s football team

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 22/05/2021 11:20

@bloodywhitecat - Have a good day! Habt einen schönen Tag!

Frownette · 22/05/2021 11:22

@HelenaJustina glad it's not just me! When I woke up on top of the bed fully clothed I wanted a coffee more than I wanted a shower. Face masks are beneficial at times ;) I had a sneak sleep attack last night.

Washed now, bought relative fresh bread, pastries, brie and mozzarella, tuna steaks and wild salmon, pasta and pesto, aubergine, broccoli, dark chocolate, asparagus, olive oil. I'd better head off soon.

Frownette · 22/05/2021 11:22

Strawberries and...blackberries. oh and a swede.

Spudlet · 22/05/2021 11:30

Oooh congratulations @bloodywhitecat! Hope your day is amazing! ❤️

HildaTablet · 22/05/2021 11:30

Many congratulations and I hope you have a wonderful day @bloodywhitecat

MissConduct, your mention of Home Fires reminds me that one of the characters is played by Daisy Badger, an actress who inspires much, er, heated debate for her role as Pip Archer in our long-running radio drama The Archers - 'an everyday story of country folk'. It's the longest-running drama in the world and has many fans, a lot of whom have an intense love/hate relationship with it.

This cultural phenomenon may be something you need to grapple with in your ongoing quest to immerse yourself in British culture, if you haven't already Grin

Mamamamasaurus · 22/05/2021 11:31

I just drank my second cup of biscuit tea. And it was hot. It was lush.

HelenaJustina · 22/05/2021 11:39

@HildaTablet Archers fan here... I can’t commit to being in the right place to listen without interruption during the week so I actively avoid it, then omnibus while cleaning the kitchen on a Sunday evening.

HildaTablet · 22/05/2021 11:58

Helena I'm an Archers listener too. Have been for donkey's years. Hate almost all the characters Grin

Sunbird24 · 22/05/2021 14:33

@bloodywhitecat hope you have a wonderful day and make lots of happy memories! Flowers
