Welcome, @Mamamamasaurus, and thanks for sharing your biscuit tea lushness news.

Thanks, Hilda, I shall have a look for Archers. I thought she was quite good in Home Fires.

I've just done a quick shop and DH is sleeping. He woke up in pain and had a very poor night's sleep. The HVAC is only working intermittently and poorly, so they're due back this morning to have a look at it. DS and I will deal with them.

There's a very long-running thread anatomising analysing The Archers on here, MissConduct; it's in the Radio addicts section.

Sorry to hear that your DH had an uncomfortable night.

MissConductUS · 22/05/2021 16:55

He had a nap this morning and something to eat, so he's feeling better, Hilda, thanks. I'll have to see if there's a way to sample The Archers from here in the US.

The HVAC bloke has come, made some adjustments to the system, and we now have good cooling. It's the same guy who was here yesterday, so too bad he didn't take care of it then.

I'm taking DS to the deli to pick up lunch, a chicken cutlet sandwich with cheddar and bacon, and some onion rings.

I made my first ever scones today, other than the ones I made as a child with my mum. Realised I have no circular cutters, so they are all people-shaped.

soddingkitten · 22/05/2021 18:21

I took DS2 to buy new walking boots today. He is in the same size as DS1, which I was dubious about but he assured me the next size down were too small and pinching. I made him wiggle his toes and pressed down where they were and they looked to be about right. This means he’s grown 2.5 shoe sizes since Christmas. 😮 DS1 did exactly the same at puberty so I don’t know why I’m surprised. He was also mistaken for a member of staff in the shop by an older woman, despite only being 13. He is broad-shouldered and reasonably tall. With his mask on she wouldn’t have seen that he has no facial hair or stubble.

Notthissticky · 22/05/2021 18:41

DS2 woke up at 5.20am for a feed and DS1 woke up screaming ten minutes later🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️ I got up with him and he watched lots of crap on my phone while I snoozed on the sofa. It was one of those days where you have to try really hard not to be a short-tempered arsehole because you're so tired. Of course DS1 didn't get this memo and did far more screeching and whining than was necessary. TBF he was absolutely adorable in between. DH finally managed to snap out of the foul mood he'd been in since yesterday morning and a good job too, as I was about to lose my shit with him. We then had a lovely afternoon in a children's café nearby and got soaked on the way home but it was fine.

DS1 is asleep now and I'm heading to bed ASAP after dinner.

Wow! I can't wait for the day my boys tower over me, though I don't want them to grow up either!!! DS1's feet have grown 3 sizes since the beginning of the first lockdown, I thought that was fastShock
ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 22/05/2021 18:46

I don't have to go to help a friend today after all (she's just texted me), so I'm flopping on sofa crocheting & watching Netflix.

HappyDaysToCome · 22/05/2021 18:57

I have a very blue car. In the car park there was a cluster of blue cars so I parked with them. When I got back to my car the blue car gathering had grown even more.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 22/05/2021 19:11

Happy I often notice car gatherings like that, they seem to flock together - like hi-viz men.

I have finished for the day - I made good progress with part of the invoice.

Silkiecats · 22/05/2021 19:30

Mousetrap caught another mouse and Easter Shock Silkiecat has killed her first mouse in this house. We surely must be running out of mice now though not convinced they can't get back in from green bin.

theDudesmummy · 22/05/2021 19:30

@MissConductUS you can access BBC Sounds from anywhere

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 22/05/2021 19:44

The Archers were used as teaching material for listening comprehension, when I was at uni last century, because of the variety of voices. We had to listen every evening. It was broadcasted by:
BFBS the radio division ot the SSVC!!! (Jingle)

Were they breeding?

@bloodywhitecat (or postman cat and his black and white cat) how was wedding day??

Thecurtainsofdestiny · 22/05/2021 20:48

İt was rainy all week but sunny today.

MissConductUS · 22/05/2021 21:40

Welcome, @Muddydoor, @ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba, @HappyDaysToCome, and @Thecurtainsofdestiny and thanks for sharing your calming Saturday news! So many new posters. Smile

It has been quite hot here today, 34 degrees but stayed nice and cool inside. I had a lie down for a bit, then a lovely cup of coffee. The men are making grilled burgers and mac & cheese for dinner. I suspect DS will do most of the work.

I'm almost done with Home Fires. What a shame there's no third season. Here's a question for you all. At one point one of the characters (Sara I think) says "there's tea on the stove". I thought the common term in the UK was hob and that only Americans called it a stove.

The Archers is available on Apple Podcasts. I read the plot summary of the most recent episode, which involved vandalism, the police and possibly social services. I think I'll stick with period dramas for now. I do subscribe to several podcasts from The Economist and can highly recommend those.

Ha ha, hope no one will be coming after me for car maintenance Wink

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 22/05/2021 21:50

aww, thanks @MissConductUS

Someone ate DS2's mozzarella pizza. uncharacteristically he didn't even grumble but ate a pepperoni one instead.
and my onion bahji was perfection.

NotanotherboxofFrogs · 22/05/2021 22:28

Hope you had a fab day today @bloodywhitecat 👰💍💒 🍹🍰

I've slept loads today and lots of cat cuddling. 🐈🐱.

One of my cats currently is wearing a collar as he needs to leave a bite on his tail alone so he is sad about that, and banging into everything. I'm washing out the wound twice a day and applying cream as per the vet. He has a pencilled in appointment if it is needed for Monday afternoon but if not needed I can ring and cancel. As he is not getting out like usual with the collar he is having to use the litter tray, which I very helpfully stood in today and tipped across the floor and then overbalanced on my other foot and put my bare foot on top of some cat 💩, squishing it through my toes. 🤢

bloodywhitecat · 22/05/2021 22:42

It was bloody amazing! Simple, full of laughter and love. Little one was so so good, he was an absolute treasure throughout the day (although he did end up front and centre with us during the service Smile). I can't believe how quickly the day has gone.

soddingkitten · 22/05/2021 22:44

Many congratulations @bloodywhitecat! 🥂🍾🎉

HildaTablet · 22/05/2021 23:46

That sounds like a lovely day @bloodywhitecat, I’m happy it all went so well for everyone.

HairyFeline · 23/05/2021 00:04

Reporting in... spent three hours off and on today grooming a beaded collie. The size of fluff I collected was the same size he was when he came to live with us.

Champagneforeveryone · 23/05/2021 00:22

Congratulations whitecat, I'm so happy it went well Smile

Frighteningly, DS has just sorted and paid for his car insurance. When the car arrives next weekend, so long as one of us is with him he's free to go where he likes
